I must say to all you race fans in the US that you are very well behaved, if this had happened in Australia we would have torn the place down.

i was surprized that we didn't riot! If none of the cars would have went out then surely the fans would have destroyed something, hell during the late 80's and eartly 90's we used to set cars on fire for fun during the Indy500. There were a few that were throwing bottles and stuff, but nowhere near what i expected. i think it was the shock factor that kept everyone calm.

Michelin really screwed up - I guess the superior attitude of the Michelin teams ('looking down their noses' at the poor Bridgestone runners) has been tempered somewhat, heh? LoL :^)
Michelin "cannot guarantee the safety of the tires"...
More rubbish - they couldn't do that in Canada and they won't be able to in France either! You build the best tire you can, and can never guarantee that it will not go flat or explode (used to happen all the time).
But modern F1 is now so much more an endurance race! The tire mfgs must look at it like that.
To finish first, first you must finish...
But I still say the Michelin teams should've changed to whatever rubber they needed to run (even Bridgestones), accepted whatever penalty (who cares?) and then run.
Michelin says blah blah 'for safety', LoL - whatta joke.
If the fans sue IMS, then IMS sues the FIA, then the FIA sues Michelin - now we're gettin' somewhere.
Michelin has admitted the incompetence, and the financial ramifications could (should) be huge.
But the poor spectators! Man, I'm glad I didn't attend that race...

TIFFOSE !!! :Þ

Great to see Ferrari get their act together , I couldn't have wished to see a better qualifying result personally (YaY).

LMFAO @ Kimi having usual rear suspension failure (sure it's not funny for him , but I have mates that are mainly McLaren supporters]

hi :)
great race today. not sure what i think of the new qualifying format, time will tell.
i've followed Jensen from the start ( being as i was born and bred in the same town). it looks like he needs to spend a week doing nothing but starts. lets him down every time

Rosberg did well on his first time out. Looks like it will be pretty competitive this year, good to see tyre changes. Missed the qualification, so am not sure how the rules work, but it has to be infinitely better to the previous boring farce! How many laps qualifying do they get?
Glad Alonso won, Raikkonen did well. he has a knack of getting through the pack, very quick driver.

qualifying is like all cars do a time within 15mins , slowest 6 cars go out (and get slotted accordingly)
then cars that are left start again (no aggregate times) to set fastest times , slowest 6 cars go out & get slotted in position etc

much better to watch I must admit

edit : typo

The only thing that lets Raikkonen down is reliability. I hope that Mclaren can sort out their cars. I think that we could have a good season, there are a lot of very capable drivers out there, I just hope that the teams can give them top motors to work with.

Ok then which track is your faves & why?

Mine is Spa, Eau Rouges is an awesome bit of track. I love the size of it, a proper drivers circuit. I am still gutted that they wrecked Hockenheim, they should never have removed the outer section through the woods, let alone when they put in the chicanes on those stunning sweeping curves! Yes, right on Sir Pulsar - Spa Francorchamps rocks, a proper circuit indeed!
I too miss Hockenheimring (the 'real' one, 6.8km) including Ostkurve taken at ~300kph +
Gone but not forgotten...
They said that the slow chicanes on old Hockenheim required brutal braking, but brakes tended to cool off on the long straights so it was a real adventure for the drivers (and spectators too :^)
I also love Imola, Belgium and of course Monaco.
But all year I look forward to going to Montreal in June! One weekend of absolute heaven, floating in the middle of the mighty St. Lawrence River.
Having been to both Montreal and Indianapolis, I can tell you the contrast is startling. Montreal rocks!
I didn't know Speedway Indiana was like that...
Kimi Raikkonen in just one word: Unstoppable!
He's just too much (and Montoya is no slouch y'know).
Kimi is simply amazing: you WATCH it but still don't believe it, LoL
So there's my pick, Kimi. Predictions anyone?
Good to see you Herbsman,
Regards

