Burn a DVD5 version. You can even edit it with the Trucha Signer so that you can play the SSE (although you will have to skip every movie).

Gday,

I'm running my PAL wii with 1.9g and 3.0E.
Successfully burnt SSB with verbatim +DL and patched it to PAL. It loaded perfectly on the first try but froze on the update at 90%. Turned off the wii and tried to run the update again. However it freezes immediately after i accept. All other backedup games are still running perfectly. Is it because of 3.0E?

@pmaknelho
I might be misunderstanding your question but I don't think there is a pal version of this game out yet.
I'm guessing you have the NTSC version. Make sure the Wii is up to date on the firmware - 3.2U. If it's the NTSC the update should be fine.

Help please?
If you are burning with imgburn as commonly advised then the read error is down to media and/or burner.

Also in stating your problem you should post as much detail as possible. eg. the type of media, burn speed etc.
NTSC Wii
WiiKey Chip
3.2U Update
1.9g Chip Update
Memorex DVD-R DL
2.4x Burn Speed
ImgBurn 2.4
Friidump 0.4

I'm using a Philips burner. Game was burned succesfully, but I can't get past the wiimote warning screen. I get the "Read Error." I set the layer break to user specified.

hey everyone!

I am having some problems using friidump and hope someone here can help. I haven't been able to find the iso after making the dump. I've tried the solutions on the " How to use Friidump" thread and it is not working for me. I tried both friidump -d d: -a and friidump -d d: -i ssbb -4 and both times it went 100% successful and i cant locate the iso after. I created the friidump folder in program files and dragged the exe into that folder...i'm using the LG 8164 drive...is their anything i'm doing wrong here? plz help!

I keep getting freezes with a nasty noise out of the wii...that being said, I can deal with it, doesn't affect how awesome this game is...

Just wanted to let everyone know a success story. Downloaded the Wiizard USA copy. Burned it using IMGBURN onto a DVD-9 (HP brand) at 2.4x. Popped it in my NTSC-USA WIIKEY D2B modded system and it worked first time. WOOHOO

I am perplexed as to why everyone insists on using 2.4x on their burner. Why not burn at 1x and get a cleaner copy? Wouldn't that insure a better chance of SSBB working, instead of guessing the the speed could have been a problem?

Just a thought, I would rather wait the extra hour instead of making all those coasters for your cheap bear now that you invested in all those trashed dvd's...

All I get is an error message reading:

"Failed to set L0 Data Zone Capacity!
Reason: Write protected"

can anyone poiont me in the right direction? thanks!

sometimes, burning at a slower speed will result in a bad burn. 2.4x has been successful in burning all game console iso's, which is why it's recommended speed.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Okay, so I have a working Super Smash Bros. Brawl NTSC DVD9 working (no brick breaker and no layer break) working on WiiKey 1.9G with system update 3.2U. Here is the steps I took,

1. Using friidump 0.4.0 created image (size 7.92GB or 8,511,160,320 bytes) Took approximately 6.5 hours.
2. Downloaded IMGburn 2.4.0.0
3. Using RiData DVD+R DL certified 8x medi, burnt image at 2.4x speed (changed from Auto speed)no other adjustments were made to setting of IMGburn. Also note that absolutely nothing was done ISO file.
4. Disc burnt without any issues (approximately 45 minutes to completion)
5. Started my Wii with no disc in the drive. At this time it was at 3.1U with WiiKey 1.9G firmware. I manually updated to 3.2U and rebooted. Tested Super Mario Galaxy and a couple other copies without failure.
6. Inserted SSBB and asks to do an update, performed it with baited breath. After a quick reboot I was relieved to see my Wii dashboard and SSBB in the disc/game channel
7. Started game successfully. Tested Solo mode and multi-player mode, as well as Story mode. Eveything worked without failure, including sound and video (no drop-out from what I have been reading has also been an issue)

I firmly believe the update included on the disc is an update to allow the wii to read the dual-layer disc alone. Hope this helps others, cause it worked for me.

Drive used to rip : LG 8164B in external housing
Drive used to burn : NEC 6550A (in a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop)
Media Used : RiData DVD+R Dual Layer 8x Certified
Software : IMGburn 2.4.0.0
Speed : 2.4x

Cheers,
Smouley

*note* I burned it without layer break and it was a coaster...then I tried it with the layer break and it worked perfectly!!

I browse and read nearly about 50 pages... and couldn't really find an answer to my questions.

I want to know will a retail version (NA or JAP) of SSB works on a Japan Wii (purchased about a month ago in Hong Kong) with an unknown chip inside? =( now, am back to America can't find out...

I heard the backup Jap version works but does a NA backup version of the game works on a Japanese Wii? (not sure if this helps "SMG JP" works fine on the Wii)

Will either both version retail or backup have a chance to brick the JP Wii if I update it, if I insert SSB in the Wii and decide to go with the update? (just in case I decide to insert the disc inside)

Thanks from a Wii n00b :P

Finally, success!! As stupid as this may sound, if you keep getting the green screen whenever a movie should start playing, try changing the way you insert the disc into the Wii. I think this also changes the way the Wii reads te disc. I did this with one of the "so-called" coasters I had lying around, and to my amazement it worked. Yessss! Btw the disc I put in was a Verbatim DVD+R DL burned at 2.4x with IMGBURN. I had extracted the main.dol file from the iso to patch the 001 error, and then i burned it. Wiikey 1.9G, NTSC-U Wii. So remember, if you keep getting errors during the movies, experiment with different ways you insert the disc, it sounds crazy, but it works!

If the modchip is a wiikey then no.

You can brick your JAP Wii with the USA version if your Wii is not fully updated to 3.2 online. JAP version should be ok.

Maybe someone can help me?

I burnt USA version of SSBB here are my specs. I burnt it twice, no workie.

Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL Discs
IMGBURN - Latest version
First Gen Wii, North American
WiiKey with 1.9g
Latest Wii system update
Burned with layer thing set to 208whatever it was, whatever the instructions said.

I burned at 2.4x and at 1x and neither will work.

The first one worked once, it got disc read error during the initial cinematic, so i skipped it, then it got another disc read error during the cutscene after beating the first fight in adventure mode.

Then after that, it won't even load the game at all. It detects it in the main Wii screen, I go to load it it says Loading... then goes to a light green "Unable to read disc" screen.

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks
