It's also possible that the gap has been entirely eliminated, seeing how the metal bar was put there to foil a prior version of the tool that slid into a gap that used to be there when the bar was not in place. I imagine that it wouldn't be too tough to make the bar slightly larger so there is no way to place the tool. I have a hard time believing you can't see the hole, especially if you're using a flashlight or are in good lighting, it's just not that difficult to find. Granted, it IS small, and the tool is difficult to insert, but if you watch the video on the link I provided, I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out, assuming the hole is still there on your model.

I'm not trying to sound liek a jerk, but that video pretty much shows me nothing. It is way to blurry and done so fast that it doesn't really help.
I have a black, slim ps2. Is this definitely one of v12 through v14? I really don't know what "hole" this is everyone is talking about. I've tried to fit it in a number of different ways and it just doesn't seem to be getting anywhere.
I'm really starting to think that is impossible on my ps2 and modchip.com hasn't responded to my e-mail yet, which is very annoying.

No, I understand what you're saying. It's difficult to see the hole, even knowing approximately where it is. I believe, though, with the various links provided, you should have a general idea of where it SHOULD be, and then using a flashlight or a well-lit room, you should be able to go from there. It IS an awkward fit, even after you find the hole, but the tool will go in if you are patient and angle it properly, assuming they haven't eliminated the hole entirely. Someone else with a more recent model might be able to let you know if that's the case.
Sorry, I wish there was more I could tell you, but that's about as much as I know about the keys, and in the end, I ended up taping down the switch anyway...

Does anyone have a personal video they could take of them inserting the tool? The vids I have been sent aren't very good and the descriptions people are offering are vague and inconsistent.
Isn't there a manual on the internet or something? This is rediculous.

I think thats a usa version 12 i dont think that model had a metal plate unless it was the silver or ivory model in that case you will have a bigger gap between console base and hinge so you wont find any hole the tools you need are either magic actuator, magic switch pro or the early magic keys.

So is this thread still open? because I just got a PS2 slim in the beginning of July and was wondering if this is even worth getting? The one I am talking about is this
http://www.modchipstore.com/PS2-Playstation-2-Two-Slim-Line-Flip-...
which of course different model then what you are talking about. But why not go with with the flip cover than inserting all these pieces?
Thanks and God Bless

@Angelwing
Some people want to keep their warranty seals intact and the magic keys allow this ability

If your interested in keeping your warranty then the keys are the better way but with these keys it pretty much makes the pstwo into a fliptop.

They both accomplish the same task except the keys don't void the warranty.

Yeah because you don't have to deal with trying to fit the keys into place, I believe it's just like a pop in and go sort of thing.

Alright, I haven't tried messing around with my Magic Keys in a while. I found out that my ps2 is a version 12. Will Magic Keys II definitely work with my version?

me again, ive spent 4+hours fiddling with this crap and im pissed i was lead to beleive that installation was easy and the parts were made to fit easily into the pstwo w/out need for fiddling or magyvering it and now as im looking to see about the lid cover option whats the point, my ps2 doesnt spin discs anymore! w/ all the pieces removed and w/ normal games it just wont spin. what the hell! any idea on how to fix this or what i couldve done wrong, also with the last part it seemed like there was no way to close the lid without it rotating or just ending up completely weird inside the thing stuck between the hinge and hard to take out.
