"It says the movies will be able to go into full 1080 after a 1 or 2 year grace period, and i mean HD is cool but like on movies...i can't tell a huge difference....like the ppl at Best Buy even say HDTV is "over rated" it does make video games look really good though. But actaul tv i duno it's just not that amazing"
the movies won't be able to go into full 1080 in a 1 or 2 years because they already ARE. 1080p is the highest resolution....
the article states that the ICT method they described, may be incorporated in a year or two. what does that mean?????? it means that upon release, the $499.99 ps3 will be able to play movies in 1080p (hi-def) via component cables. HOWEVER if the studios decide to impose ICT(image constraint token) in a year or so, the $499.99 ps3 will no longer be able to play movies in 1080p resolution. the movie will automagically downcovert into 540p....what does that mean???? You can Still Watch Blu-ray Movies, but they Will No Longer be in HIGH-DEFINITION.
the people at best buy like anyone and everyone else are entitled to their opinions. i however disagree.

yah i see what your saying, but it said u won't be able to wathc them in 1080 when blu ray first come out after a grace period you will though....so is the al becuase they don't want us to burn blu rasy discs?

@ hade good guide.I'm still new to the ps3 and felt a little intimidated to post here because When I first posted here a long while back I got hammered by xbox360 fanboys for not having all the specs down.I'm just a regular guy not a wiz at console specs lol.I play mostly pc games.

I am sorta confused by this also but what i think it means is the 499 PS3 will be able to wathc 1080 after this grace period

Ok so let me get this thr my little brain.
the HDMI DRM hollywood is going to use is going to just halve the res of the moive not make it unplayalbe right? and this keeps people from copying it how? 0_o

This i so stupid how the 499 console won't be able to play 1080p, i mean why does sony bother to put a Blu Ray drive in it if we won't even be able to wathc the Blu ray discs to the 1080p standards?

thats what I say since the 499 PS3 is so handicaped its 100 more than what I would pay for it 0-o,as for the high end PS3 its worth every pennie and thats alot of pennies ;_;

Yes, but am I understanding what i posted ealier correclty...that after 1 or 2 years the 499 PS3 will be able to play 1080p movies?? This sucks though now cuz I live in a small town and we will only get a few PS3's and I will end up waiting in line at Wal Mart and i bet i'll get the craqppy one...there were were 4 good Xbox 360s then 10 of the core ones at my wal mart... i got a core one

I knw nothign about preorders sorry,as for the low end ps3 it will halve/half/reduce the 1080p to 540p,now from a gameing stand point I think it can do games in 1080p analog anyone want to back me up on this state ment?
To me the low end PS3 has so many....little thigns missing it can just be a headache to deal with it 0-o

Yes at 540,unless hollywood gets sneaky and releases some that are digital 1080p only.

I want to get y PS3 on the 17th, damn if i can't find anywhere to pre order then i hope i get lucky and get the 600$ one at my wal mart...The porblem is that when you pre order you might not get into until a couple months afteer the release.

yes both have blue tooth but the low end dosnt have the fancy remote the high end dose and the low end might not have wireless pads 0-o

as i pointed out on the first page in the "preordering" section there are only a handfull of places taking preorders. Gamecrazy and F.Y.E. in the US are for sure taking preorders and in Canada Toys R'US is taking preorders. there was a thread on here about Sam's Club or BJs, as they too were said to be taking names. those are the only places i know for sure. i still think your best bet is going to be GameStop or EB. both are not taking preorders yet, but if you are concerned call your local store and get some firsthand advice. i believe those stores are said to start taking preorders come september or even october.
also if you arn't able to secure a preorder from a reliable store, think about how your local walmart went about selling their 360s. what time did they allow people to lineup to get a 360??? what time did people start showing up??? how many systems (premiums/cores) did they get??? figure what time you showed up and how far behind or ahead of everyone you were, and what package was available to you by then???
OR
you could simply apply and get a job at gamestop/eb or something and try to get first dibs that way
