Ignore my last post as I went to other posts and got (I think) all my answers about IMGBURN and Shrink. Have not tried it yet but do plan to try today.
THANKS to all but especially PACMAN777. (and the person that wrote that little guide on adding IMGBURN to Shrink)
for those others that are struggling with the NERO 8/Shrink problem, and have decided to try IMGBURN, YOU HAVE TO GO TO THIS LINK. MAN, is it great for the AUTO feature of IMGBURN. I only use Yuden and Verbatim (Mitsubishi), considering the bad burns with the cheaper media, I find in time and throw aways, the cheap ones are not worth it as these two have NEVER been the cause of a throw away. If I get a bad burn, I always look for the problem somewhere else. Which is why I had to look for why Nero 8/Shrink gave me some problems.
Here is the link for IMGBURN Auto feature.
http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=173...&showtopic=4249
As for the DVDFAB, good product, but I have had mixed results with it but always seem to go back to Decryptor/Shrink for reliability.

Thank you both for your replies. I have continued trying to fix this problem.
I don't see any Nero related box to check, so I'm not certain if perhaps there is something I am doing wrong there.
I uninstalled DVD Shrink from my computer, downloaded it again from here, and reinstalled it on my computer. The first time, everything works fine. It allows me to select my DVD-RW drive to write the image to, and burns the DVD as normal. The second time I go to use Shrink, however, it again only allows me to select my hard drive, telling me "to enable burning, please install Nero."
I have been through this process several times now. I uninstall DVD Shrink, reinstall, get one good burn, then it doesn't let me burn again. Over and over.
Any suggestions?

I don't get an option to put the checkmark by my DVD drive. The only thing that comes up under "select backup target" is "Create ISO image file" and "Create DVD files" (which gives me the hard disc folder). To the right of "select backup target" is a clickable link that read "(To enable burning, please install Nero.)" The link just brings me to the Nero homepage.
Nero is definitely installed and working. And DVD Shrink will recognize Nero, and allow me to select my DVD drive and burn the first time after I re-install DVD shrink. But the second time, the DVD drive option disappears, and it's telling me to install Nero.

This happened to me too when I tried to go to Nero 8 with Shrink. I had to uninstalled Nero AND Shrink and re-install several times.
I think you have to do both and re-install in the correct order.
Nero then Shrink as Shrink needs to "look" for Nero in certain folders.
Eventually it found it but then would not work with Nero 8 (see previous posts)
This morning am using Shrink to create the IMAGE or FILEs (VIDEO_TS) and not write to DVD but to the HD.
then, I installed IMGBURN (free) and using it to burn both IMAGES and the VIDEO_TS files to DVD.
To expand, I use Shrink if the DVD is larger than 4.6GB and then burn with IMGBURN or Nero.
If larger, i use Shrink to reduce to 4.6gb, output to FILE or IMAGE.
then use Nero OR IMGBURN to burn to DVD.
Not sure if I will like Nero or IMGBURN best but trying both.
of course Nero is about $99 and IMGBURN is free.
Are you trying to use Nero 8 with Shrink?

Sorry for keep coming up with more thoughts but let me say to the beginners, one of the hard things to do is keep track of the speed you need to burn a DVD. When I went to Nero 8, the crazy thing set my speed to 16x. Auto did not work right.
I wasted several DVD before I realized this.
Using IMGBURM with the WEB site I posted for "AUTO" in a past post, gives you a manual on how to setup your DVDs in IMGBURN to automatically have IMGBURN to set your burner to the right speed as it will read the type on the DVD, compare it to IMGBURN setting and you will burn good DVDS.
IMGBURN says it will try to find the MFG of the DVD but had no sucess, so I used Plextools to determine the type.
To get the DVD type, you can go to www.Plextor.com and download their PLEXTOOLS PROFESSIONAL LE.
Put a DVD in the Drive and it will tell you the TYPE.
it will look like: TYG02 for Yuden, MKM-001 for Verbatim (Mitsubishi)
Follow web site manual and it is all taken care of. You can do this for EVERY DVD type you have and it will record them all.
You can even setup this for multi-burners and DVD types if you have more than one burner.

