Yes Fat32 (I did see out on the net to use Fat16 Have yet to try)
Currently trying aad22_v108 No luck though. How long after inserting disk should I expect the message
"Load Boot dol/elf?"
Thanks for the Quick reply

I really wish to get the options to back up and Run my games from a USB Drive. Sounds like a real great way to protect my games from kids. Also My Wii Drive I not sounding so hot. It has a little Click,Click,Click... noise with CD installed

Should I have all games removed also (CD's) I did any how. No mention of that in the Guide.

I got everything installed and it was fairly easy. Only one problem. I'm getting an error message ret-116 when I try to use wi-fi to dump a game. Also I get wii error message 52030 when I try and use wi-fi. I was fine before the install. Anyone have any suggestions?

Also can I put dvd dumper on the wii or does it stay on the sd card?

Just to bump the question about following this guide if you are on 4.1e now.
I'm still on 3.4 softmod, was about to follow the instructions on upgrading to 4.0 and then installing ios60 patch but then have noticed 4.1 is out, can I still following the instrctions to just upgrade to 4.1 and install ios60patch?

I can not 100% guarantee at this time if it will work. But have read on other forums that 4.1 can be hacked the same way 4.0 is hacked. So if your concerned then do a little searching yourself.

I have followed all of the instructions in your guide and can now play downloaded wii games. I am wondering if you would be able to tell me how to put DVD Dump onto my wii so I can backup my wii games and burn them? Another program I am interested in putting onto my wii would be the one that allows me to play DVD's, if you could help me it would be appreciated.

PAL user from NZ, wiikey V1 stopped recognizing my "backups", wii grew dusty.....6months later, saw this guide, upgraded from 3.2 to 4.0, followed the simple instructions, everything sweet, homebrew channel, playing wads, reading "backup" discs. And i'm a f*cking retard. If you're having problems, please do not produce any children.

So I am in need of a little help here please. I dont know if i am getting older and technology is just getting harder or what. I have my Wii and i know it got chipped about a year and a half ago. I am not sure which chip i have and need to order the special screwdriver to open it up and see what i got. I just downloaded punch out but cant play it and get error code0001. I am thinking maybe my chip needs updating. Someone also suggested doing usb loading. my questions are....

Softmod is that chipping?
How do i update to firmware 4.0? i have searched and all i get is people asking if its safe to do.
Basically where can i find the basics for all this where i can read from the begining and understand things a little more. I dont mind reading and learning i just cant seem to find where to start.

I appreciate the help and hope i can get my answers.

Larry I Just followed you guide, easiest and best one yet. Everything works great. I love it, thanks for making this so simple for the less knowledgeable. The next day afterI used your guide I get a message from nintendo on my wii asking me to update to 4.1. I started out with a 3.4U. I really want to get the 4.0 update so i can use the 32gb sd cards, for all the wad files and such. but now i can't update to 4.0 if i hit update won't it update me to 4.1 and if it does what will happen from there?

Yup Yup

Just for any of those interested out there, I bought a 3.4E Wii off ebay a couple of days ago, it arrived today but by this time 4.1 firmware had been released so I could not update to 4.0 and I was unsure if this guide would work if I updated to 4.1E. Anyway, i pushed on with it, and it works 100%, I have also installed USB loader using the guide on this forum and it also works 100%! Hope this puts some minds at ease

For those asking about LU64 and above I have updated the guide to include a link with a download pack which includes a read me file with directions on how to install the hack.

looking at the readme file it says:

"DO NOT INSTALL ANY OTHER CIOS AT THIS TIME! YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE R11 WHEN IT IS READY AND CONFIRMED SAFE"

and also:

"NEVER DOWNGRADE YOUR LU64 WII!! IT WILL BRICK!! DO NOT USE CIOSCORP OR IT WILL BRICK!!"

it appears in your instructions that you perform a downgrade and then an upgrade...maybe i'm a little confused.

can i install this hack then follow these instructions normally?

It says not to follow this guide if you have a LU64 or LU65 system. So no do not follow this guide. Follow the read me file included in the LU64fix download. After it is finsihed it should be fine to update the cIOS38_rev13a. Just do not install cIOSCORP or downgrade the system.

I installed bootmii before i softmodded my system (just in case), but there are posts saying that it could interfere with the install, worked fine for me though.
