Luiginski,
I think the best idea is to wait a bit for Zone Loader which will consist of a dvd, a cdrom for ps2, and a cdrom for ps1 :)

SUp guys,
A quick question. To backup my PS2 games onto DVD-R can I make a straight copy on the fly from CD TO CD like we can do with CD-Rs or is there another step like making an image and then burning.
Thanks

Well, if your talkin about backing up dvd's, I usually use Nero, haven't had a coaster yet. I make an image to my HD and then burn from there.

A plain old cd burner will work for burning cd based ps2 games.

dude you cant discuss downloading games of any kind in this forum, doesn't matter if you own it or not. sorry. but what you got there are probably rar files, do a search on here for rars or bin/cue and you'll probably find what you need.

If I'm not mistaken "downsampling" is when you make a DVD based ps2 game smaller so that it can fit it on cd-r. Methods for doing this would be to remove the movies or lower the resolution of the graphics. People do this because they don't want to buy a dvd burner or pay for the blank dvd's but it lowers the quality of the game.

sumoman - please do not post a new thread with a question then ask the same question on a pre existing thread. just be patient man, your question will be answered. when you post it all over the place people like hanedrick end up answering it twice :)

This question probably applies more to the Swap Magic disks than the Flip Top, but what does a green border mean when you hit the X after the swap?
The instructions that I received says that a blue border is ok, red means it won't boot but does not list green. I made a backup of my Summoner 2 DVD and it seems to play fine. I boot up the Swap Magic DVD, open the fliptop and swap the backup and press X on the controller. The border briefly flashes green then turns blue and loads the backup. I have been unable to find anything on the web or these forums saying what the green border means, other than one reference saying that it might be a bad burn, though it is playing with no errors. All the others I have backed up up work with no problems or green border.

Green: The backup is okay, but Swap Magic is having trouble reading/understanding the disc but will try anyway. If the game plays, then ok.. If not, the most common problem is simply the use of bad quality CD-R or DVD-R media. Copy the backup to a better disc, and it should work. This is a general problem with all backup solutions. People are not using quality media.

Thanks jumbo11. I had tried a google search as well as checking the faqs at www.ps2cover.com for that info but didn't have any luck. I used a Verbatim DVD -R at 1x on that one. The others I had burnt were using Riteks at 1x. I will try burning it again on a Ritek.

You know how you need Gameshark or Action Replay to play PS1 games on your PS2. Would it be possible to boot a copied AR or GS using the swap magic disks and then by doing that play PS1 games? Or will the console check for a boot code again.
Thanks all help is really appreciated.

Thanks I guess this is what I need
Ps2 dvd backup
Using Nero
1. Start Nero, Use the Wizard (for easy use)
2. Select "DVD" then select Next
3. Select "Copy a DVD" then select Next
4. Select your source drive
5. Select or Deselect "copy on the fly" then click next
6. Select your write speed
7. Select either "Test", "Test and Burn" or "Burn"
8. Press "Burn" to begin
This next way is without the Wizard
1. Start Nero, and select "File" then "New..."
2. On upper left side of the window from the drop down menu select "DVD"
3. Select "DVD Copy" Icon
4. Select "Copy options" tab
5. Select or Deselect "copy on the fly"
6. Select source drive and read speed
7. If needed Select "Image" tab to choose image directory and select/deselect "delete image..."
8. Select "Burn" tab and choose your settings
9. Press "Copy" to begin

For me, DVDDecrypter and RecordNow Max work best. But yes, that is what you need. Note: DVDDecrypter is free.

Looks like another game won't work with Swap Disc 2. Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness copies fine and I get the blue border, however that's all I get. It just stays at the "Insert Disc" with a blue boarder... However I think the game sucks and I'm more bumbed I wanted it backed up. Live and learn...

yeah i had the same results with tomb raider, but it does appear to start to boot using the SM discs and cdloader, but i got a V7 board so cdloader wont work with it. i'll be testing it on a V4 soon, should work fine.

I have a v7 too. oh well, this game is a real waste for me. controls suck, camera angels suck, bugs all over and it's very slow... they ripped off the name and are banking on the movie to help push this pile!

Darthnip, how do you apply cdloader to the loading of a game? I have the program, do I burn it to a disc, CD-R, DVD-R? And if so what is the sequence of events to play the game? Does cdloader just take the place of swap magic? Thanks
