Those that are on 5.00 M33-3 can go to the Network Update in XMB and update to 5.00 M33-4. I haven't updated the guide yet so the newest 5.00 M33-4 is not included in the guide.

Where in the guide does it say to place the RAR file archive on your PSP?

You need to download both parts of the file to your PC and extract it. This will give you a folder and you drag the files and folder inside that folder to your PSP.

Follow the guide step for step.

This isn't that hard to understand.

Download PART1 and PART2 (located on first page) to your COMPUTER (You will then have ONE_STOP_UPDATE.part1 and ONE_STOP_UPDATE.part2 on your COMPUTER).

Double click on ONE_STOP_UPDATE.part1 and choose to extract the archive. This will extract both parts and give you a ONE_STOP_UPDATE folder.

Now drag the PSP and 150.PBP inside the ONE_STOP_UPDATE folder to the PSP Memory Stick root.

Now start following the section of the guide under "SE/OE/LE users start here..."

larrylje:

Thank you for your wonderful guide for upgrading your PSP's.

I have one question: I have PSP Phat I'm currently copying the PSP and 150.PBH files across to my 8gb (I think Fake Stick) :o)

I understood that you need to go 1.50-OFW > 3.52 M33 > 3.52 M33-4Update >?
I'd like to go to Latest 5.00M33-4 Custom firmware, Do i need First 3.71 then 3.80.M33 then 3.80 M33 then 3.90 M33 Then 4.01 M33 and then finally onto 5.00M33 Custom Firmware + Updates & Add On's?

OR can I jump from 3.52 M33> 3.52 M33-4 to 5.00M33 > 5.00M33-4 then Add on's (1.50 Kernal) at the end?

Brain twister eh? :P Look forward to your detailed reply:) Thanks you

I hope hope to have error free PC oneday:)

Just a quick question. I gave my bro-in-law a pre-modded PSP for Christmas and it came with 3.71 M33 firmware already installed. I gave him a copy of larryjle's guide + files and 8GB mem stick, pandora battery, etc.

He said he followed the guide, but was still unable to do it. So I'm meeting up with him today and give my first attempt at it. The question I have is:

Do I have to have internet available to perform any parts of the guide? I didn't see it mentioned, so I'm assuming not (with the exception of updates through XMB). Thanks.

i guess larrylje and the others need some rest :P so lets see..

since it came with 3.71m33 CFW from the start.. then u dont' need the pandora battery! u just need the update file..

just get those 2 parts extracted together and u'll find the one update file, follow the guide and u'll be ok..
no need for a pandora battery for a psp that already has CFW on it

put the files in place as the guide says, choose that mux2.0 file, pick up the update u wanna upgrade to, wait for the memory card to stop flashing, then back to the game menu and update.

thats all.

Try selecting 5.00 M33 again. If it still gives an error for the 500.PBP then try formating your PSP Stick and drag all files over again like before. Or try using a different Memory Stick (some memory sticks can have a compatibility issue with this stuff).

@kenkorea

Allot of the games need newer firmware to run. So yes you should update to the latest firmware. Follow this guide to update to the latest custom firmware.

@dizzyduck

You do not need the Internet to update up to 5.00 M33-3. All files are included to at least 5.00 M33-3. If you want to update to 5.00 M33-4 then you will need to find that update manually and install it or use the Network Update in XMB to download and install it (The guide will be updated soon to include 5.00 M33-4).

@zodjiack

Nice to see a newbie to the site offering help. So many times they try to help out and misinform members. But it it is great to see your not 1 of them. You where spot on with your answer so keep up the good work.

Larry:

I've managed to install 5.00 M33 4Update Firmware successfuly, although I'd still like to point out few important points thats missing from your good guide.

1st: During installing of Update Option 8 for 5.00 M33 base IMO people have got to note that it'll take 15-18mins to extract and prepare.

2nd: Files 500.PBP and EBOOT.PBP need to be re-checked becuz some/all users may experience error 'Incorrect file verifying msg'. Files you've provided ARE bad. I downloaded the files from another place onto PSP and onto same memory stick it worked.

3rd: To Boot in recovery menu Hold R Button whilst switching ON the PSP. I've checked Kernal WAS already set to 3.52 and not 1.50 by default.

4th: After you've put ISO and CSO games into Root of PSP ISO folder Check to see if games load correctly, Some may require any UMD disc if none present Back in Recovery menu and set the Configuration option and Choose 'M33 driver - No UMD required' option.

Apart from the above rest are easy to follow, believe me I've not touched my PSP upgrading since 2005.

Thanks Larry.

I hope hope to have error free PC oneday:)

As mentioned in my previous post, my bro-in-law was having trouble updating to 5.00 from 3.71. Well, I went over to try and fix and he accidentally did the S0ny update to ofw 3.95. What a goob!!

So my question is, what should be my next step? I have the Pandora battery, the files for this guide, and the individual files for the firmware from 4.00 to 5.00. Would it be best to use Pandora battery and reinstall cfw 3.71 or could I use Pandora battery and cfw 5.00 files and just go straight to 5.00? Any help is appreciated as I'm new to the PSP scene. Thanks.

You will need to follow this guide HERE to create the Magic memory Stick and use the Pandora Battery you have to install 3.71 M33-2 then use the ADD ON files included in the guide to update to 5.00 M33-4. There is no need to use this guide any longer since you have to use a Magic memory Stick + Pandora Battery.
