In order to play psx backups you will have to use a Gameshark or Action Replay. DVD Rips will only work if they are under 650 mb. However, when the Swap Magic V3 comes out it will support 700 mb rips.

I'm one for one so far on burning backups. I did Wakeboarding Unleashed using DVD Decryptor, had to burn at 2.4x, but it worked like a charm. Flip tops are great!!! I'm so glad I found this thread through google.

you just gotta try a few different kinds and see what works best for you. I can use about any brand except for maxell and khypermedia, always had real crappy luck with those. but other people use them without a problem, just gotta see what works for ya.

I used maxell DVD-R and I folled these exact steps
Ps2 dvd backup
Using Nero

1. Start Nero, Use the Wizard (for easy use)
2. Select "DVD" then select Next
3. Select "Copy a DVD" then select Next
4. Select your source drive
5. Select or Deselect "copy on the fly" then click next
6. Select your write speed
7. Select either "Test", "Test and Burn" or "Burn"
8. Press "Burn" to begin

This next way is without the Wizard

1. Start Nero, and select "File" then "New..."
2. On upper left side of the window from the drop down menu select "DVD"
3. Select "DVD Copy" Icon
4. Select "Copy options" tab
5. Select or Deselect "copy on the fly"
6. Select source drive and read speed
7. If needed Select "Image" tab to choose image directory and select/deselect "delete image..."
8. Select "Burn" tab and choose your settings
9. Press "Copy" to begin
and it still does not work.
Do i need to decode it or something
NEED HELP
Thanks

thats my point exactly, they work for you, but not me. everyone's setup is different, makes sense that we all find stuff that works better for us, even if it dont work for others. the best thing to do is figure it out by trial and error.

I agree with Darthnip... it's just trial and error. Other DVD-R brands you could try are Fujifilm, Memorex, Verbatim, or Ritek. Other burning softwares you could try would be RecornNow Max, Alcohol 120%, or DVD Decrypter. Though Nero is one of the top dogs out there so it's kinda wierd that it didn't work. Just make sure you burn an image file to the HD first and that the burn speed is 1X.

Hello to everybody. I'm new to this forum, but have had a flip-top for about 3 weeks. I have yet to run into a problem backing up my games, until yesterday. I made a backup of Freestyle Metal X, using DVD Decrypter, as usual. I had no problems with the burn process, using tdk dvd+r, but when I go to play the backup I get nothing. The swap magic prompts me to insert the backup, as usual, but when I do I get a black screen, despite the fact that I get the blue border indicating it is a good load. What gives? Never had this problem before.

game may just not work on the current version of the swap disks

college...

there is no talk of downloading games on this forum.
This is piracy free forum and you need to go to a different forum for that kind of info.
thanks.

I just wanted to thank everyone who participated in this thread for keeping me utterly useless at work for an entire day.

But on the "flip" side, me and my new dvd burner are making perfect PS2 backups.

Thanks!

mscollege why would you spend time downloading a game to burn on dvd-r. since you have a dvd writer why don't you use the original??? You need the original game anyways!!! You can't just download a game that you don't already own.

Try using Primo Prassi to burn the file.

Hey Dills, or anyone for that matter, have you guys had success with cd loader? I'm just concerned that it won't screw up my PS2 lol. ALso every time you turn on the PS2 after that first time with CD Loader, will it go to that same screen? Thanks
