1) That should work. Supposedily you can play online worldwide so region shouldnt matter.
2) You dont have to but if you dont you'll get duplicated channels.

Then the ssbb picture show up and click and been playing for the last few hours. I haven't see any white screen that other people mention. The ssbb is burn to a Memorex +r dl. So you really don't have to do an update to 3.2u before you put in ssbb.
tony
I suppose what I don't get about the whole thing was the hubbub about there not being an update for the wiikey so a Wii would be able to play this game. Wiikey owners still can't play the original, but as it turns out all they need is a backup copy to play it and letting the game update your Wii has no ill effects?? How does Nintendo screw that up and why was there so much worry about a Wiikey update? If you're using a Wiikey, you're probably using backups anyway and most people can apparently play this game just fine.

Could someone help me I downloaded Super Smash Bros Brawl NTSC_USA - Confirmed Working -emcubed_Afterdawn games wii thats the torrent I have.
I used image burn 2.4.0.0 and I know I used a cheap GQ DVD DL which could be my problem but I dont know if i have to change the layers on image burn for this ISO.
All i know the wii reads the game and after it created the save file it goes to loading and then right after that it goes to the white screen with green letter saying it cant read disc.
Did anyone else have trouble with this ISO I know it might be my DVD Dl discs probably need to get verbatim but before i spend money on new discs.
Please help

SUCCESS ON PAL 3.2E w/WIIKEY 1.9g
Grabbed the Wiizard USA release.
Applied the ppf to remove the update.
Burnt on Aone DVD+R DL (RICOHJPN-D01-67)
imgburn @2.4x - no manual layer break
Put disk in Wii and it asked to update which I ok'd.
After reboot SSBB showed up in game channel and ran without any noticeable problems - online play etc. though I haven't really looked at everything yet.
Notes. The Aone disks were chosen because they were the best my local shop 5 mins away have though I had also done some research and found that ppl were having good success with them, especially with Xbox 360 and also the odd guy with a Wii. They are relatively cheap so I was happy to give them a try. I tried to burn in my NEC burner which wouldn't entertain them at all so I nipped upstairs and popped one into my son's Pioneer DVR-111D 1.23(ATA). It burnt first time with no problems. After testing brawl the Wii seems in good order, no ill effects and all other backups still work with no problem.
Edit - yesterday my son got about 45 mins play with no probs but later when I went to play I got random lock ups - I reburned the Aones with different settings and was unable to resolve the issue so I'm going to grab some other disks and give those a go.
Ok - I grabbed some verbatims and burned 2 on two different burners at different speed. I still got the lockups. Then my son played again for a while without problem. The only thing that he changed was choose a different character to me. I always chose Mario to test and so I then tested with other characters. No lockups so far when not using Mario even with the Aone disks burned earlier. So that leads me to believe my image is somehow slightly corrupt. I can live with that for now because I'm more concerned with being able to get a good burn on DL so I'm prepared when the proper PAL release of SSBB eventually gets here. I'm disappointed only in the fact that I forked out for the verbatims too quickly cos I bought 5 and they cost me double what the 10 Aones did. Still I haven't had the problems many others have with this game and it's quite a good laugh. :)

Been going crazy trying to get this to work. No success with backup, but original game runs flawlessly. All other games (backups and originals) run flawlessly, including Super Mario Galaxy. Already $40 spent on DL media, and so far all coasters. Here are my details.
D2B (legs not cut)
PIC 12F629
I have tried first Yaosm ver.2 final, and then updated to and tried Yaosm ver.3 final (supposedly better DL support).
Ripped using retail copy of SSBB using latest version of Friidump, ISO is proper size (8,511,160,320 bytes).
Burning using HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-H21L drive, no firmware update available.
Have tried using Nero 7, Nero 8 and Imageburn (both with and without the manually inputed layer break) to burn.
Have tried using Memorex DVD+R DL (made in Taiwan, I believe they are actual repacked Ridata's) at 2.4x (only speed available, verified flawlessly).
Have tried using Verbatim DVD+R DL (made in India) at 2.4x (only speed available, verified flawlessly).
Anyone have any ideas on what may be going wrong here? Wii gives unable to read disc message in disc channel almost every time. SSBB screen did appear in disc channel a few times with different copies on the Verbatim discs during a period of about 5 minutes yesterday (on Yaosm ver.2 final), they all seemed to work, but then would throw error 001 unauthorized device once I started the game. Before those few times, and ever since then, it's been all unable to read disc (the same discs that showed up and started, now won't), with no SSBB showing up in the disc channel. I'm losing my mind, and have about 20 coasters sitting here in front of me. Every other backup works flawlessly, the originals all work flawlessly (including SSBB), and I'm pretty sure that my dump is good, because it is the proper size and the screen did load in the disc channel those few times.
Any ideas? Anyone? Help?

