if i remember correctly the exploit compiler is from exploitstation. if this is the case then it is unavailable because the site is currently going through a redesign. im not sure wen it will be back up.

I am the creator of exploit compiler. It no longer has HDLoader in it. It is no longer made under the name "ExploitStation".
I used to co-own exploitstation but had a falling out with the other co-owner, which basically left me with nothing. All further development of my programs (Exploit Sender, Independence Compiler) can be found at http://Exploits.Ps2Hd.Com

Has anyone tried using an ipod for transfering gamesaves? If so how did you get your ps2 to recognize it?

I heard that you CAN transfer from the ipod but you need action replay max evo so that it will reckognize it as a pendrive.

when you get access to ps2 via execftp through your pc can you copy the exploit to the memory card, or do you have run it via cd and install it. If you can manually install it what files go where on the memory card. I have all the files just don't know where they would go?

If i want to update any ELF file, can i just
replace the file needed to be updated and reburn
the image? (to rebuild if necessary)
since a new version of HDA just came out

You would have to go into the memory card manager and delete your system file. Then rebuild your memcard exploit and burn then install again. It is alot easier to upgrade with a pen drive or something like that, makes it easier each time upgrading the elf files instead of using disc after disc.

You have to have some way of booting the exploit to install first. It has to either come from swap magic, modchip,Action Replay Max etc...A boot method is required in getting the exploit to install to the memcard. After you accomplish your install of the exploit. Then you can keep upgrading, but a boot method is definately required for everyone trying to install their own compilation.Once you have the exploit installed, and it gets outdated. You can go into your PS2 main browser select your memcard manager and delete the systemfile inside there. After that is done, reconstruct your memcard exploit build with the updated .elf files and install the same way you did it the first time.I really do recommend getting something like a pen drive or something that which can be used over and over again instead of cd discs. It will save you alot of money in the long run on upgrading, only if you plan on upgrading alot.If not then don't worry about it,and just use the cd method.

Nah it isn't a direct boot method, you will still need some kind of boot method for the memcard exploit to install, sorry man.It is really just to organize your PS2 programs you use, such as HDLoader, and CDLoader,PS2 Player that would normally be on disc. The memcard exploit will let you put all your PS2 programs on the memcard saving you the hassle of popping in numerous discs to access what app you want to use.It is a memcard manager for ps2 apps, pretty much the easiest way I can explain it.I can't help you obtain .elf files, but search for them alright. They should be pretty popular still,or you could get a already compiled memcard exploit like the keylauncher memcard exploit. You need to find a way to either store the systemfile on your memcard or either a boot method SMDiscs,Modchip,GamesharkV2,Action Replay Max with a pen drive etc...It keeps going though for the longest time, search for a way to boot ps2 cd-r backups and you should be able to test it out and see what you think.

Not sure,I have only tested it out a V7 PS2.You are probably better off testing out a already compiled exploit, before even making your own alright. If a already compiled exploit doesn't work, then probably not.

OK....I have a whole bunch of stuff.
PS2, got the titleman file pack to compile the title.db,
network adaptor, hardrive, PC, but the one thing I don't have is any kind of swap magic or gameshark, etc...
I am also looking into networking my PS2 to my pc to do a link load. But I can't find any info on this. My question: Do I have to have swap magic (Or related) and does it have to be swap v2.0. And do you have any info on the networking thing. I just don't know where to start with that one.
Thankx

I could really be bothered to attempt the network thing, far to daunting. You should purchase Action Replay Max Evo. You can also use your own (larger) USB pen drive as they are compatible.
You make your exploit save then use this to transfer it to your memory card (via USB).
Try www.exploitstation.com for more guides/tutorials, downloads and a good forum. I had a lot of help here.

Just a quick question. I've been into xbox modding for a while now. New to PS2 side of things. But once the exploit is installed do you still need the slide card to release the tray to run backup games? Or once the exploit loads can you just hit eject and instert the backup game and load it from a menue similiar to an xbox exploit?

as far as I know you always have to use a swap if you are putting any kind of burnt disc in the ps2. As far as the rest, I'll let you know when I recieve my swap magic discs in the mail.

So if all I want to do is backup my games and run them, and not use any homebrew apps. I mine as well stick with the swapmagic disks and slide card or get it chipped correct?
I was under the assumption that the independence exploit once installed would work similiar to a softmodded xbox. Guess not.

I might be wrong about that, cuz i noticed one of the apps is to play SNES games. I said as far as I know, and I would let you know when I got my discs in the mail.

Once you get the exploit installed you just eject the tray and pop the PS1 disc and it should load to a menu where you can select what apps you would like to use.The only thing is that you have to get it installed on your memory card by either pen drive or boot it from a burnt disc another option is the GameShark transfer cable that can be used also I bet.I hope this clears things up a little bit,the only thing that gets people is getting the exploit installed on the memory card.So your main goal is to figure out a way to install the exploit to your mem card, then the rest should be pretty easy from then on.