I upped a small portion of my F1 clip collection for a mate so i figured some of you might like it as well, this will be active for 7 days - http://s42.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2I3ATOE43PRU7128RGZYLBR0IX

these are mostly fatal crashes, which really sucks, but it's nice to have. Some are just of really bad crashes that make you think someone should have died, but they didn't :)

EDIT: - it's 57.4mb, sorry dialuppers

Thanks Darth :^)
I grabbed that, it came in pretty good (3min 13sec).
I'll take a look...
I predict the end of this 2-race engine nonsense! Mark my words.
Apparently these engines cost MORE than an engine which lasts one race (which was not the intent of the legislation).
I'm liking the Williams Cosworths in Malaysia, not sure why, just a feeling... (bet they will be happy to beat crap out of BMW, or what? :^) LoL
Damn race is 1:30AM local time (Ontario).

I concur about 2 race engines , been at least 10 cras that have changed this week & think Massa has had 2 engines this qualifying/practise alone (Ferrari have lot to answer for atm , other teams have guessed it's a rings problem ... they ran sound of Ferrari thru a sound lab to detect it .. mad that other teams are doing that now imho) lol.

Uh-Oh , we have chances this could turn into a rant here :-)

Williams Cosworths are looking good , that I agree with too ... great to see a rookie giving it large portions.

Race is 7am here in U.K (TV coverage starting at 6am , is 1am now & I'll be trying to stay awake .. like I did for qualifying)
Only for the hardcore ! :cÞ

C'mon Jenson !!!

Williams and Red Bull - ouch! That's gotta hurt.
I have the luxury of receiving both the worldwide ITV feed (out of UK) and the SpeedTV coverage from USA.
The American guys are very good, they're funny.
'Ka-blammo' they say, and chortle with laughter when somebody blows up... David Hobbs is on the crew, any of you Brits remember him?
Anyway, excellent coverage - thanks SpeedTV :^)
But I still miss Murray Walker.
Poor Jenson, he's really doing it all by himself isn't he - where's my man Rubens...?

LoL :^) Plenty of ka-blammo in that last race...
ITV guys chitty-chat constantly about extraneous stuff; they don't seem to be aware of exactly what we're seeing on our screens (the feed).
SpeedTV guys are obviously watching same thing we are - they describe what is being seen at that moment.
ITV guys should pay attention more...
But both coverage very good! As long as don't both go to commercial advert at same time, LoL.

I abhor inane drivel with commentators. Some feel they have to be talking all the time. The only chap I have time for is Brundle. He is extremely well versed in F1 driving & engineering aspects, he can interview anyone he pleases, as he has respect in the pit lane. He rarely talks nonsense, if ever!
As for the other pillock, he sucks ass big time, I wish he would put a sock in it.

I concur , Martin (Brundle) talks a lot of sense & it's great to have him in the commentary box. Firstly added I believe cos Murray Walker wasn't getting any younger & was missing the odd thing on track .. still that was part of Murray's charm (no one ever had so much expertise & enthusiasm in their commentary on the subject).
James Allen is the pillock in question & I too agree that he is somewhat of w@nker , but saying that I would much rather listen to him than any american commentator(s) being all falsely over-enthusiastic (probably named something like Art & Jed) lol
I used to watch the F1 on BBC [which was the best obviously , as no adverts] but since moving to ITV it's a bloody nightmare w/ adverts happening after only 3 or 4 laps in sometimes. Did have Eurosport channel & could switch over so as to not miss any (unfortunately not an option anymore).

Anyway , Jenson should of been 2nd in the last race ... if only the stupid arse back markers would've gotten out of the way quicker.
I didn't notice if 3 or more blue flags were waved , but hope they (FIA) look at that footage.

That's excellent Darth :^) Very nice clip, enjoyable.
It's at Imola (San Marino) of course.
You can see the OUTRAGEOUS acceleration just after Traguardo, before the finish line - it really puts it in perspective.
Michael looks very young, it looks like that demonstration run was performed in the 90's...
Thanks Darth (and those other clips were nice too).
Yeesh, I can't believe Ayrton's been gone for 12 years now!
David took over his seat and is now considered an old veteran...
