Oh thats great Farman56.....I was wondering how you have made out.
Leaves one to think that some of the Magic Keys parts maybe arent all the exact same then. Could very well be that some parts are just off a bit as they must make thousands of them.
Well glad it went well this time.
Mine is still working fine also. I sometimes lately have to press #2 tool in a bit as it keeps detecting that I removed the disc once in awhile.

I have a weird situation.
My 3rd tool is held off the base, and when I press it down, it starts working, but it lifts itself back up. If I push it to far, to the bottom it snaps past the switch and doesn't work.
So I have it taped down, but its still allitle off the base =P
Its been working for a long time now, and Ive moved it around alot.
It took many attempts but Im sticking with what works.

I just received my Magic Key II set today and I have to say the installation was NOT as difficult as some people are making it out to be. The third piece took me less than five minutes to install properly.
Don't give up! It's not impossible.

Im not sure if it has been said yet, but, I use a straw for the third piece on my v14 PStwo and it works good. All you do is cut a straw lengh-wise(end to end) then cut a piece about an inch or two off of one end of that then push it down between the metal piece and hinge until the disk starts spinning. Run a search for it to get better instructions.
Doesnt expecting the unexpected make the unexpected expected and therefore mean youre expecting the expected which was the unexpected until you expected it?

Ok, so I have a PS2 slim V12. I also have a set of Magic Keys II. I have the 1st and 2nd tools installed, but the 3rd tool, as just about everyone else has seen, is being a pain. I have it in the slot, but it seemed to fit a little too well.
It just slide right in, so I kind of figured it wasn't over the spot it needed to be. Well, with the CD top open, I can get the disc to spin whenever I push the 3rd tool a certain way and when it starts to spin the PS2 makes some weird noises and then the disc stops spinning and then starts again.
Could anyone provide some help? :(
What's causing it to start and stop like that? I'm sure it's the 3rd tool.
I also keep getting an error on the PS2 that "the disc could not be read."

For about two hours, I was convinced that the third MagicKey would NEVER fit into my V14 PS2 -- the hole near the left hinge is SOOOO tiny.
But I did get it in. To do it, you have to get the tip in the hole, perhaps by bending the key a VERY tiny bit with some pliers and work the piece back and forth then inch it a little bit at a time through the hole. It's really tight. Damn near impossible.
Once I got the key in the hole, it was a bit of a trick to get it to press the required switch. I guess that if I hadn't had to bend the key at all, it might have been able to hit the switch exactly right the first time. For my slightly bent key, I had to lift up the near end of the rectangular steel pad before rotating it counterclockwise to press the switch.
I swear, getting this key in took lots and lots of patience, lots of light, some skillful pushing and inching, and being well fed so that my hands wouldn't shake and my mouth wouldn't cuss. It's simply not a task for those who are not mechanically inclined and who don't enjoy very tiny puzzles.
Get a surgeon friend to help -- preferably one who likes to fix car engines for fun.
The key is: you have to work it in. It' ain't gonna just slide in, no how, no way.

i had some trouble installing Magic Keys II as well. I think the best advice i could offer for tool 3 is to insert the thin end through the hole in between the two metal plates. then, tilt the tool according to the shape and insert it in. try to keep the entire piece as much to the right as possible. once the entire tool has been inserted and the flat part is resting on the ps2, gently push it towards the left until your disc starts to spin (you should be able to feel it click onto the switch.)
I got it to work but i can't close my lid with it installed. when i attempted it made a cracking noise and it moved my tool 3 out of place. i read through this forum and discovered that i'm not the only one with this problem.
screw magic keys and their "quick and easy installation" claim.

No its not as easy as they claim especially part #3. It does take time and patience to install.
But were you able to close the lid with parts 1 & 2 installed. As sometimes its these that could be the problem. If not you may have to readjust your Part#3 and just use double sided tape to hold it down.
As I stated earlier for someone else about disc could not be read, was my part #2 not quite in place.

Yeah i could close the lid with parts 1 and 2 just fine. I didn't have to use any tape for tool 3, after i found the spot where it contacted the sensor, i removed the white paper on the back of the tool and just stuck it on. then i tried to close my lid and halfway through i heard a cracking sound (confirming it is due to tool 3) and when i opened it again my 3rd tool was out of place. ever since then i just put my tool 3 back and left my lid open. other than that everything works fine...
just curious how many people successfully installed their magic keys II and is able to close the lid?

Ok then it must not have been in exact place for the lid not to close. As it will close just fine once its in exact place. I guess I wouldnt stick it down until lid closes fine is all I can suggest.

I am able to close the lid, just. But i do have to close it quite gently or else it cracks the strip next to the lid(i unfortuently found that out the hard way :( )
As for putting it in, you need to put it in carefully and dont just ram it in, as someone else said get a small torch and put it in your mouth and aim it at the hole and then first put the bent bit in and turn it up and then push the rest down and wiggle it about untill it spins the disk.

i give up... just gonna play with the top open...
maybe ill try that tape method once my warranty expires.

No way will my top close with key 3 in place. I'm not even trying. I find, though, that each time I remove and re-insert key 3, it gets easier because the hole gets a little bigger (or the key gets thinner!).

Just wanted to add my 2 cents... I recently bought a new ps2 (slim) and got the magic key 2 disc and 3 pieces. I had a great deal of trouble with the 3rd piece. After 45 minutes of trying, I search the internet for about 30 minutes or so, and not much help. Pics and such, but not truly helpful. Not to be beaten by this 3 piece, and grabbed a steak knife and slid it between the strip with the whole and console hinge... I simply bent slightly the metal strip (w/hole) up. After the 2nd try, I was able to get the 3 piece to slide in easily... I can't believe this works perfectly. I have been testing for a couple of hours now, and its fine. Hope this helps....

It really is simple, just use tweezer for putting 3rd key into hole and then by hand just play and try to find out the correct position. It works, it took me 5 minutes to install magickeys2 (first time I've installed it ever)

Yes it will work on a PS2 slim v12. The 3rd tool should actually fit a lot easier on your version than on the later versions.
The one I used was pictured on the left shown here

I had no problem putting these in mine but then again I typed swap magic in youtube and watched a great video on how to do it. They even have videos that companies use to train their employees on how to fix the laser, fan, and proper dis/assembly of the slim. It's kinda like a woman if you try to stuff it in any which way it might break some times you need to turn on the lights and get realigned. Just some comedic relief for my stressed out swapping brothers.

I got Magic Keys II and Swap Disc 3.8 Plus. My 3rd piece was mess up when deliver. It was bended more than it suppose were. I tried so many times and it barely works(1 out of 13 times if lucky - w/o closing the lid). I sent email to that place I got it from to get replacement of that piece. Does anyone know if I can use any other materials as for the 3rd piece?? I mean is there a homemade ver. of the 3rd piece? I really wanna play my backup games.
Thanks.

Welp. All I really have to say is never order these from gameasylum.us. They're pretty fast with their shipping, but they sent the set in a regular envelope and too 3 was completely flattened. Idiots.
I think I'm just going tape the switch down since I've decided that a year long warranty probably isn't good for very much anyway.

Becarefull when tape modding it cause just one wire ripped can ruin your whole PS2.

Yes that sucks.... mine came in bubble wrap also. But they are very good with returns where I bought mine.
Would they not exchange that part#3 for you?
