My guess is that you're using Vista. The executables msinst.exe and mspformat.exe are not compatible with Vista. You need to find a computer with XP. I had the same problem.
EDIT: Oh btw, I finally managed to make both the Pandora Battery and Magic Memory Stick (or whatever). I think one thing a lot of these tutorials are missing is details on how to create the memory stick. The tutorial on the first page, for instance, doesn't even mention it. Even though the battery is completely useless without that step.
That said, thanks to all of you with your advice during my 3-day ordeal :O Now I can install themes without fear!
How long does the battery hold a charge, does anybody know? It would be pointless if, after all this hard work, I found the battery dead when I finally brick my PSP. :P

kazumi how did u upgrade to 3.52 m33-4 itried straight frm downgrade and it wouldnt load did you have to run kxploite permant patcher first (what is that anyway is it full 1.5?)then upgrade to 3.52m33 i couldnt get it to load up so i went up to 2.71 then down to 1.5 with easy downgrader then upto 3.40oe and all is graet for my broinlaw he says thanks aswell to all

lol he cant even starrt the upgrade with out the kxploit, its the enabler

All kxploitpatcher does is... guess... PATCH, so no, it's not the full 1.50, or why would it have been made before the Pandora battery was released? If it was the full 1.50 firmware it would have no point to it back then.

You can get the 1.50 eboot from either psp-hacks.com or pspupdates.qj.net
Its kind of illegal to distribute flash files like that-so you would be better off getting the eboot from the above mentioned sites...

I just got a used PSP from Gamestop hoping it would be anything but 3.52, and it turned out to be 3.52 lol. Oh well, hopefully Pandora's Batter+Magic Memory Stick works with the new PSP Slim, that'd be great to run GBA ROMs while playing on the TV with the new TV out port :-)

You'd still need the memstick, and you still can't create it on an official firmware PSP, so stop asking :P
