yes, your armax cd should work just fine as a boot cd instead of that demo disk
you load cdloader so you get the pretty space screen :P
hit eject so the tray opens and hit it again to close it(leaving your armax cd in)
you'll see "ps2cd" in the corner
then use your slide tool to open the tray and put your exploit cd in the tray
use your slide tool to close your tray
(i had to do this a few times to get my exploit to load)
thats it :)

Ok, it installed the files onto the memory card successfully.
But when I insert my ps1 disc (Tekken 3) no menus appears displaying cogswaploader, it just sits on the ps2 browser screen with the memory card and the black disc.

this may sound silly but you are using a "chubby" ps2 and not a new slim right?
and have you clicked on the black disk in the brouser?
you should see a blue screen with launcher in the corner

Yeah I'm using a fat ps2.
The guide says that the elf selection screen is meant to load after a few seconds, instead nothing happens and if I press X on the black disc it just loads Tekken 3 as normal.

try and reinstall the expolit maybe it just didn't install right..
if that dosen't work try to rebuild your exploit disk
http://www.sksapps.com/index.php?page=mis.html
this is where i got my Independence Compiler 3.0
(its at the bottom of the list)
i can tell you the english version works as its the one i used
and make sure you configure your compiler right
follow the directions here EXACTLY as they say
its sounds as if you might of not gotten the slus of tekken and added it
(clicked get at the first step then clicked add)
STEP 1: Put your chosen PS1 trigger disc in your cd drive and click "Get", making sure it's looking in the right drive or it'll not find the disc! Once it displays the SLES (or SLUS) code, click "Add" and the code will appear in the box at the right.

Hi everyone, I have already blocked my sensors and have my slim ps2 spinning disks with the lid open, now I am going to buy Action Replay Max Tomorrow and I was going to get my disks ready to go tonight but some of the links in the tutorial arent working for me.
Neither of these links are working for me, is there anyone that knows where else I could get them at or where they have been moved too?
i. download the "Independence Compiler Program 3.0" from the link here (you need to click the small floppy disc icon to download): http://www.console.iscentral.net/download.php?view.1
That?s all you need, if you read the following carefully you?ll have your backups playing in no time. To start off, the PS2 ?program? you?re going to use to load your backups is called cogswaploader. It?s a 57KB elf file you can download from here: http://www.exploitstation.com/index.php?page=elfs
Thank you

I got all files I needed, and am using sonic record now. When i go to make the cogswaploader cd do I go to burn data disk? and do Include both the bin and cue or only cue?
Also when i load armax in my ps2 the home screen has "Expert mode" "Max memory manager" and "DVD Region X"
I dont see anywhere to select "Media Player" for the steps below and i cant get it to say cdloader.elf anywhere anyway i try it...
i.) Load ARMAX, select "Media Player"
ii.) Put in your cdloader.elf disc and it should say cdloader.elf on the screen - press Play to load.
iii.) The cdloader screen should display and if you press O on the controller, it'll show in English text!
iv.) Press the eject tray and put in an official PS2 cd (ARMAX cd will do!)
v.) Now swap the disc for your cogswaploader boot disc (without the ps2 knowing, so no pressing eject!) - use a flip top or slide tool (recommended - see here if you're unsure how: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/288331)
vi.) Press X on the controller and cogswaploader will load!!!!
Anyone know what to do?

well as far as burning a cue use DVD Decrypter not recordnow
dvd decrypter is free and all ps2 isos will be in that form (or Alcohol 120%)
start up DVD Decrypter, just click burn, and brouse to your cue file and click it
(no "data disk")
as far as your armax goes you got a version that dosen't include max media player.
your gonna need to buy a new armax, and make SURE it says "includes max media player, play homebrews and cd-r's with no mod chip required"

im not exactly sure what you are saying but the backup is what you intend to load at the end, you use an offical disc to load your backup

as you may have read, there are 2 different bootloaders.
cdloader and cogswaploader
cdloader is used to boot ps2cd backups
cogswaploader is used to boot ps2dvd backups

no, you would still need to use an exploit to get cdloader/cpgswap onto the mem card

Anyone know Datel's stand on this?
I bought one from argos today - the picture in the catalogue has the 'includes media player' the one you get doesn't. I assume the latest version from Datel presumably doesn't include it any more? (v3.60 according to the back of the disk)

Im not sure thats interesting. On there website they still offer support for the program that comes with the max media player.(max media creator)
I bought mine at a local retailer (Best Buy) so I could make SURE I was getting what I wanted.

Just got this reply from codejunkies...
"The new version of Action Replay MAX no longer contains the Media Player or Media Creator. Sorry."
So BEWARE - if you're buying a new one MAKE SURE it has the media player included. For example ARGOS advertises the picture with the media player - except the 1 you get doesn't include it.
If you've got one just with the region X dvd player and you can't see the media player - it probably isn't there.
