Thanks alot smokyrain. Appriciate your help. Do you know if all games are still 4.37 GB (4,699,979,776 bytes), and if they change would I still be able to burn it as normal and have it work properly? Thank you.

Open your winrar, go to Options>SETTINGS>INTEGRATION

Then unclick the tab for ISO

Your file should then show up as an ISO image

Yes they are all 4.37GB, even the ones that are downloaded.
They may show a different size in the download, but once extracted they should be 4.37GB

The only exception to this is the SSBB as it is the only Dual Layer Game for the Wii.

Well, it looks like this thread is still active, and softmodding has been referenced. I didn't go through all 100+ pages, but judging by the last couple posts, you're all still relying on a small selection of PC drives to dump your games. This is not essential! You can, via homebrew, actually dump a Wii or Gamecube game directly off your Wii through your home network! It is time consuming, with a Wii game taking up to 7 hours (I can get it down to 3.5 hours by having two connections to my router [one wired, one wireless]); I'm dumping a right now btw. You can also dump to your SD card since homebrew supports SD cards larger than 2GB; this is probably faster, but I only have a 2GB card so I haven't tried it. The output is an ISO ready to be burnt with ImgBurn. Here are a few links describing the process:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Backup_Wii_Games_on_any_Wii/
http://www.instructables.com/id/Run_Back...hout_a_Modchip/
http://www.instructables.com/id/How_to_p..._wii_without_a/

There are other Wii homebrew guides on instructables.com, just search for them!

Also, you can burn SSBB onto a DVD5 by shrinking it with WiiScrubber...I haven't done this myself yet (SSBB is the game I'm currently dumping), but I've been told it's pretty straight forward. DVD+Rs and DVD9s are not recommended as the Wii DVD drive firmware is pretty picky.

lol, thanks

Yep they should work fine.

@ bg4m3r

I actually had posted that method back a page, but like you say not everyone looks back on a few pages.

I couldn't really say..
I know I am happy with the Wiikey 2, and I have a GC2-D2E drive

I haven't had any problems with any backups as yet, not even SSBB on DVD9

I do know you have to make sure you get the right modchip for your drive.

You should probably read up a bit on each of them to see pro's and con's if any.

Ok, I did a few backups using a 8161 drive and using rawdump. My concern is that my wii game does not match exactly the same as far as size, mine is 4,589,824 and a gamecube game I backed up is 1,425,760. WIll this work or am I doing something wrong? I havnt burned them yet because my chip isnt here yet but I dont want to be wasting DVD's. Thanks to anyone who can answer this.

I would say you need to do it again. Here is guide with rawdump 2.1
and pictures.

Those discs are good, the only thing is every WII seems different as to what media it likes, and Verbatim is not necessarily the best when it comes to the Wii.
The most important part is the DVD-R, but these Verbatim should be fine.

You will have to try them and see.

" unhandled exception has occurred in your application If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit the application will close immediately. Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow."

how do I fix this problem?

I have been able to dump other games but on some I can't. HELP I'm going mad!!

Clean the disk. I mainly get this message when the disk is dirty. Also check your computer memory, if it is low you will also get this error.. Hope this helps

Ok, this may have been asked and answered before but I couldn't find it. I just bought a new motherboard for my rig and after hooking it all up, now raw dump 2.0 will not recognize my 8163b drive. I had been burning wii games with no problem before this. Is there any work around? I redownloaded raw dump 2.0 and tried to use it...but still nothing. Help please

The best workaround is the new DVD dumper WAD channel (1.2 i think)
I bought and have used the LG drives to backup my discs - and it was a VERY slow process.
With DVD dumper u can back up ur discs as an iso direct from the wii to your PC wirelessly - and it only takes 2-2.5 hrs or so.
I have a chipped PAL Wii, with HBC, i installed cios rev 8 and ios 60, then upgraded to 4.0, then installed cios rev9 and it works like a charm.
Search these forums for guides if u dont know how...

Try downloading rawdump 2.1 and see if that helps.

I am not sure what method you used to exchange your new motherboard, but if you kept the same operating system, something could be out of sorts.

Well if you can't speak english well, then go to http://babelfish.yahoo.com/ and type it in, then translate and copy/paste

I did that but I am still not understanding what you need.

These LG drives are no longer available.

Are there any current models that will work to backup the Wii games?

If there were they'd be listed!

You'll have to find a used LG drive...

It's the little pic of the person w/ the arrow at the far right of the message.

And I'm pretty sure that advertising your stuff like this is against the rules. I think you either have to PM the person or post your item in the for sale forum.
