I have a problem making backup games i own.. i keep getting a error when i try and play it on the backup launcher. Here is the process that leads me up to my Error Message
1)Using Raw Dump 2.1 w/ lg dvd burner
2) Raw dump detects wii game and the name and dumps the game in 2.5 hours successfully
3) the game is then a zip file in the rawdump folder (its the right size)
4) open image burn and copy the image and (using verbatim -R Dvds @ 4x speed) it works fine and gives me a message saying it was successfully burnt
5) put the game in the wii open up the backup launcher
6) ''' DVD Read Err (324) no CIOS''

I have not made a copy lately, but I think you need to unzip the file first, then burn the inage. Everything else looks good.

I do not use Rawdump 2.1, but AFAIK, Rawdump doesn't create .zip files. It creates an .iso file which you then BURN,(not copy) to a DVD-R using imgburn.
Almost everything that you've listed as part of your procedure is not part of the normal procedure.

The LG-816x drives are discontinued and no longer available new in stores. You may find some retailers that have old stock, but most likely you will have to buy used.

Not trying to be an advertisement, but I found one at www.foundmy.com. It appeared to be used, but works great. This is teh same place I bought my mod key from.
Look under wii>accessories>pc DVD drive. $45.00. Works great.
And for the guy asking about Rawdump - it does not create .zip files. It creates .iso files that are just a bit over 4GB. Wondering if maybe you got a modified copy of rawdump? Sounds fishy to me.

cheers,
This does not appear to be one of the drives that is supported to back up the Wii games. Have you tried it? When I tried on my DVD player that I already had installed, it simply would not even read the disk. Once I installed the LG that I bought, it reads them fine.

Like I said, I have not done it for a whhile so I do not remember the procure correctly. It really is simple so something must be wrong. What OS are you using? Did you install netframe as well as raw dump?

Hi all
I have not backed up a wii game for about a year now, but didn't need a mod chip back then. When did mod chips become necessary to play backups?

They didn't...all you need is cIOS249 and a backup loader (disc/sd/usb hdd)
I'm on 4.2U and this is all I have, aside from the HBC and all that of course.

Is it possible to make a copy of a copy , or do i need the original(orginal dvd is broken, i do have a good working copy)
This is how i do it :
1)Using Raw Dump 2.0 lg burner GRD 8162B (windows XP incl .net framework 3.1 )
2) Raw dump detects wii game and dumps the game in 2.5 hours successfully
3) the game is then a iso file in the rawdump folder (its the right size)
4) open image burn and copy the image and (using verbatim -R Dvds @ 2x speed) it works fine and gives me a message saying it was successfully burnt
5) put the game in the wii
6) does not play (wii mod chip)
I have burned a number of iso's and had no problems (but those where downloaded )
What do i do wrong ?

To make a copy of your copy
Just use imgburn to read the disc and make an ISO image
Then burn the ISO image as you have always burned them.

Ok
So you just have to do the other things if you want to make a copy from an original?
Thanks

You can copy a copy of a disc with any DVD-ROM burner.
To backup an Original Wii disc, you will need the Drives mentioned in the first post, or througout the last few pages a few newer ones were mentioned.

There is no way possible to produce 1:1 copies on normal
PC equipment... Even with a relaxed interpretation of
the term "1:1 copy" there is no way to produce a running
copy from PS3 originals.
So this is for sure plain fraud...
I guess that´s the reason why there is no
evaluation version available.
