Also, make sure you add the HDLoader 0.7e or 0.7c ELF file into the save so that you already have it on the memory card and can run it at any time. The one for the PS2 is your safest bet since some USB flash drives don't work with AR MAX :)

PS2 V9 with Custom Flip Top
MC Exploit
ULaunchELF 3.78
HDLoader 0.8a with 160Gb Maxtor HDD

Nintendo GameCube DOL-001
XenoGC 2.0
POTS adjusted to 400Ohms from 496Ohms and runs everything thrown at it

If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

That disk was also scratched.... now, my laptop is able to read the AR MAX cd... can I just burn it on to a CD-R and then use that??? Since its not an actual game i thought maybe I could... but then again, I clearly know nothing...

Nope. Can your PS2 read it none the less and get it to the Memory Card manager? If you can't then you'll have to buy your SwapMagic disc in order to work it out. :-/

Just for the sake of the MC exploit... could I do this on my New (slim) ps2??? Because that might be able to read the disc... my older PS2 is a little worn down...

Well it came up on my newer PS2... but when I go to "manage my devices" it doesn't have the USB there... so I can't copy over the files... anyone know why???

WEll, you can always use Exploit sender to send the stuff through. I'll look for the tutorial I used to get mine done.

I used the little disc that came with the USB Flash (its an Action Replay disc) and I exploited the MC on my newer PS2... then I put the PSX game I used in my older PS2 with the memory card in it... and sure enough I got the LaunchELF v3.41 screen...

I used this site to do what I had to do:

http://exploitstation.com/articles/armax_exploit_usb/ARMaxExploit...

So now... do I put HDloader on my memory card the same way??? Should I go into the PS2Savebuilder and do an ADD file and Add my HDloader along with... well do I need anything else?

After I do that though... its just a matter of hooking a hard drive up to either my laptop or up to a desktop and putting games on it via winhiip?? And then I install the hard drive and I'm good to go???

If you got LaunchELF to work, you can just put the ELF file of HDLoader onto a USB drive, then transfer it across to your MC using LaunchELF. Have a look around in LaunchELF as I can't remember the exact steps, but it should be able to access the USB drive and MC, allowing you to copy files to and from the MC.

As for as installing games:
- Laptop: Install the HDD to your PS2, connect your laptop and PS2 via a crossover network cable, then use HDL dump to install the game
- desktop: Install the HDD to your PC, then use Winhiip (guide on how to use this program above) to install the games from your PC. Then disconnect the HDD from the PC, connect it to your PS2

After one of the two steps above, you should be able to load HDLoader, then it'll read your HDD and show a list of the games you've installed on there

Three questions...

1) I just fiddled around with ElfLaunch for awhile... and I found the HDLoader... I selected it, and it brought it up, but then said "hardware error" then it said "Hard Disk Drive not found" or something along those lines....

Hard Disk drive... I'm guessing that just means a hard drive???

2) I went in my basement and I couldn't find our older computer from like... 2001 which definitely had at least a 40GB hard drive newly installed toward the end of the comps life... it might have been bigger... anyway, I couldn't find it, all I found was a computer from like 1990... do you think the hard drive in that will be able to do what I want it to? Just as a test of course... but will it be able to even run like one game??? I know it may not fit, or be compatiable, well it probably won't... but just wanted your thoughts... is it worth opening up that computer for it??

And thirdly... when you say a network cable, I know what you're talking about, but I don't have any like... PC to PC ethernet cables, just the kind setup for PC to Modem... but... will that still work with PC to PC so I can use it load games onto my hard drive???

Yep

I don't think a HDD from the early 90's will fit one game (like you said), as for compatibility... I don't know if anyone has tested with HDD of that size, so I can't say for sure. Worth a try if you want to make sure that everything works before you go out and buy a HDD, although I don't see why it won't work with a new HDD (as long as it's compatible)

If you only have straight through cables, you'll need to link it up via a router/switch or something, you can't link PC and PS2 directly with a straight through cable

Im sorry... but what do you mean by straight through cable? And if I bring this to my router... I can connect my PS2 to the router via ethernet, and then the PS2 to the router via ethernet... and that will work? Will the PS2 need to be hooked up to a television or can it just be powered on? I won't have a TV available to hook it up to where the router is...

Plus, I know network cables are pretty cheap so I can just buy one...

the only problem is I definitely cannot afford a hard drive right now... so it may be a few weeks before we figure this out for sure...

Straight through cables are what you use to connect a PC to a router, and cross over cables are what you use to connect two PCs directly (without a router). This applies to PS2 as well. What you said will work (connecting PC/PS2 to router).

Well you'll probably need the TV to run the programs before you can upload the game from PC, unless you know your way around the program in the PS2 without a TV...

well i took the old hard drive out of that old computer... and it said it had like... 453MB storage... so that's clearly not gona do me any good...

but anyways, I installed it nonetheless to try it... and when I went to HDLoader I got the same message...

Quick question... once I get an HD that works, and put games on it... will I go into HDloader to load my games??? Also, if I have Tiger 06 on my hard drive... and I wanna play it, I'll always need to use the PSX game I used as my trigger in order to play games off my hard drive... right?

The HDD is probably not compatible.

Yep if you have a compatible HDD it should load and give you a list of games that you've installed on the HDD. You'll always need the PS1 disc to trigger the MC exploit.

You'll never believe this...

so everything I did in preparation had some kind of crazy obstactle... i won't go through the boring stuff though...

FINALLY... I got a 160GB hard drive installed, I turned on my PS2, got it going, got HDloader to format the drive and it was good to go... so I had the top of the PS2 off because I wanted to check something inside (it was running slow, but i fixed it) and then when i put the top back on and screwed it in.... the PS2 went dead... its entirely dead... won't power on... I don't know what the heck happened, but I've never in my life been this mad... NOTHING went easy... and then I FINALLY complete it... and the freaking thing just dies...

have you ever taken the top off the PS2??? I imagine you have... ya know that like... silver tape thing, that connects the top so the power button works??? It came unplugged... but it barely fits in its slot so I'm afraid it might keep slipping... but either way... THE PS2 ISN'T DEAD!!!

I'll let you know how the copying of games goes

Right, of course, the ribbon cable that everyone has problem with when they take off the top, why didn't I think of that earlier! I nearly had the same problem as that when I installed a fliptop for a friend's PS2 once.

But congratulations on getting it to work again!

I sugest you first make an ISO file usin DVD Decrypter of whatever game you want to send to your PS2.

Check out what IP your PS2 is at. MAke sure your PC's network card's IP is set to 192.168.0.1, with a SUbnet Mask of 255.255.255.0. Otherwise, your PS2 and your PC won't be able to communicate at all.

You can do this in Network Connections, selecting the Properties item on your network card, then Properties again for TCP/IP settings.

Select Use Following IP address: and input the informaton I gave you above. Don't worry about DNS, you can leave that empty. And try again.

Note that for the PS2 and the PC to connect, you have to boot the server first and while it is still loading, you have to select attach in the HDL Dumb GUI software. Usually the IP is the one there, but just make sure you know the PS2's IP in your router so that the PC counterpart is able to communicate to the correct address.
