Unfortunately that only counts for if you delete the channels rather than formatting the whole system, this deletes all shop data meaning that if you log on again it'll start a whole new account and have no recollection of me ever having had an account.

i know that you can do that mii thing so you can save them on the comp is there anything like that for channels that can then be saved to a "new" wii like an unlocking thing so that i could take a channel from wii A and put it on wii B
I guess I am thinking that if you sent it in and they gave you a new wii or they formatted during the repair and sent it back, they will let you redownload for no additional cost plus your wii points would still exist.

Yes once you have successfully installed, you can delete the "exploit" save and copy your original save back.

Read the first post down at the bottom under cleanup.

You can safely delete those files from the SD card.

Yes I did this myself as well. My wife wasn't too happy at the tought of losing her file, and I figured the worst that could happen would be that I'd have to install it again. I didn't have any trouble. Apparently the file's only needed during install. For that matter, once you restart the wii I believe it automatically deletes the file.

Hi everyone,

Im trying to install the homebrew channel on a modded wii with the 3.4E firmware with using the twilight hack. Everytime i try this i go and talk to the man in the game and then changes to the screen where it is looking for the boot.dol file to install, i have this on the SD card and everytime it seems that it cant find this file.

Does anyone know why this is and if there is something i am doing wrong?
I have the boot.dol file in the root directory of my SD card too

Many thanks for your help :)

Is it worth installing rev 8 any ideas im new to the wii modding scene sorry if this is covered elsewhere in this thread.

I have updated the guide to include cIOS36_rev8 and cMIOS_rev3 which adds Game Cube Support for the backup launcher.

As well I added a Backup Launcher WAD #002 fix file so the backup launcher will be launched from the Wii Channel Menu instead of through The Hombrew Channel.

If you previously installed cIOS36_rev6 or cIOS36_rev7 then you can install it over.

FAT16 is the default setting. So set it to default. If there isn't a default setting then all I can tell you to do is try FAT32.

Most modchips have GameCube support. So there really is no reason to install the backup launcher just for that if your modchip supports GC.

There are allot of applications that can be run through The Homebrew Channel. But most applications have there own channel installer also.

If you have allot of homebrew applications to use then installing The Homebrew Channel and runing the applications from the SD Card would be better so you can save space on the Wii system itself.

If you only have a few homebrew applications you want to use then you might want to think about installing the application channel itself to the Wii Channel Menu.

Example:

Gecko OS can be ran from The Homebrew Channel or you can actually install Gecko OS to the Wii Channel Menu and boot it from there.

As you can see there are a few options that you have. But before we get into what homebrew applications are out there, we need to keep this thread about the backup launcher.

If you want more info on homebrew applications then go to the Ultimate Sticky Thread and look there.

Sure if you have the backup launcher installed. Also it's Homebrew, not Homecrew.

hey larrylje

I see you have updated your guide on march 16.

I previously installed IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad and the CIOS version that came with you download package before your guide uptate.

I would now like to upgrade and get the new cIOS36_rev8 with IOS36-64-v1042.wad. Do i need to do any specific thing like uninstall previous CIOS version or WAD or do i just proceed with the new cIOS36_rev8 install.

Also, for the new backup channel you added, will it overwrite my old 1 or do i have to delete it.

thx for help

OK guys I'm having a little trouble. My Wii has 3.4U firmware (yeah yeah I know) so I was following the portion of the guide for n00bs with 3.3 or 3.4. I got the HB channel installed but now I need to install IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad and it is nowhere to be found in the files provided. I tried to continue with Larry's guide and installed cIOS36_rev8 then when I tried to install WG_03_Backup_Launcher_Channel.wad I get "Installing Ticket...Error! (ret - -2011)"

No sure what to do now. I cant seem to find IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad anywhere (I've tried DLing Wii packs from torrents that claim to have this file but the wad folders do not have this file)

any ideas?

Sorry if this has been asked but I've been drinkin (st. patty's day) and reading a bunch of forums but the Wii seemes to have a little more scatter-brained mod following than say the NDS or PSP. So im a little confused.

Some people say that 3.4 is fine for homebrew other say that 3.2 is the best, and another forum said that downgrading to 2.0 is the best. :S bit confused.

X360 - iXtreme1.4 ||| Xbox - EvoX Dash ||| PS2 - CC 2.0 PRO SLE ||| Dreamcast ...lol ||| NDS - Acekard 2/M3 Simply/EZ Flash 3-1 ||| Rooted HTC Hero with Ic3rom

I don't know why members find it hard to find the IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad file.

Google it and you can find it.

Matter of fact go HERE and click on the MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service link in the serach list and you can download it there.
