Well it's pretty much over for this season as Ferrari have dominated again.
So I thought I would revive the thread to see if we have some new addicts to Formula 1 (can't see how, as it has become a little tedious)..............
Anyways, I am pissed - yes it is official.......
Bastard Ford, what the hell are they doing, selling off the Forumula 1 sections, Jaguar, Cosworth.........
If nothing gets done it may lead to only 7 teams next year as the Minardi and Jordan also utilise the cosworth engines...................
Money, money, money.............Just because they haven't made the expected turnover, it's up for sale............we shall see how it unfolds, but IMO I think it would be a backwards step.............
How about us at Afterdawn having a whip round and making a purchase ourselves, The Afterdawners........sounds nice and I think we could be better than Ferrari
And what is this crap about Trulli and Villeneuve.
Man that sucks, Trulli has accumulated the main bulk of points for Renault and gets trashed, Flavio you are a spineless freak - power gone to your head then eh...............
But no of course it hasn't, as JV, has knocked on your door and said' Yer know Flav, I am really pissed off, the BAR team have gone from strength to strength without me, and JB and TS are doing so well, it actually humilliates me and all of my friends are taking the piss out of me. Can I race for you?
Flav replies 'Well, I have an issue with one of my drivers, he is leaving anyway (and the fact that I do not like him), so I could kick him out if you could pay me a little, how about that?
JV responds, 'Ok, deal, kick him out, I shall race for you, and also at the end of the season, I shall migrate to Sauber, How would that be?
Flav says, 'Yes why not I hate Trulli anyway, cos he has better hair than me'.
JV is a complete hypocrit, he throws in the towel cos he is crap, realises just how crap he was, as BAR perform better without him, and then forces Trulli out of the door...............Thats how it looks to me anyway.........................
Enough of the issues, How are you liking the CHinese setup?
I think it looks smart, race track has some issues regarding the VERY slow corners, and the 11/12s straight, the drivers could have a coffee down there...LOL.....
RB did exceptionally well grabbing pole, and also the BAR are looking very handy, could this weekend be triumphant for them?
And yes I could not leave without making a comment about MS.........
What a tit, nice spin, well recovered but you really splashed it, big time........
And the funny thing is, in his interview afterwards he denounced any hint of a mistake by him.....
C'mon Michael, you are human and that was a Schuey splat, plain and simple............
You were too slow on your outlap, no heat in your brakes and tyres, nearly lost it on the last corner before the qualifying run, and then you lose it into turn 1.......................and you believe it was the car...........hold your hands up and admit, that you should have pushed it a little on the outlap and you didn't and not even Mr control could keep it stuck to the track....................
YOU F..ked UP LMFAO
And that is strange coming from a fan, but it was nice to see, and I bet all you anti-Schuey/anti-Ferrari people all LOVED IT...................
I hope we have a lot of overtaking and not just a one horse race (not meaning that Ferrari will win).
And hopefully we can see what Schuey is ALL about as he starts from the back - will he be a contender, or are Ferrari now backing RB?
Put down your forecasts................
1st RB
2nd JB
3rd FA
An JV is not gonna finish as Trulli's spirit will force him out LOL......................have fun....

The Chinese did well ... is a great looking complex & track !:c)
Wish there wasn't such a time difference tho - 6am start [tried to watch live but fella sleep ... d'oh]
Great to see Jenson be as consistent as ever , as Ive never been one that's spoken bad about him [maybe patriotism you miay think but most fellow brits I have spoken to reckon he's not all that & they dont like him cos he's all cocky etc] LOL
Did you hear in pre-race banter that some were saying Michael Sch. purposefully spun out in quals [never heard such rubbish in my life - hehehe]
Off to get roast dinner together :cP

Oh man, the race started 2AM here - I barely got to bed before the sun came up.
(yawn)
Michael, Michael, you got yourself lapped.
Well so did J.V. but he didn't start last.
Actually Jacques drove OK I thought, (he was pushing) but it's weird to see Trulli in 5th place in the championship, and he's not there...
I would've loved to see Jenson pip both of them with his 2-stop strategy, but at least he got Kimi.
Kimi didn't look very impressed either, did he, LoL
It's great to see 2 or 3 drivers approaching 100 points, and making it look competitive even though Michael has it won.
Did you see him when he took out the Jag of Klien I think it was, he had no business passing for position from back there!
I suspect he has lapped Klien so many times, that his brain refused to realize the guy was in front of him... :-)
I like Jenson and Kimi - I would have loved to see either of them win in China.
Did you guys see Luca DiMontezemolo up there to claim the trophy? There's something you don't see every day - the Big Guy jumping around blinded by champagne, completely drenched, LoL
They didn't need Michael; talk about a one-two punch...
Yeah who wants to run Jag, any takers?
And, whose race gets chopped next year?
They have announced 17 only. Be a shame if they chopped Imola (Ayrton would never RIP)

