You need a patched HDLoader for hard drives over larger hard drives, its been that long since I read it, I can't remember whether it's drives over 80GB or 120GB.

There should be a diagram on your hard drive showing you hpw to set the jumper. The double plastic clip comes out and is set in the position of the diagram.

From what I understand, so far you can only patch up to a 120GB. But I am known to be wrong on occasion.

And I also found out according to my prior post, I didn't have to format the HD at all. I just switched to the keylauncher.elf. For some reason, PS2Menu(I think, is the blocky lookin grey CMOS type GUI)and now my hdloader works fine. Hasn't froze since.

There is a patched 48bit Hdloader with "toxic os" core (more compatibilty or something) at exploitstation.com click on ELFs

(I dont host it on my site because it is illegal to host that file).

Independence compiler 3.0 is out at www.ausdigital.net - It now outputs ISO files and XPS files making the process VERY simple!

Bin is the actual image and cue has all the information on how the file is to be burned. Start up the software you use to burn, ie. Nero, then select the cue file.

When Nero has opened this file it will display the details of the bin, ready to burn.

Hi,

I'm not sure what's wrong with this. I tried to create the exploit CD and I only can get to the screen where it seems like it about to load the CD (Playstation screen with SCEA about the bottom of the screen).

I'm using PS2 v4
Magic 3.1+ mod chip

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

You burn the cue file not the bin, try different burning software.

I couldn't be bothered with the cd method. I use Max Evo-brilliant.

I think its pretty much the same process.

Have you made sure you created the title.db correctly?

I've tried the exploit with Madden 2001 and Crypt Killers!
2 very old psx games
so far none of them worked for me?
the codes for above are:
Madden 2001--SLUS_012.41
Crypt Killer--SLUS_003.35

Does anyone know if twisted metal 2 will work for sure??
SCUS_942.49?
HELLPPP!

What does adding AUTO 10 to KL.DAT do? I haven't heard any reference to editing it like that. I think when I did edit it, it didn't have an AUTO=10. But it still works just fine.

Hey Im a newbie looking for some help...
ran into problems using the memory card exploit and a psx trigger disc. Got to one of the last steps, had the info I needed on a memory card, put in the psx trigger disc, but then the psx game just starts running like normal. Maybe I used a non working psx trigger game? I used "twisted metal 2" is there a list of working psx trigger discs somewhere, I found a link but it's dead.

Also do I need to format the harddrive in windows first, or will the "free" version of HDloader have that option? Cause I just took the drive (maxtor 200 gig) straight from the retail box (switched to master) and stuck it in the ps2.

Am so close to getting this working w/ a 200 gig! Need Help ASAP!
THANKS

BTW great deal at staples on the drive I got 200 gig 80$ after rebates
one instant one 30$ by mail (easy to do online). Deal may only be local though worth checking out though

Well I know for a fact that the hdloader will format it for you. I liked that little option. I have heard that there is a fully patched hdloader but I am still not sure how big a HD it will support. Usually when I had a prob. with the exploit not working, I either had 2 config files on my MC, (whenever I had to reinstall the exploit, I would manually go into the browser and erase either the config or the keylauncher, depending on if I was using a swap disc to install, or codebreaker with USB jump drive support.) or I used the titleman frontend for the titleDB and Independance Compiler for the rest of the exploit and just forgot to copy my title.db to the ausdigital dir. Hope this helps, and as far as I know, as long as the trigger disc mathches one of the slus codes in the title.db, it should work.

I have the new patched Loader. I has a few new options like diasble hard drive after boot. Makes no difference to the games I required it for. May be handy in the future, if someone lists which options for what games.

It is compatible with larger hard drives, although I'm not sure if there is a vrsion which isn't.

Get it at Exploitstation

Ok an upate on my situation. I have got a version of free HD loader running using the swap magic 3.6 method, and a free hd loader I found on the newsgroups, except it only sees 127 of the 200 gigs. I also found another version of HD loader (3.3 I think)that sees all 200, and has a few new features but the damn things in french, so I have been using the older version for now.

Now when I run the newer version it still lists all my games (installed on the older verison) and they run fine. Will I run into problems if I switch to a memory card exploit? EG Will I have to reformat and reinstall all games? I heard this only become an issue if you install more games than the 127 limit. I am not close to that at this point but I dont want to keep building a collection only to have to restart to get full capacity of the drive.

Also is there anyway to clone a ps2 drive to a second drive (they are the same exact model drive) This would probaly be easiest done by outting both drives in the pc right? Can I use a usb external in this situation?

One final question. I got magic swap 3.6 it says it has feature to load info of usb device. I have a usb flash drive & external hard drive, can any of these be of use in my situation. The memory card exploit is not workign well for me, If I could put files on the usb, and somehow make a mem card work it would be a lot easier.

Any links or info offered would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

You can download the latest patch at exploitstation, you may have to register in order to do so.

You can transfer this expoit to your memory card using action replay max evo. Alternatively you can create an exploit disc, however you will require a method for booting backups, ie. swap magic, chip, etc.

Any games installed using the original/exploit loader, will still boot up and be be compatible with the memory card exploit.

Great thread Burna!

I have a similar question as above:

I have original HD Advance, and am considering using the exploit to load HD Loader on a memory card.

Will Loader recognize my Advance formatted HD and games?

Since they both use basically the same code (I believe the only real difference is the GUI), would I benefit by using Loader on my MC exploit? I heard there are patched, newer versions of Loader that can backup "flattened" games that Advance cannot handle (ex. - God of War.)

Anyone know the answer for sure?

Prikster. yes that is correct. the toxic48p.elf file is patched and that particular file will handle the flatened GOW. i have a retail HDA and got a friend to put GOW on my hdd. everything worked like a charm. i know there is another version of the HDL called 'fully patched', but i have not used it. so i cannot say. i'm happy with the toxic patch. oh and if anyone knows where i can get an image of codebreaker 7, PM me.

I have Max Evo but have to keep swapping discs, if I use code breaker can I cheat games on my hard drive, or will I have to keep swapping discs?

eiamhere, yes you will. if you load up with codebreaker, select cheats, you have to swap to your hdloader/hdadvance cd to make it work. i put my codebreaker 4 on memcard, but i still needed my retail HDA cd to load the games from hdd. i dont know of any way that you can avoid swapping discs.

OK, I've been running my PS2 with HDA 1.0 from the MC for a few months and evertythings been fine. But I thought I'd install a patched HDL with large drive support and Soul Calibur compatability instead and then I've run into a problem.
The HDA I run came with a small boot.elf (27kb) and when triggered by my PSX game HDA starts directly without Keyloader or some other menu.

This is what I'd like for the patched HDLoader as well. Can I make my own boot.elf or is there a generic boot.elf around?

I did try the obvious, to rename my hdl.elf to hda.elf and use the same boot.elf but no dice.
