I've heard that this PS2 MAME emulator won't work very well, only couple of games runs as they should, so I haven't bothered to even test it.

Damn, I never knew PS2 could run those... Im new to PS2 and mod Xboxs. I have all those Emus on my xbox hardrive, I think it's more easy for the Xbox to run them.

They both are very easy to burn, just stuff emulator files and directories containing ROMs to CD and let the laser smoke. You don't have to convert them to ISO, use Nero and burn the CD with Mode2/XA, ISO+Joliet and long filenames.
If you want both emulators to same CD you must use PS2menu or some similar utility but I can't help you with these since I haven't used them myself.

the MAME emulator only works with naplink (according to the programer)... so burning it to a disk will just result in coasters. and yes, the max rom limit is 30.

Do I need to take my PS2 hard drive out of my PS2 and put it into my computer to transfer the emulator files onto the PS2?

1) what do you use to transfer emulators from your computer to your PS2 hard drive?
2) a. Do you have to put the hd from the PS2 into the comp?
b. Do you need to switch the hd to master or slave or what when you put it in the comp?
3) Can you just use like hd loader to access and play the games off the PS2 hard drive?

superstui- http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/122897 that'll get you to be able to load stuff to your HDD from your computer without having to take the HDD out of your ps2 and put it in your PC. I'm still downloading the emu's i want to use so I don't know how well its gonna work. But it does great for copying reg. ps2 gaems over to the HDD. hope that helped out

thank you for the link. Is there an easier way of doing that by taking the hard drive out of the PS2 and putting it inot the computer? Wouldn't that be simpler?
BTW what is FTPing your PS2?

SNES Station doesn't support loading from HD so don't bother to even try. I'm not sure about PGEN but probably it won't work neither.

actually I got SNESstation to load up from my HD today. I haven't gotten the games to load up yet, but the emulator is working.
You can do the same thing by plugging your HDD into your PC, but if you plan on loading a lot of stuff from your PC its best to be able to network it. FTPing is being able to see/edit your files on your PS2 HDD and memory card on your PC without removing the HDD from the PS2.

Yes, you can run emulator from HD, but emulator itself cannot load roms from there because it is not supported.

This seems to be quite interesting issue: Someone got it to work with SM without problems but another one won't. I don't know details about this, but I've heard that at least one of reasons lies in emulator's coding.

IMBnes is for NES games, not SNES...

Ok I understand that the snestation does not work with the hd loader but I tried anyways. Now I noticed when it runs if you press select it asks for you to insert disc and press X. Do you think it could be possible to burn the roms onto a disc and read it that way? I do not have a modded ps2 - just the hd loader and the will to exploit it. I thought that it said on the website that the author of the snestation would be working on a version of the program that would support the hard drive. This is dated dec 22,2003!? What happened?

If you ment that you'd use emulator itself from HD and ROMs from separate CD it should be possible, but I don't know can PS2 read burned CD without some kind of mod: Safest way to test that is to throw emu to HD and burn some ROMs to CD-RW.

If I've understood correctly the project isn't dead, but the author (Hiryu) doesn't have much time to spend with it nowadays. He's given his blessing to couple of guys who are planning an unofficial fix for Swap magic problems but situation of next official build version is still unconfirmed.

ok I tried to burn the roms onto a cd. Then ran the emu off the hd. I then hit select and put in my cd. I think it worked but I cannot find the roms. I have the following on the screen:
file folder followed by "..."
file folder followed by "RES"
I used Nero to burn the cd and the guide to burn them from the snestation website "creating a cd for modded consoles". I stuck in a file folder of four roms along with all the zipped roms for good measure. - I have no clue what I'm doing - can you tell? :)
I am pretty sure that it does read this disc as it gives me more than the two filefolders mentioned above when I just run the snestation without the disc. I think that I am doing the burn incorrectly as the last time I used Nero is about 4 years ago backing up cd's for my ps1. I am speculating that the cd r will work on an unmodded ps2 with the hardrive loaded up with the emu because the emu program does not do the Sony check for county code, copy right etc? Does this sound right, no?

am I right in saying that...
even though I can FTP my PS2 and I have a hard drive with hd loader I won't be able to use emulators unless I have a mod or swap?

Quotes from the official SNES Station forum:
"Unfortunately, SNES-Station won't read ROMs from the disc unless you use a swap trick or a MOD."
"SNES-Station won't run ROMs using AR Max, and it never will. AR Max uses a method for loading CDs that's like UMCDR (ahem). Therefor if SNES-Station won't work with UMCDR, neither will it work using AR Max."

Did a lot more searching and found some actual messages from Hiryu on a different forum. I think alot of these threads could be averted if he would just update his site with a quick line that he is still working on this project with a little info on what has happened lately. I'm not saying that he needs to give us a date of the new release or anything like that. The last udate being 2003 give the impression that it is a dead horse and everyone seems to want a turn giving it a good whack. It's seem obvious that there is a fair amount of demand for the new version from what I can tell. - my two cents....
