Success!!!!! All I did was download new version of dvdfabdecrypter over my other one and I am now watching the copy.......Believe it or not I did read all the threads BUT you pros put several threads of several different things to do and I'm not a (bimbo) and I can read and can understand what I read......but common you have to admit if I hadn't read it I would have downloaded everything I read, when all it took was one simple update.....and some of the sights especially after dawn does not offer the downloads anymore (which is not their fault)....so before someone posts a place to go please check it out to be sure it's still available........I just can't believe after all that reading it was just one easy step......LOL I know everyone got tired of all the threads (the pros) but there wasn't any reason to get impatient because if the pros had read all the threads then they would've seen for themselves all the different versions and non available sights......but I still appreciate everything you folks do because I do learn from it........THANKS AGAIN!!!!! Now back to watching my copy LOL

Mumzee, when we post a reply, we usually rely on data/facts that we deem accurate and reliable. We do not check out each source prior to posting , so I say for all if we misled you, we are deeply sorry.
BUT, being AD for what it is and that it is you who is asking for the help, leg work on your part is not too much to ask for in return for the free help "by the PROS". We are not here to spoon feed you as we believe you are past the age for that, and you would not want that but instead want to learn to back up idependently of outside help. Consider the deadends as a learning expierence, use the search function here at AD, google it on the web, and post your results good or bad ( in the appropriate threads ). If Stumped, of course ask for help (We "PROS" ask for help also). This how you learn, and as a result you will become a "PRO" and in return will be helping out someone new to backing up in the near future.

I respect everyone at AD otherwise I wouldn't be here....of course I don't want to be spoon fed (nice thought though LOL).....I am learning and I would love one day to be able to help someone as I've been helped and it's nice to know that once and awhile the "pros" need help also......:) take care

That's what this site is all about mumzee... karma. We have all received help and learn new things every day to help others. Everyone needs help even the "pros", and I consider AfterDawn like an online family. Is that weird (haha)?
Cheers!

fixvts will correct the file so dvd shrink can handle it. so rip with dvdfab decrypter clean the file with fixvts then transcode with dvd shrink

All you gotta do is update your software.
I updated to latest version of Any DVD and it actually lets you use anydvd with ripit4me now - then you can put it in DVDshrink

You folks that are using Clone dvd 2, make sure it's updated to 2.9.1.5 I couldn't rip saw until I updated. Once updated, Clone and Any dvd did the trick for me.

AnyDVD and clonedvd did the movie only burn without any updates the night the movie came out. You should have been able to do it also. Glad you got it done.
to all: It was not necessary to run files thru fixvts to get movie done using latest version of Fab DVD the files opened fine in shrink if I remember correctly. I'll try it again to see.
@thugbear
Unless you have the platinum version of DVD Fab it does not recode the movie you must use something else like shrink, Nero Recode or clone DVD! You can tho, choose the movie only or full disc option in the free version. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about this since I rarely use Fab.Sometimes choosing movie only will get the movie at 100% and no recoding will be needed.

You have spoken true Sir Creaky.
@thugbear
Garmoon is right, try doing movie only and if it still needs to be compressed process through Shrink, or Recode.

thats true on some movies and alot of times you can make the file even smaller by running it though fixvts vob blanker and PgcEdit removing the junk. I've seen movies shrink another 1 or 2 gig using all these

iluvendo,
if I may ask you a question? I too had a problem with Saw4 hence ending up here.
I'm in the process of updating my programs(as recomended here) from the"DvdDecrypter-Rit4Me-FixVTS-Shrink" process to the newer DvdFab-ImgBurn programs,if DvdFab works as good as everybody says it does I'll buy it. But,I thought Fixit also removed alot of the undesirables?Or did I just misunderstand the explinations of it? Please keep in mind I'm a simpleton when it comes to the indepth software programs explaniations :).
Is the VOB blanker a must? Up to recently I ran FitIt on all my back ups and never had any problems until the last few months with the process when the back ups became hit and miss.
Thanks,
Chris

Chris
1) fixvts is a program that helps cleanup the table of contents (TOC) so that dvd shrink can work with and out put so that a dvd plaver can play well. Screwing up the TOC is a method of copy protection.
2) vob blanker allows one to blank out undesirables and cettain hidden files ( files that u can see but have no video value-remain black). I believe these black files ( as seen on the preview screen are really hidden subroutines that control your pc so that u cannot back up the movie, this is perhaps why shrink crashes.Good Luck Chuck had such a file of 190Mb in it that when opened by vob blanker froze my pc. Just blanking it allowed me to back up no sweat. That 190 Mb file cranked my cpu usage to 100% on a core 2 duo machine.
My method
1) rip with dvdfabhd
2)use fixvts full disc (I back up full disc)
3) use vob blanker
4) use dvd shrink ( output file as iso )
5) burn with imgburn
6) drink cup of coffee or brewski
7) Success and enjoy movie
Hope this helps Chris