To be honest, after I had written the 'F1 bring back post', I had a coffee, opened up the TV guide and found that the race was on at 6am.....man I was upset as, yesterday
I looked in the TV guide and it said 14:15, so likewise that was the time I was shooting for.......not realising (I am a dumbass, now realised), that it was like many hours in front of us, so how could it be shown at 14:15......duh.......
So I made sure, no-one spoke to me, turned the mobile off, unhooked the phone, locked the doors and closed the windows and watched loads of dvd's until it was on.............................
Yep, nice opening race for China - Well done..........
Plenty of scandal, punctures and Schumacher ALL over the show..........................
I do still support him and Ferrari.....even though it was nice to see he was crap for a change.......Congrats to RB, back to back wins, who knows (hopefully) this is the turning point for RB and he can become more on a par.
Nice race from Button, and well deserved.
His win is just around the corner, and I hope it comes this season as his 'contract' dispute is still a little blurry.
Even though, the strong rumour is that he will stay at BAR.......hope so, as I think he is developing alot better with them and you can see the hunger growing, thjrough his interviews and of course on the track.........................C'mon you Brits, let's get behind Jenson for the rest of the season.........
Yes Kimi seemed a little side tracked and did not seem to have the attacking thing going on.
As for Jacques, who really cares, I tell it comes to something when a fellow sportsman knives you in the back aswell as your boss...............
I know that is sport, but still......
I just hope Trulli is here next year AND rather than spraying the champagne (from his win OVER Renault), he chucks the magnum at Flavio, on your head son......and no hard feelings......LOL.....
9 pages now..................lovely........

F1 what a great sport which is now turning in to the red circus with the Great German driver making clowns out of the rest.F1 is becoming boring and this is because of what great drivers achievements.Total respect for Michael Sch but he's turning the F1 in to a bore.Who will win the title next year the same guy again and the year after the same again unless he gets bored of winning.I would like to see Jason Button replace Barricelo and Shu forced to race him all year. This would breathe new life in to F1.

As an avid Ferrari fan (and schumacher fan), it is sad that I DO agree with you, but I do...........
We want to see hard racing and cars of the same standards so that it is entirely down to the drivers on the track.....
As for Jenson, his time is just around the corner and I shall be backing him every step of the way, even if it comes to a straight fight between him and Schuey....
Sorry Michael, but got to be Patriotic in these instances, unless there is a monetary award coming in my direction of course....................

LoL :-) If I was really patriotic I would be upset at you for disliking Jacques... but, WTF.
Actually Jacques is okay, it's Flavio's fault what happened.
Jacques was simply asked to help beat BAR, and that really piqued his interest...
So, next race Suzuka
I bet Honda has a 20,000 RPM engine up their sleeve for that one!

You are probably correct, it is just how it comes across on the TV, and yes it is probably more Flavio than Jacques...............
Apologies Jacques, but I do believe Trulli has got such a raw deal, and I hope he DOES show Flavio a little of the 'dark side'......LOL
Yes roll on Suzuka, this is where I am plumming for Jenson, I think he has a real big chance of securing his long awaited Victory

Yes, it does sound a little like it is for the axe....
Still keeping my paws crossed though..............
There is alot of Heritage at Silverstone and I think there are two main factors that are causing this.
Lack of modern facilities - compared to the recent Chinese and Malaysia Grand Prix venues being such extravagance.
Nightmare of a journey to get to.
I don't think the track itself is in question as it is one of the most fulfilling on the calender in terms of fast speed and overtaking oppertunities.
Personally I think the National Lottery should step in help out, afterall they do in everything else.......
We need to keep hold of Silverstone, as it really is the only decent track we have for Formula 1.
Questions were asked about brands hatch but, the issue there was Cash injection...............
Goddamit, Plough some money into it and let's keep it British................
Not saying anymore, as it is annoying me more and more to think we are going to lose it..........
Fuckin' England sucks................

Yeh it all seems to be going down hill for British F1 in general.Best thing at the moment is the rise of Button as Courltard is just about finished.Button seems to be carrying the British flag now.I think should Ferrari dominate in the new season it will the interest in the sport will really decline.
I think if this trend continues some tv companys will soon pull the plug on F1.This will be a real shame as F1 is a great sport.Lets hope Ferrari has a bad season's and we have a different champion which would be good.As a Utd who has seen his team win the league many of times. It was still exciting as we had the Arsenals around to push us all the way neck and neck.
Yet Ferrari do not seem to have that it's a walk in the park for them.
Let's hope next season is really exciting as i think most would agree this season has been a little dull. It's been a one man show in most cases. To be honest it does not matter how good Button is he won't push the Ferrari hard enough in his present set up.

