Hey all,
Great to see you guys got the cheats to load with your backups! I had trouble with ARMAX Media Player staying on a black screen too. Found out later that it was because the CDLoader.elf file I used wasn't compatible and so it didn't load...
Now, where can I find this Max Code Manager program? On Google?

well, that guide practically takes you through the exact same steps as this one,
except for the fact that not everyone has a slim ps2 and the exploit is much easier to do on a fat ps2 it is a good tutorial and probably more up2 date, i followed the method from this page and had no problems other than some which where my fault for not reading properly.
i dont see why people waste discs by burning cdloader.elf when it can just be.
and just a quick question, ace's guide tells you to use ps2 save builder to create a gamesave with cogswap and uncrush it to the ps2 mem card, why is this,
when you are creating the exploit disc with the independant exploit installer just select installer on the file output section then when you do the cdloader to install the exploit
it does it all for you rather than all the messing around.
if i were you i would just use this method to install the exploit as it deffinately works and can be done in no time at all.

@ bagofcrap: this method works for fat PS2s I guess, but it does not work for slims. The indipendence exploit is patched for slim ps2s, so you must use ace's guide for slims.

yes slims have to use a usb drive with cogswap.elf on it,loaded from armax media player every time.
chubby ps2 can use the memory card exploit to load cogswap.elf, bypassing the need for armax(armax is still needed ONCE to install the memory card exploit to the memory card)

sorry this is a late reply,
i have a fat ps2 and the armax disc i have has no mediaplayer, tho it came with a media player disc, and if you have an old kingston style usb pen drive the armax will recognise it and make it usable in the ps2, at least it did for mine. the galaxy screen is occurs when the disc usually the armax disc is loading and due to a read issue the ps2 times-out and freezes the load, the dead give away is the repeating loop of music about 4 seconds long.
for those read errors, properly adjusting of laser is the fix

jjax and Purity: the better ToC disc in my opinion is GTA: Vice City. I was having problems loading Valkyrie Profile2: Silmeria with SA, so i tried VC and it worked fine.
VP2:S is around 4.33 gigs if i remember correctly.

you know theres a list on this site somewhere that has a list of all ps2 dvd games and their toc size...
I use devil may cry myself, the second highest rated toc DVD5 game for ps2.
the only DVD5 game with a higher toc than devil may cry is one of the fifa games and i cant stand soccer.

Really? I'll have to find that. What I meant was that VC has a higher ToC than SA on Layer 1 because there is no second layer on VC. I haven't seen the list but that's probably the highest ToC game I have right now.

You need to block 3 sensors so that the system doesn't know if the lid is closed or not. Search around for the "tape and tissue" method if you want to save money. Otherwise, buy the Swap Magic Discs and use the Tools that come with it.
