lol - yup, infact, I'm hoping they don't read, ask questions and get no answers, then get banned for something stupid - keeps the more annoying freaks out of the live lobbies that I hang out in then! :)
Update on my status - stayed offline most of the ban hammer, only went online to check if I was banned or not, played gow2/fable on release days - never done saints row - spent alot of yesterday on cod5 with some mates with online coop - still not banned, using the NXE which I updated to on release day, and mines a sammy 1.4 if memory serves me. Hopefully the banhammers over until after xmas.

I think you're right. Worst part about it is M$ don't care if they made a mistake. They just want to rake in the dough for the holiday season.
This thesis has many questions..
If Microsoft could detect fw, or backups, then why does the xbox still let them boot? They could simply just stop pirated games working altogether and be done with it, since they could detect them... right?, as was their initial intention, what with all the security they invested in the machine to begin with..
Now this new dash has appeared, if they had some way to detect ( live or no live ) then surely they would have hardcoded that detection into their recent system update...

got banned this morning using 1.4 ixtreme not got cod5 or gears2 just signed in on dashboard with no game in console BANNED!
they are going to get you whatever its the chance you take.this is my second console after i got banned previously.i will just get another faulty console from ebay do xclamps and flash it with latest firmware when out!

Did you already update to the NXE or were you about to do so? Also, don't try to spread widespread panic without giving info.

playing your backups only offline will do nothing to help "protect" you from being banned. You said you read the 25 pages? It is said in here that your 360 ALWAYS makes a log of what you play, regardless if you are online or not.

Hi guys,
Not Banned, in Canada, never played any pre-release copies, waited until backups of retails were released. Played GoW2 online, Mirror's Edge, updated to NXE on official release. Playing older backups as well, Fable 2, Ninja Gaiden 2.

Sorry forgot to mention some Historical Facts:
I never went online at all (for the past 3 months since I bought my ps3) - flashed my Benq on 11/13, went online with GoW2 on 11/15.

Am I not right in saying that this looks more and more likely to be just cos we all played the games early. Has anyone who has not been playing any, and I dont just mean the recent games, games early been banned????
If this is the case, get a new arcade, reflash, redownload proper releases of the games and always just play on the release date, easy as.

No you are wrong, unfortunately....
A friend of mine was banned he only ever played 4 games online, i posted the list of games earlier, i have confirmed it by his tag also..
Battlefield 2 MC
Sega Rally Revo
GTA 4
R6 Vegas 2
None of them even had pre releases, and all these games were checked out 100% with mulleter by me personally.
He has played some other games offline, but absolutely NONE of the latest games, the rest are old.. such as COD 4, and again all of these games check out with mulleter

did not get a chance to upgrade dashboard as they banned me before i could do it.

Hey all
I'm not sure if i've been banned or not. Last night I couldn't log into live, it reported a DNS error but no code or anything like that.
This morning when i logged into xbox.com, there's a red exclamation under xbox live that says xbox live service alert, yet when i check my account status everything looks good.
I do have a modded system, not sure of which firmware, I played gow2, saints row 2, and codwaw offline, but only after the release date. I'm guessing my console has been banned but i'm not sure. Any ideas/feedback?

Post your status codes to be sure, but it just sounds like you couldn't connect. Obviously a DNS error would prevent you from connecting to live.

You were just banned from the original ban hammer. You didn't get banned from updating to the NXE. So when the bannings hit like a week ago, I'm guessing that you unplugged your console, or just didn't play it at all. But when you plugged back in, your banning was a result of that.

when that "leaked" dashboard apaired i installed it and obviously i couldnt connect to Live till 19th...well today i tried...and the xbox live test failed...it says something about the ISP. but when i look at the status code the last one is Z: 8015-190D wich means i'm banned(at least thats what i heard)
The Test failed msg i got
am i banned or what?

ok well for me and a bunch of my friends, here seems to be what we came up with
1)Didnt play gears 2, fallout 3 or anything early
2)Didnt install the leaked NXE
3)Dont have a large amount of games on your account with like 0-2 achievments
4)Have the latest firmware (1.4)
5)All your games pass 100% in mulleter
As long as you pass this checklist, i think you will be okay.. however this is just MY experiances, theres also a few more things that can help
1)If you didnt flash your firmware too long ago (like i just did mine a month ago)
2)If you live outside of the US
those things can also seem to help
of course even with all this a ban is still possible, but this greatly increases your chances of staying safe

Me and my brother both have Benq 1.4 and we were NOT BANNED. Never played downloaded games. Only backups straight from disc. We also are using NXE. Hope this helps.

I am thinking that Microsoft can detect all version of firmware. The banning is so random that it keeps everyone guessing.