IMHO this guy Ecclestone is going to be the ruin of the sport.
How he ever got ownership of things in the first place, I'll never know. He's making millions.
And then, he sells off to all sorts of investors but still retains control! More millions.
He's got a 17-race sched and he's basically happy to run races wherever the biggest money is to be found.
Hell, if he could run 17 races entirely in third-world countries, with no tobacco problems, he'd be thrilled. But he knows the biggest manufacturers/sponsors would never go for it.
All kinds of governments in 'developing nations' now want a race (they've seen what happened in China) and they're hot to trot.
It's whatever the market will bear...
Can't blame him, I s'pose, from a purely capitalistic point of view, but - he must be stopped!
Thank goodness for the strong tobacco laws around the world. We have had them in Canada already for ages, and Bernie tried to yank our race last year.
They paid him off $35 million, to forget about it.
A consortium of municipal/provincial/federal government and certain corporate entities footed the bill.
No race in U.K. is just a bluff - he wants more money.
It's going to screw everything up...
And then, there's the 2.4L motor thing; puh-leese :(
Look what they're doing to our favourite sport!
It's bad enough they've emasculated all the timeless, legendary racing circuits (including Silverstone).
Hell, I learned the REAL Silverstone when I started driving Geoff Crammond's World Circuit back in 1992 ;)
And the real Imola, and Hockenheim, etc...
No British GP is unthinkable, and will not happen.
I figure it would be a nice race for Jenson to win.
Had my rant,

Another season gets off to a smashing start :-)

yes i agree, the season is off to a great start. It should be an action packed year. i'm curious as to how well weber will do now that he is in a decent ride. I also wonder how the new tire rule will come into play when they reach the tracks known for chewing tires up. it should be a great season, i'm sure this thread will be well active as usual :)

God I'm stuck in Australian time now [out of sync by about 10 hrs] lol
Great beginning to what I'm sure will be a superb season.
Cant wait until Ferrari get their 2005 car up n' running , but got a feeling even if it's good ... they probably wont run away with the title this year.
I remember yesteryear when cars would sometimes run out of fuel a lap or two before the end & it really did add a sense of drama to proceedings :-)
So all in all I think (most) of the changes will/should be good , make the drivers drive a bit more eh...
Good to see my ol' muckers resurrect this thread

I have to say that renault and red bull team are looking fast this season and i think renault are serious contenders. DC did exceptionally well considering last season and i think alonso had a good race too.

I would love to go to the States to see F1. I do not fancy being humiliated by customs, and have to wait for hours to get in. A friend recently visited the states, he is a white Yorkshire man. Customs & immigration made him feel unwanted, humiliated & he has vowed never to return.
Us Brits have stuck with you guys through thick & thin, & your administration makes us out to be terrorists. I thought we had a "special" relationship with you? I went to the States in '90. I loved the place & the people.
Then again, our government treats all of us Brits as we were terrorists, planning to strip us of our civil liberties. Giving the police overwhelming powers.
Back to the topic. Good to see Ferrari getting their arses kicked. Nice that Renaults did well & Red Bull too.
Ecclestone can be a thorn in the side at times, some of the rules are daft. 1 engine, 2 races? Is this becoming endurance racing? Thank God the Engineers (most of the chiefs are Brits. Pat Symonds, Ross Braun (?), Patrick Head, Mike Gascoyne) are very good at their jobs. . The only thing german about the Mercedes engine is the badge. All the engines I believe are made by Judd (British) Would be nice to see a mixture of winners. Ferrari domination has, for me, spoiled the sport. Not their fault though!

Yes good point!
Apparently they can come in and change 1 tire at any time, no questions asked; strange eh?
@Pulsar, YES U.S. Customs is fooked up lately - it's a big shame but trust me, you don't wanna go there anyway if you can help it (no offense Darth).
They are too paranoid, and xrays & rectal inspections are bad for you ;-)
If Darth or anyone comes to Montreal in June, to our National Park in the middle of the mighty St. Lawrence River, you will see a spectacular show, and from close-at-hand too.
I went to the first USGP at Speedway Indiana in 2000, and never got closer than a furlong from the cars...
And the mighty sound that echoes through Isle Notre-Dame just kinda evaporates at Indy ;-(
In Montreal the cars pass 8 feet away, with a shock of air like a subway train.
Darth you & Herbs need to come up here!
Michael was lucky the Williams ran into him or he would've finished last, LoL :-)

They cant touch the tires at all throughout the race, apart from take readings like pressure and heat etc..
unless you mean if a tyre is damaged?
Im not 100% clear yet with this new rule.. What if it starts raining, can they change to wets? then what if it stops raining can they change again?
Should be good to see as the season unfolds..

wow, forgot all about this thread......and the season has started..................brummm brummm......
Greetings fellow F1 junkies............
Yep, schuey got a little taste of his own medicine....nice to see at long last (thats a good comment, considering I am a Ferrari fan...LOL).
But Rubens carried the flag for us....nice one RB.....
Have to agree with everyones views on the Renault and Red Bulls performances, truly outstanding.......
These new rules are really gonna split the fields up now, especially with the tyre situation.
I just REALLY hope there is not a bad accident as a result of it (still with all the monitoring that is done, hopefully will not happen)
I do reckon that the Renaults are gonna be up there throughout, as it seems they have always had the best car when it comes to tyre wear, and as we know the Renaults are lightining off the start, have good performance reliabilities and have a couple of 'fighting' spirited drivers aswell - a hunger level that I think far succeeds any other team at the moment.
I am going to be interested in Maclarens ability this season, as I think there will be some personal battles between KR an JPM which could spell bad news, but also provide us with some top quality racing....
