The title says it all. Automatic burning with Nero8 as a supported burner in DVD Shrink will not work, at least not with the version supporting ImgBurn. The problem is the Video_TS folder isn't written into the output going to the DVD. Open the DVD and all you get are the BUP, IFO, and VOB files. The files play fine on my PC playback software. However, without the Video_TS folder, most standalone players won't open the recorded DVD. Burning the output manually using Nero Express from the Nero8 suite works. So, you're not left without burner ware. You have to save Shrink output and burn manually though. The free ImgBurn works as well as a manual burner, and when installed for Shrink support, burns automatically.

Update: After using the clean tool and reinstalling Nero 8 the Video_TS folder showed up the way it's supposed to. Unfortunately the DVDs still won't play properly. The video doesnt start right and then goes to a track and starts looping. Some people say theirs start in the middle and jump to the end. It acts like the structure has been altered. I tested with older discs with light copy protection to take copy protection out of the variables as much as possible. Shrink handled them easily when using the Nero 7 burning ROM. Changing to Nero 8 and leaving everthing else the same, the discs came out flawed when auto burning with the Burning ROM.

Hi, I'm new here and I am familiar with XP but I recently bought a new computer and it is operating with Vista. I installed Shrink and Decrypter just fine, but when I went to install Nero 7 it says there are compatibility issues. So at the moment I am using the updated version of Nero which is Nero 8 and I have come into the same problems that have been listed previously. They will play on my computer but not in the DVD players. But if Nero 7 has compatibility issues with Vista what can I use or how do I burn them manually with Nero Express. Or can I still use Nero 7?

Also, I had AnyDVD on my old computer and now I can't seem to use the same code to install it on my new computer. Do I have to purchase it again or is there a way around this?

Use ImgBurn to burn the resulting DVD if can't get nero to work, however latest version of Nero 7 and Nero 8 should be compatible with Vista.

@dmosheye

Onestly I' ll go further one step beyond to Nero 6. I Don't care about DVD-9 authoring since DVD Fab covers my needs.

Still using DVD Decrypter, Ifo Edit, DVD Shrink, Covert to DVD 0.52.

For the future Inch Allah!

If you bought AnyDVD and installed it on your old computer, then you were also mailed a key for you program and told to save it in a very safe place, because you would not be issued another. There is no way to enter you old serial number into AnyDVD and the only way to activate the new install is with the key you were sent.

If you have proof (papers and print outs, that you bought) and lost the key, they have made exceptions. Email them at slysoft .com site. If you haven't bought the program you're out of luck here. Cracks are not discussed and will get you in trouble.

I have the email saved with the keys for AnyDVD and CloneDVD, but when I try to open them I get a message that says it doesn't know what program to open them with and I have tried the windows live internet search and I still cannot get it to open correctly. And as far as Nero 7 when I tried to install it with Vista it says there is a compatibility issue, is this something I can just ignore or is there something else I should be using or doing?

Thanks:)

Install AnyDVD and CloneDVD on the pc. Then save the keys to your desktop (or wherever you like).
Now double click on them to activate each.

edit to add- update Nero to the latest version - 7.10.1.2. You can find it on their site under support then downloads.
The later version of 7 support Vista - the earlier ones don't. Sounds like you're running an earlier one.

If binkie's instructions, fail then something's wrong with your set up. Go to slysoft and get tech support since you have your keys.

Or better yet PM zebadee--here at AD, he IS slysoft.LOL

saxovts, using dvd shrink and then nero 8 on autoburn has problems

either create an ISO to the HDD then burn with nero 8 or just use imgburn which would be your best choice

Zoso is right. To use Nero 8 as a burner the output files have to be saved to the hard drive and burned manually. There's stickies about this info and it's covered in several threads in both the Nero and Shrink forums, Nero 8 is not a Shrink supported program. Nero 5, 6, and 7 are the only supported versions. You can save an ISO image or the files in a Video_TS folder to burn. Nero burns both equally well and Shrink can output either.

Thanks ZOSO, but it's the wrong time of year. Nice weather now, so have to take care of all those things I couldn't do during the winter. Too bad yard work got involved. I never did like going around in circles on a mower, even if I can have another brew after every few rounds. LOL

Got another question for you guys. I am a teacher and I have a valid subscription to united video streaming. Here we can download educational videos. I use to be able to download them and burn them with Nero 7 on my old pc with XP. It is temporarily out of commision because I'm stupid. Anyway with my Vista pc I tried this and I cannot get nero 7 to work right and Nero 8 doesn't burn the video file and I don't know how to do it manually. So I downloaded Imgburn, I still cannot get these videos to burn correctly. The files are .ask files which tells me nothing but I am hoping one of you knows what I am talking about. How can I burn these onto a dvd for my class to play in an actual dvd player and not on my computer? Please help. :)

Nero 8 still has most of what Nero 7 contained, with additions. That said, to play ask files on a DVD player entails the ask files be converted to DVD. Some players nowadays will also play VCD, DivX, and other formats. Still, you're looking at conversion. Since you have Nero, try using Nero Vision to open the ask files. If it successfully processes the files, it should convert to DVD without a hitch. I use Nero Vision and ConvertXtoDVD for most of my file conversions, but I've not dealt with the ask format before?

By the way, Nero Vision is a straight forward app. Select Nero Vision from the program list in Nero, locate the source files by browsing, once found open and proceed to process. Nero Vision also burns, so no need to go to Nero Express or the Burning ROM (unless you want to save your output to the hard drive and burn later).
