I thought I was speaking in good taste...definitely not at anyone here @ the forum. I didn't know you could not use those terms in jest. No problem though, I'll keep my conversations or replies squeaky clean. I really didn't know.:P

You're talking OEM. Recode remains in the Nero 8 Suite and the AVI conversion program Nero Vision is still there as well (they're also still in 7 Ultra). Nero can't advocate using their products to copy copyrighted materials that are protected, but they definitely don't appear to be trying to do away with the programs. If they did it, they would be making their product less competitive on the market.

good luck :)
I checked Download.com to see what the program actually did. Seems it's more oriented toward AVI and mobile formats with DVD formats as a part of the inclusive package. I also found some negative comments about the program performance. In fact the 3 showing were all negative.

We've really gone off the reservation on this one. Not much to do with DVD Shrink.

Pac man and all others-- i have the solution to nero 8 and dvd shrink --burning after u use shrink and it places files into your folder dont burn to disk right away close shrink -keeping your movie files in your certain folder and download FixVTS and open the folder your movies files are in and choose a file in there --then pick full dvd but b4 this make sure the back up files option is un checked then once this is done close FixVTS and reopen shrink and open folder and burn to disk then the movies will burn in order--it worked for me and every thing was ok--i had the same probs every one had with nero 8 my dvd's were messed up and out of place so i took the same messed dvd and went tho this process and reburned it from the existing dvd and every thing was fine!

Thanks for the input, but the fast solution is use DVD Shrink to transcode to the HD and burn with Express. Rarely do I get a solution in one sentence, but that one I've posted before. ;) There's no need for FixVTS or further processing of the files.

I was talking about "regular" DVDs. HD = Hard Drive.
Once DVD Shrink has successfully transcoded a DVD, it is most often DVD compliant. So why would you want to use FixVTS? Before I'd do all the extra processing, I'd use the free ImgBurn to burn the output. Burning with another program isn't needed though when a person saves the Shrink transcoded output to the hard drive. From the hard drive DVD Express from the Nero 8 suite does the job correctly. The only problem has been with auto burning using the Nero Burning ROM as a supported burner (one of the group that auto burns with Shrink).

Gotha in the other Nero 8 & Shrink thread Norboo - here's repost:
Haven't tried it yet Norboo but my guess is it's probably not fixed.
Give me few and I'll download and get it a whirl.
You can download previous version of Nero 7 from aD - link

I'm a fairly inexperinece user of dvd shrink but I did figure this one out. I too ran into the problem when I used dvd shrink with nero 8 it would play fine on my pc but then when I played it on my dvd recorder it said the disk was incompatible. Went back to nero 7 and everything was fine. Then I installed 8 again and just out of curiosity I used their burning program to burn the dvd instead of using shrink and guess what - everything worked fine. I like nero 8 so I guess I'll only be able to use dvd shrink to upload movies from disc to my pc.

Other than those, files can be transcoded to the HDD and burned manually with most burning programs, including burning programs from Nero 8. Shrink can output in both file and image mode, so it doesn't matter if a burning program only handles one format; just plan ahead with the Shrink output.

I installed today the latest Nero 8 version and dvd shrink on my new vista running computer, everything was running normal but the dvd also only worked on my computer and not on a normal dvd player or other computer...
So i followed your advices, backed it up with dvd shrink and then burned it with Nero 8 express: it works perfectly now. THANK YOU for the tips!!! (i only had to put 6 dvd's in the trash, could have been more... hahahaha)

Is there any way that DVD Shrink can be updated to work directly with the Nero Burning ROM? I Have no option to use Nero 7 because I only have Vista; and my computer that had XP was stolen! :(
