There are three pieces to the Magic Keys II set, not including the CDs that come with it. The biggest piece in the set is impossible to install. It requires the user to stick it in a tiny hole and when i say tiny, i mean 1mm tiny. It's been really annoying trying to install it, can anybody (who has used the Magic Keys II set) suggest a trick or a tool to make this installation easier?
This is a link to the directions on Modchip.com. the directions claim that the installation is quite easy, and perhaps im just not handy with small objects, but it's been an annoying experience.

Thanks for the help.

Hey, I just got my Magic Key 2 set today and while I understand how you might find that last piece difficult, it is far from impossible. I suggest getting a small flashlight that you can hold in your mouth and point it at the spot you need to install (or be in a room with VERY good lighting). If you are careful and finesse it in past the bend, after that, it goes in quite easily and actually stays pretty much where it needs to go if you work it around a bit. I will say that you shouldn't expect the lid to close very well with this final piece in, as mine doesn't. It will close if I force it, but I'm afraid it might be kind of hard on the PS2, so I'm not going to worry about it. Is anyone else able to close the lid easily with all three pieces in?

I'm able to close the lid with all three pieces in without forcing it. I removed the sticky pads underneath all the tools and replaced it with double-sided tape (which is much thinner).

Yes, it's not really the thickness of the tabs that is the issue, though, but rather there is a part of the PSTwo that is colliding with the switch depresser of Part 3 (the one that goes down inside the PSTwo). I'm sure there are variations on design for that last piece, so perhaps mine sticks out a bit farther than yours, but when I shut the lid, it often forces that part out of position, but it easily goes back into position because it only moves it a fraction of an inch. Now that it's been in there awhile, it seems to have become a bit easier to close the lid, but I'm still wondering just what effect those two pieces rubbing on each other might have... I'm considering a flip top lid replacement now... :P

I got the magic keys 2 set this week and couldn't get component 3 in either. I went to my dad's office (he is a dentist) and used tons of different tools and there was no chance it was going in. On version 14 ps2 consoles there is an added clip there to prevent you from putting that in. Just open your ps2 and put tape over the switch. It is much easier than it sounds and it worked for me like a charm.

@korsoecw: Well, I knew about opening the case to depress the switch. In fact, you can jury rig many different things on your own to depress all three switches, but the point of buying the keys is so you don't have to open your case and void the warranty. I suppose once my warranty expires, I might go ahead and do something like that, but until then, I want to ensure that if something goes wrong, I can take advantage of the warranty.

I might consider one of those. I don't like keeping the lid open, but it doesn't seem to be hurting anything, either...

@slide1: We're talking about Magic Key 2's here, which are specifically designed for the 75xxx model PSTwo. The pics you're showing us are for older model 70xxx PSTwo's that don't have a metal block in the place that Tool C goes. Anything wider than a toothpick is not going to fit into a 75xxx model PSTwo.

Look again there are six pieces there is a tool e that is very slim and fits between metal plate and hinge and beleive me it fits 75xxx models a treat its actually 0.5mm in thickness and yes there is also a tool c for 7xxx models a choice of tools for disc brake a tool and a d tool they are on ebay.

Ahh, sorry, I apologize, it didn't seem to me like Tool E would fit in that gap and actually work. I may end up going that route if it works, since the tool I have now works, but unfortunately prevents the lid from closing without then displacing the tool. It's a shame I had to drop $12 on something that really doesn't work, or if it does, I can not seem to seat properly...

I can not for the life of me get this third piece in right. I'm starting to wonder if I have the other two pieces in right and also if I ordered the right product for my ps2 model. I have a slim, but I don't know which version. How do I tell? I ordered Magic Keys II with SwapMagic 3.8.
I'm really starting to get frustrated. I paid for this product and it isn't nearly as easy to install as they claim.

I assume by the "third piece" you mean the one that depresses the switch inside the machine (in the upper left corner of the tray). Unfortunately, this is a very tricky switch to depress, and I was unable to get my piece to work properly over time (it would consistently get pushed aside by the lid as it was closed, and I did not want to keep the lid open while I was playing, to minimize dust in the machine). I was forced to open the machine (voiding the warranty) and tape that switch down, and use the other two pieces, which were far easier to install. I've not had a problem since then, but I suggest if you do this, use the best tape you can find, something like black electrical tape, which is rubbery and thus easier to wrap over the switch.
Good luck!

That sounds like a pretty good idea, but I'm a little nervous about opening my ps2 like that.
What exactly am I trying to do with this third piece? Is there a little hole it goes into or something?

Yes, there should be a tiny hole near the hinge that the piece will fit into, although it's awkward to insert. It's possible the design has changed since I got my PS2, but there used to be a very small hole that the tool would fit into. However, once I had it seated, it would constantly get pushed out of the way when I closed the lid, so I ended up going the other route (taping the switch down). It's worth a shot, though. Some tools work better than others, and you might not have that problem.

What do you mean by "hinge" exactly? Sorry...I know I sound liek an idiot.
I understand that the piece goes into the upper left corner and I'm messing around with it and trying to get it to fit into some sort of hole and I'm having absolutely no luck.

Well, there are two hinges in the upper left and right corners. In the upper left, on mine, is a metal "bar" near that hinge that has a small hole at one end of it. It is that hole at the end of the metal bar that the tool needs to be inserted into. If you find an installation diagram, you can typically see where it needs to go. It's a bit cramped up there, and it's hard to get the tool in that tiny hole, but if you work it a bit (gently, try not to bend it!), you'll get it in there and it should seat pretty easily after that.

Alright, this is starting to get annoying. I can't find a single legitimate video or manual on the net that actually explains what you are supposed to do. I think the really screwed up thing is that when they mailed me Magic Keys, it didn't even come with instructions. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greeatly appreciated.

Alright, so I'm getting that this hole is somewhere on the metal bar. What part of the metal bar? The part nearer the disc or nearer the lid?
Also, how do I use a tweasers to help?
