@imnomyth

you think all the other stuff is bad, did you read this from a member?

I am confused

As far as I understand it, ANYDVD is a background running program to help other backup programs work with protected DVD's,

So when people say "I used ANYDVD" what are they talking about?

How does one use ANYDVD by itself to backup a DVD?
double spaced yet and unbelievable
I agree w/ you in spades

Ok I got it to work with movie only. Now that anydvd has updated I tried it there and it has scanned however the movie is way to long. it will only allow for 4464 mb and it is 6300 long. which things can I uncheck to lower the space so that I can burn?

I successfully backed up Saw IV..

-Update AnyDVD to v6.3.1.2.
-Use AnyDVD to rip to HD (Right click on the fox and select "Rip video DVD to Hard disk")
-Use DVD Shrink to finish the job..

Enjoy

Hey everyone I have a problem. I finally got it to run through shrink but I get an error that says:

"the current dvd size is too big! if you continue you may not be able to burn the resulting files. Please ensure that video is set to automatic compression or try disabling auido streams.

Can someone help me out with this? I do not know how to disable audio streams all I know is that the green bar is at 4,464 and then a red bar after that at 6,302. is there a way to get rid of the red bar to be able to burn to a dvd?

Thanks for the help

Here's the Shrink guide at aD that will show you how to remove the audios. They're listed under audio.
It's very simple just uncheck them :)

Hmm.. well i thought it was going to be really complicated.. But so far so good i used the dvdfabhddecryptor (free) and then i used nero 7 nero vision with smart encoding and just had the vob files pieced together.. not sure if its going to work but so far so good. while watching the preview and the encoding.. Takes about 30 mins to put the files together and another 30 for the encode and burn.. so ill let you know the results.

Have you tried DVDFab's site - that's where they'll be.

Binkie,

I was wondering if I could ask you a question!

If i open the disk with shrik and let it do its thing, it will show me how much room the movie takes up. ( in this case too much space) I never have ripped a disk before I have always used anydvd and shrink and never had a problem being to large. I have read the post you had given me but if I am understanding it right is that I have to rip the disk first correct! then that should allow me to have the space right? I have burn the movie once but it is not the full movie it is just the movie, I would like to get the extras if possible. is there a way to do this with shrink or will i have to rip it???

Thanks for the help and sorry for being so uneducated with this stuff

Alllready here...
***I posted this question because my dvd drive will not recognize that a dvd is in there. there is nothing wrong with the dvd burn at all, its brand new, maybe 3 months old or so. As i noted previously i ripped & burned the game plan just fine. i know its the dvd itself, but is there a way to get the dvd drive to recognize? First I ripped the game plan, then tried to ripp saw iv - didn't work, so i burned game plan, then went back to saw iv again - nada!

You don't always have to rip 1st but with this movie using Shrink I would.
Use the latest AnyDVD - 6.3.1.2 and rip w/ that - it's very easy.

Create a folder you want to rip/save it to.
Right click on the red fox in your system tray (bottom right hand side of your screen)
Pick 'rip video dvd to hard disk' - the ripper part of AnyDVD opens.
Next to destination directory click on the folder icon and pick the folder you created.
Now click 'copy dvd'.
Once it's done open those files in Shrink using the open files icon. Pick the folder and just use shrink as usual.

Binkie7,

here is what i did: I used dvd decrypter and when that was finished I then opened the files with shrink however it is still the same length and gives me that warning of it being too big.

I am not sure how to get it smaller.

If you would be so kind to help me out that would be great! I tried to uncheck a few different things and it goes down by like 100 but not enough?? I dont know where to go from here to get it smaller?

Thanks again for the help and patience

Don't rip with decrypter - use the AnyDVD ripper instead. It has something similar to FixVTS which cleans the files while it's ripping.
It will give you a cleaner file that Shrink should then be able to handle.

Well that should have done it - the a couple of posts in this thread I think that that method worked.

Try ripping w/ DVDFab HD Decrypter - 4.0.5.5.
If that doesn't do it - then I'm stuck.

I have been able to do this backup 4 different ways.

1. Any DVD 6.3.0.9 rip with Nero Recode using (Remake a DVD) select title 1 only, Movie only, then burn. This one was the fastest.

2. DVD Fab Platinum 4.0.5.1 This took the longest. movie only

3. Clone DVD with ANY DVD 6.3.0.9 movie only

4. Rip it 4 me 1.4.5.0 w/ fix VTS.1.4.0.3 removing < > brackets. works also. I did a full backup using this method.

Alllready for whatever reason some drives have problems reading some hard to do new releases I have a new sata Lite-On that has the same problem now and then when my Plextor/Pioneer drive will read it fine. thats why i always have two different brands of drives in my case. using the latest beta versions of dvdfab decrypter or anydvd may fix that correct the drive reading it
