That easy installer is the same as what I use in this guide. Plus it is crap to link another installer in a guide that someone else made. If you think my guide is substandard and think users should use some other installer then create your own guide instead of hijacking someone elses.
If YAHH2009 learned to follow directions in the first place then there should be no problem.

larrylje,
I meant no disrespect, your guide is awesome, It is the best. It is how I made my pandora battery and the mem card. I was not creating another guide or linking to another one, I was just trying to make it clearer to Yahh2009 who is having trouble understanding it.
The file I linked to is the same installer just like you said but it has some extra files in it, I wondered if they were needed for it to work and thought that maybe someone took them out of the original folder that was linked to at the beginning of your guide. Check them both out to see what I mean if you want. Maybe the xtra files are not needed for it to work.My apologies, I will edit my earlier post and remove that link, I didnt realise I was stepping on toes, Just trying to be helpful.

There isnt anything special in that other easy installer. The installer that I use in this guide is actually newer and updated then the one you linked to.

trust me. larry has updated the guide multiple times to accomodate the latest firmware. i've tested each one myself, and they always worked (only on xp).
if the extra files were needed, he would've mention them in the updates.
ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure
got a whole lot more to list . . .

Nice Guide!
Was wondering if anyone can point me to a totally manual way of creating the MMS & uploading custom firmware. Basically, what the "start.exe" program is doing.
I'm running Linux, and would like to recreate the steps this program does.
I've tried running it under Wine, but it fails.
I've pretty much googled the world for a linux how-to, but am drawing a blank.
Any insight?
Thanks much!
Ron

If you have vista and you don't know any1 who has xp there r just 2 solutions for your problem:
1.Get rid of vista via TabulaRasa and install XP (available for download)
or
2. (The one I would prefer if I would be you) It sounds weird and stupid, but there are programs emulating PC, they are used when there are games only playable on older systems or in this case for programs which are only running on WinXP. I guess you will be successful when you use google to find one.
A friend used it when he needed XP for this program and it worked.
(If you should'nt find a emulation program then visit a cafe which has one or two computers with internet. If they are no internet cafe there is the chance that they have XP as system. If you find one which has XP, get all the stuff you need there and create your custom firmware there. But be careful, some owner's could be angry, because they think you get them some virus stuff on the pc or use it for illegal downloads)
NOOOOOO COMMENT

My friend is buying a brand new PSP within the next couple of weeks and I think it'll be a slimline.
Will I need to use this guide so I can mod it for him?

Do I need to buy any additional hardware to mod a brand new PSP and is that stuff sold on Amazon?
Oh, and thanks a lot for the guide, Larry; I can't wait to use it!

Sweet! Finally have some success.

I get here, and choose the 3.90 m33-2. it flashes, and I exit.
But... I dont understand this: Now run the UPDATE via Game Menu Memory Stick.
What update? I go in the memory stick under Game menu, and there's a bunch of choices... if I choose "PSP Update Ver 3.90", it pops up "390.bpb doesn't exist".
Am i missing something? A senior moment, perhaps?
I was just trying to upgrade to the latest.
When I look at system settings, it reports:
System Software: 3.71 m33-2
Nickname: Karen
Suggestions?
Thanks!
Ron

Select 3.90M33 first and install then 3.90M33-2. Do I have to put every little detail in this guide. Why else would the 3.90M33 firmware be there if all you had to do is run 3.90 M33-2.

@m3talrock
Just follow the guide - it does not say that you need 2 of anything.
All you need is a memory stick to make a magic memory stick and a Datel tool battery.
Now if you decide to hard mod the battery instead of getting a Datel tool battery and you screw it up then yeah you would need to buy another battery.

u only need a second psp to make a pandora battery which u already have (the datel tool). and u only need one magic memory stick which should be betwen 256mb to 1gb.

No you don't. Use the AC Adapter with the Battery out.