Ok, so I've made a backup of my SSBB using FriiDump and burned it at 2.4x on Verbatim DL media. The game boots flawlessly, but I still get the Error #001 detecting the wiikey. Any solutions? Please?
Thank You!!!

I don't know if this will work but I would always get that with my JAP DVD9 copy of Brawl. All I did was brickblock the .iso using the newest wiibrockblocker (v.1.32R I think) and that error #001 never came up again.

erm - I don't get why you shouldn't need to set the manual layer break. I didn't set one but there doesn't seem to be any conslusion about it one way or the other. Also I've read that not setting it, in some cases, affects the game when you get so far into it so I'm not counting my chickens - and I have a wiikey as well.

I dont know whether i should d/l a backup copy of SSBB. If this whole thread is about some crazy complications with just burning the game, then i'll just put a switch on to my wiikey

From what I understand....Yes because it will be as if the wiikey isn't even there.
The only reason I haven't done that yet is because I don't want to open up my wii again and have to cut a hole in the actual casing. If I open up my wii again it'll be to install an infectus2 modchip to replace my wiikey.

I did the same, then I adjusted the "Booktype" and set the layer breaker to 2084960 as someone list earlier.

Success!
After going to 12 different stores, I finally found some Verbatim's that were made in Singapore, not India (Best Buy, $19 for a 10 pack in jewel cases, which is odd, because they have 20 packs of the garbage made-in-India Verbatim's without cases by the spindle for $53, which makes no sense at all).
The Singapore Verbatim's work flawlessly. P.S.- to anyone out there wondering if it's just a case of bad media, if you put the disc in your Wii and it beeps, clicks 3 times, and then nothing, it's probably your media. Good media will start spinning in the Wii's drive whether or not there's anything properly burned to the disc. Garbage, non-working media will just beep, then click 3 times, whether or not there's anything burned properly on the disc. I feel like this lesson should be posted everywhere, it would have saved me a lot of time and headaches.

Thanks I'll give that a try next. Right now I'm burning the Wiizard download of SSBB as I read in previous posts that this works by just burning it. Still pissed that I can't actually use my original copy though.

K, so what page was that one? I don't know anything about booktypes. I have a philips dl dvd+r burner. Would you mind walking me through exactly what you did? I burned a dl copy of ssbb and I let it update (same region and I already have 3.2U) It rebooted and I see ssbb in the disc channel but when I try to play it it says error 001 blah blah detected.
Really appreciate any help...thanks.

If you are still getting an error burning - post the ImgBurn log.
If you didn't save it - use test burn - it a simulation burn. Press "L" to start a log.
The i/o device error is pretty generic - input output error that can be caused by different things like media.
@cletoz
Booktyping makes a +R disc appear to be a DVD-Rom to a player, console etc. increasing compatibility.
Not all drives support this but most Philips do.
What's the model #?

Well, I've tried pretty much everything, including buying a new burner, and still no luck. I keep getting the green screen right after the loading screen. I've made a DVD5 version that works perfectly, but I would really would like to see all the movies on the DVD9 version. As a last resort, I just ordered Memorex DVD+R DL's that go up to 8x. Hopefully they will work. Does anyone have any other suggestions before I open up my Wii to see if I can "clean" the laser?

Well, it took me a while to get this game working but I finally succeeded after I replaced my LG-H62N by a new Pioneer DVR-212D updgrade to firmware v1.24. I just used some Ridata DVD+R DL 8x, burned at 2.4x with ImgBurn v2.4.0.0 and "break layer" set at 2084960 sectors on L0. That's the first thing I tried with the new burner and it worked perfectly!
With the old LG, I even tried burning the game on DVD-R DL 4x (rare medias) and nothing worked. I had the error message that asked to eject the CD and reboot whenever I launched the game.
I am glad I finally got SSBB working, it was driving me nutz.
