really? i can play UK bought games on a ps3 console bought from USA?
Sorry for double checking, triple checking and quadruple checking, its just i've read so many contradicting reviews, saying that if you buy a ps3 from USA and you live in the UK, you need to buy games from USA/Japan. And also that if i bought a ps3 from USA, i wouldnt be able to play/watch Blu-ray movies bought in the UK. So everything i'd have to buy from USA/Japan for it to work? or again have i got this all wrong?
Please could someone explain in detail :) thanks

the PS3 is region free meaning all ps3 games will work on any ps3,japan is just getting the one with the silver trim and such.

info extracted from http://www.i4u.com/article6569.html
Quote: The Japanese Sony PS3 shares the region-code with the US Sony PS3 release. So if you live in Europe you need to import US or Japan Blu-ray movies
I'm not buying this for myself, i'm going to stick it on ebay. But im just trying to figure out the disadvantages to why someone wouldnt want to buy one.
It seems that if the games are region free, most hardcore gamers would have no problem with buying an imported ps3. However according to the source (linked above) they would need to buy Blu-ray movies from USA or Japan...
Still confused...

i'll still try to get 1, but its highly unlikely they will be available in New York - i mean come on - i am going december 26th - they are sure to be sold out!
However if i do find one, it's going straight in my suitcase, back home, and then on Ebay UK! lol
Someones gotta be desperate enough to want one!
Not too fussed really if i cant get one, i most likely wont even get one for myself on the UK March 07 release - UK prices are so expensive - and the only game i play is Pro Evolution Soccer. That is, until GTA IV comes out!
Naa i can wait a good few months after UK release, maybe wait til Xmas 07 :)

Any trouble boss?
If I was encouraging him by talking about talking about PS3 selling openly I will make a note to keep that stuff to PMs.
BTW just so I can remember no openly selling used parts and games on these forums if you want to trade crap in PMs thats fine but keep it private and all right?
Not like I will buy/sell/trade on forums thats what ebay and the like are for. *L*

Toys "R" Us PS3 pre-orders Sunday for U.S I belive
ok here is what I found I dont know if its tru but this is a heads up for Toysrus Those unlucky souls who missed out on getting their next-gen system pre-orders at Gamestop will have another chance to throw money at a large, multinational corporation this weekend. Toys "R" Us will be taking pre-orders for the PS3 for $50 down starting on Sunday, Oct. 29.
Stores contacted by Joystiq said they didn't know exactly how many pre-orders they would be taking, but a poster on the Gaming-Age forums estimates from five to 14 PS3s per store (take these estimates with an unconfirmed grain of salt). The offer will be well-publicized in the Toys "R" Us "big book" (see pp. 64, 66) due in this weekend's newspapers, so be sure to get to the store early if you want to beat out little Billy's kindly old grandmother and others like her.here the list if people dont belive me (spead the news)

it was one of the earlier posts that said the us ones didnt have the silver facia.
i dont understand what you mean "no Euro will be getting a specifics PS3 that will paly all the games but the movies will be euro only thus the deley."
i think the delay has more to do with the NTSC to pal/secam conversion and because we have a 12 month warranty and it gives them time to iron out any bugs. we are area 2 like japan(i think) so that isnt the issue.

....Sony is ramping up their region wars, the Euro PS3 will only play region 2 movies while the US and JAP ones will play region 1-2..........
As of now the games are crossed regioned 1-2,sony will be grouping more regions as they expand PS3 sales across the world.....

retail if you can find it is
Low end 500+ tax + shiping + game about 700 when all is said and done
High end 600+ tax + shiping + game about 800 when all is said and done
Bundles of the PS3 are 700-1200$
Ebay and other places have average prices going for 900-2500.
In other words update you PC,get a 360 and a wii its going to be awhile until the PS3 comes down to earth...
