I have had my xbox360 for a little more then half a year. I'm running 1.51 Ben-Q. I play many, many xbox360 games on xbl and off xbl. All my games are copied and they all seemed to work great with no problems until the recent ban wave which got me too.
Here is the thing I would like to point out. I used to download a game or two a week all checked by abgx360 all passed burned it played it. It wasn't until recently that my friend let me borrow his usenet account to download games. Within a week I had downloaded over 30+ games to my collection now totaling around 80. Before I would keep track of the games I downloaded and played and made sure not to play early before release date but after been giving the opportunity to download all and whatever games I wanted within a certain time frame I got overly excited and started getting sloppy. I went through so many games so fast I forgot to take the normal safety measures like say Forza 3 yea I downloaded it a few days before it came out and I even played it. The game that really flagged me though I believe would have been tekken 6 for I had downloaded the game a week early not being able to play it normally for it is a Wave 4 game and could not be read by my 1.51 Ben-Q with the normal methods of burning with abgx360 I went out of my way and found the Wave 4 to Wave 3 patch just to get it to run on my system and it did even though it didn't fully past abgx360 test due to verification and such. I even went online the day of the release date and it was all gravy until about a week after after the dashboard update or whatever that I had been banned.
I was very frustrated for a few days and after coming to realization I have to admit I believe I fucked up. I didn't follow the rules and not only that I realize it was like me rubbing it in M$'s face saying that they can't do shit about it and so they did.

Honestly right now the only game I care to play is MW2 and I don't mind spending $60 on it. I have been waiting all year on this game
As of when I checked the other night, my lite-on 1.51 was still NOT banned. Seeing as there is still no ETA on 1.61 for lite-on I will likely just buy the game (there's a new concept) and play it until this mess is figured out or I get banned, whichever comes first.

It does NOT matter. If you have played 1 'copied' game you already are unning the risk.

A good point, I don't doubt Microsoft has someone on the payroll that goes to check the popular sites for modding and flags those gamertags. They may not ban based on it, but I bet they watch their logs a lot closer....only reason I say is because my last employer used the same tactic to keep tabs on customers scamming the company out of airtime and data costs (worked for a cellphone company).

It does NOT matter. If you have played 1 'copied' game you already are unning the risk.
I know that... I have played multiple copied games on my 360. The point is I cannot play a copied version of MW2 because it is a wave 4 game and I have iextreme 1.51 on a lite-on drive which will not boot it. I do not have the tools to flash the drive myself, I pay a friend's friend to do it for me so I'm just going to buy a copy of MW2 so I can play it on Tuesday.

You can play wave 4 games on iX 1.51. Use the activate disc.
$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

i was playing DEVL MAY CRY 4...original game disc
my firm was ixtreme 1.6 and a liteon drive.
I cant no longer use my hdd, cannot install any full games or streaming from my pc....its useless

I personally think, that NO MATTER HOW HARD WE TRY TO EVADE IT, that MS can tell whether your playing modded consoles/copied games. This is a multi-billion dollar corporation were talking about here, they have the money and the know how to detect it. I think the whole "i never played this game early, or i have the latest version of ixtreme, and the all of my games were checked by abgx lvl 2/3 verifications" dont matter.
I got banned today, and i followed every fail-safe out there when it comes to flashing and back-up copies, and look at the end result. And truthfully i dont care that i've been banned. Thats the risk we take, and we all know the possible outcomes.

Its just the risk you run; we all knew it. Man up and buy a new Xbox like I did and join in the killing MW2 and L4D2! Keep the banned box for campaign only games. If you have truly played 20 or so or more free games then you the banned are still at vast money saving advantage. Thought this thread was the reason for the bans not a bitch session

I lost My addons for multiplayer play..but you lost a customer...i realiza that I waste my money buyimg addons and other crap, but my eyes are open now..geting a ps3 will be better because at ebay you can get godd condition games a vey low prices, is not expensive taking in account that with PS3 I don't have to pay a monthly fee to play online., so the winner is SONY!

I researched it. You are right... it would not have come out with 1.51, because 1.51 bypassed security checks (hence the reason 1.51 for Hitachi will boot wave 4) and therefore would not have needed it.
I guess it just felt to me like the activate iso had been around for so long that it must have been in 1.51. But I guess 1.6 has been around for quite a few months now.

The only variable that I see by talking to banned and non banned friends is that banned people all installed games on the box. The unbanned always played their games off the DVD.
Has anybody been banned that has never installed a game on the box.

Someone in the big ban wave thread posted a little while ago to say he got banned and he only owned a memory card - no hard drive.

It may be a process like detecting spam with a score. Different suspicious things flagged that gives a sort of score value and when someone reches it, console gets flagged for ban.