You say you have Nero installed. Why are you worrying with Shrink-a good program- when Nero Recode will do the same thing as Shrink but better AND work with Nero too. I assume you're removing DRMs with Anydvd or DVdFab and not relying solely on Shrink.JM2C

Today, after I installed IMGBURN, my Shrink (via PACMAN777)has an option to:
Burn with Nero
Burn ISO Image BURN with IMGBURN
Burn to file
BUT under the Burn ISO image, it says, BURN with IMGBURN.
I am using the Shrink that was referenced by PACMAN777 that "looks" for IMGBURN, not the standard one on the internet.
This takes it back to a ONE step process and IMGBURN pop ups and you can watch it burn unlike Nero.

Actually I move forward very carefully as when I don't, I don't like to get burned by loosing my place or wasting my DVD's as i buy the most expensive and the best.
I am planning on moving to what you are recommending but need a "sure fire" method until I do.
those "upgrades" are in the works but today, i got caught up on a big backlog of DVD burns with DVD decryptor, Shrink, and IMGBURN.
Sorry, what is a DRM? Have not heard of Anydvd? but have tried DVDFAB but had problems with it before on DL's.
Will looking into though, Thanks

DRMs are the encryptions that the DVD makers use to keep you from backing up your DVDs. If you are doing the newer movies, Shrink is incapable of opening the files! AnyDVD and DVDFab help do the newer releases. Fab a ripper in the free version and AnyDVD (21day free trial) a ripper and also fools the pc into thinking the DVD is not encrypted and allows programs like Shrink and Nero Recode and ImgBurn to rip an/or recode(shrink) the DVD.
anydvd here: slysoft.com
Or a free program like DVD Fab Decrypter from here:

Glad to see you got the Shrink with ImgBurn going. Good little setup. ImgBurn is the updated burning software from DVD Decrypter, by the same author. You've just added ImgBurn support to Shrink and dropped the older DVD Decrypter burner from the list of supported burners.
DVD Decrypter (for decryption) by itself is obsolete, just as the decryption software in DVD Shrink is. Shrink is still a good transcoding program though. Most transcoding programs nowadays don't come with decryption software. That allows them to be given away or sold in most markets without "big brother" interfering. Decryption software is what is illegal in most areas. That said, you may want to check out RipIt4Me. It's obsolete, but still does most of the releases. It makes working with Shrink and ImgBurn similar to a one-click program. Use the free DVDFab HD Decrypter from DVDIdle when RipIt4Me doesn't work and you've got all you'll normally need (and for free). AnyDVD is okay, but I'd rather work with cleaned files from the hard drive than use a driver type decryption program. With the HDD files, you can go back to check and reprocess or edit when needed.

Tried the DVDFAB Decryptor today and created a file.
Now, if I need it "shrunk" to 4.6gb, What program do you use instead of Shrink??
I did not see an option in DVDFAB to shrink, but just to burn so assumed it was a "like for like"

Free DVDFab just rips the file to a folder. Go to Shrink then open the Video_TS folder in shrink from the folder DVDFab saved the rip to and let it do it's thing and I see you have it set to burn with ImgBurn-no problem. If you want Fab to shrink and burn disc you must PAY for the DVDFab platimum option.

Ahh, OK, as the old Shrink is still the best way for shrinking into the 4.6gb.

OK, are there any other "Shrink" programs, worth of notice out there that don't cost an arm and leg besides the DVD Shrink 3.2?

Not that I am aware. DVD Shrink is one of the best at what it does, among free or paid software. If you have nero, you can use Nero Recode, which is kinda like an "updated" DVD Shrink.

If you have a good system with plenty of resources you may want to try out DVD Rebuilder. There's a free version with free encoders and then there's a donor version, DVD RB Pro. For the price of the donation, it's one of the best programs around. It's a true encoder setup. Shrink and most of the other programs are transcoders. Do the homework and you'll find there's a lot of difference.
By the way, for those wondering about content, 4.37GB is the max content of a DVD5, 4.7GB DVD. Most transcoding/encoding programs use a limit smaller than 4.37.
