Well don't give up everyone....I just recieved my magic keys today and installed on my V14.
I came here first and did lots of reading first and saw how much trouble everyone was having.
So my first attempt earlier this evening didnt go well. I started with piece #3 first as I figured if I couldnt get it then why bother with the rest.
So leaving the sticky intact I did as someone said earlier grabbed the bigger part of piece#3 with tweezers had a good flashlight on the little hole and proceeded to get the end in. I started with it sideways first just to get in the hole. Once in the hole I turned it to the right to get into place and wiggled enough for it to fall in. It did within a couple minutes. I then took off sticky and placed it firmly. The lid closed just fine. I then proceeded to put in the other 2 pieces which are really easy.
Plugged it all in and used my Swap magic coder 3.8 disk and it came up fine, then ejected and put in a game, closed lid and pressed X and game came up fine.
So just don't give up but be gentle and careful putting in #3. It does work.

Was the disk working before you put part#3 in? If part#3 goes in correctly the disk should spin with the lid open.

any disk wont spin w/ lid open or closed, my ps2 is broke now , when you turn it on i hear the cpu working but no spinnning, in the pics where part 3 should go i see a little metal bar next to the hinge, i dont have that, could that be the reason i cant get it to work, and can someone explain the purposes of the other 2 pieces? are you saying that the whole time your using this the lid sposed to be open? anyways since my ps2 is fragged now im just gonna wait till i get the dough for a premodded system.

I don't know which Version PS2 you have but I imagine it is a slim version.
I have some guides posted on my blog - http://myblog.pitstopwonders.com/myblog.html you can check out if you like.
There are many reasons the disk won't spin and if you go to the search button and type in disk won't spin on this forum, you may find many helpful topics.
Its with this forum that I have learned so much on the PS2.

I just got the Swap Magic II set and I agree, it's nigh impossible. Tool A and B fit in very easily, but for C I think that it came bent when I got it in the mail or something. It in didn't fit in until I bent it to look like more like the pictures from the Mod-Chip manual, and even then when I got it in closing my lid ended up pushing it out of place.
I'm thinking of opening it up and just taping down the 3 switches to make it work. Anyone have any advice for when I open it, or if there's something else I can do instead? It's really getting on my nerves, especially now that the sticky glue on the back has all but worn off from my fiddling.

I know what you mean it is very tricky to get part#3 in especially on the V14 with the metal plate in the way. Like I said I did mine sideways. I first got it in the hole then moved the bigger part of the plate to the left and it went in further. I then wiggled it to get the bigger plate over to the right and it fell in place.
But I had to sit out at the kitchen table with lots of light, flashlight also on it, and lots of patience before I proceeded. The first time I tried it when I got it I was playing around for 10-20 minutes til I finally put it away.
I dont know what to tell you, send it back for another, tell them it wasnt bent the same as in pictures or something or try doing the tape method.
Or if you do get it in place just use double sided tape to secure it down.

I have seen your question lots? Obviously no one reading this thread has purchased the flip cover method.
It works fine, the basic idea of magic keys II was not to void the warranty.
Hit the search button at top and input flip top cover and you will see what peeps have to say about it. Many threads on it.
You should always research everything out first before buying.

I am not sure how the disc would not spin just from putting in the magic keys. Have you removed the parts and tried it again.
I know there are many reasons as to why the disc wont spin. I have read in different posts on this forum as to why.
YOu may need to start a new thread as to your issue.

I can certainly confirm that the Magic Key II set is quite a pain in the ass to install. In the end, I was forced to open the PS2 and tape down the switch which Sony so well hid from prying eyes.
One question, though: Does anyone have any experience with so-called "ghost cases"? They supposedly integrate the ghost switches for the front and rear switches that need to be held down? For example:
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Clear-Blue-PS2-S...oQQcmdZViewItem
For now, the ghetto rigged setup works perfectly with SM 3.6. If those cases are a good buy, I'll be purchasing one soon.

i might buy one of those now that i have nothing to lose except 20 bucks, maybe when i open it up to transfer to the clear case i can see and figure out whats wrong and fix it, also please explain more about this ghost clip deal. i think trying to reach the switch w/ part #3 i hit something i shouldnt or removed it or did something along those lines.

The ghost clip itself seems alright, although it voids the warranty and seems to take a bit more work than the Magic Kit II/Slim Kit Pro (which don't take much anyways). I've no idea how the ghost case handles that back switch that's on the motherboard. A seller I plan on getting one from on eBay has perfect ratings ('bout 600 or so) so apparently the thing works.

Hi guys,
Tis my first post so go easy on me! lol
How about if i start a thread for people who have tried successfuly and unsuccessfully to install magic keys II in there v12-V14c? maybe there will be a pattern as to what versions can actually use the Magic Keys II.
There are 3 V14 consoles and lots of country specific models.
Magik keys "claims" that magic keys 2 can be used on all V12-V14 PS2 maybe they are wrong but dont want to admit it??
Anyhoo i'll start a thread and we'll se what happens ;-)

Hey I was just wondering if the manual for Magic Switch V3 would help people with magic Keys II installation.
I just uploaded a link to it for a person wanting to install it. And when it shows them putting in Part E which is same as part 3 of Magic Keys II.
Anyway check it out see if it helps or not.

I just *suceeded*. Since the beggiing, it was *working* (i needed to push the tool with my finger all the time) I push for a so long time that now IT STICK. lol. I have FREAKING BIG fear of trying to close the lid/moving my ps2 (it's right in from the comp with my TV captur now =/).
Now it doesn't work... Has anyone got the way of making it work?

Have you tried to pull it out part way and wiggle it around til it falls in again. I guess thats all you can do is try to get it back in place...

Do you still have warranty on your PS2..if not you could try doing the tape method as some have stated up in this thread or in other threads in the forum. Just do a search I guess on that topic.
Maybe part#3 is bent a bit... so its not always hitting on it, like you say from pushing down on it all the time to get it to work must have fell in place but came out again.
