i dont recall if this was answered, but is there a way to run pgen emu AND roms from hdd? i dont have chipped ps2 or swap magic discs. i just figured out the MC exploit and emulators are everybody's favorite. it seems that it'll take some devoted and talented ppl to get gba and snes-station running from hdd. if pgen works from hdd, lemme know.

that progress isnt true anymore... perhaps its for a different emulator? hopefully, becuase the progress i was tracking was for a GBA emu that my friend was programming. the project is at a stand-still hand has all but been scrapped. he shut down the website as he came to some problems and gave up on the emu. sorry for the delay in response. but yes, Jlhfit where can the other emu be found?

A ROM is a game such as super nintendo, sega, gameboy, and so forth
but instead of it being a cartridge they are files stored on your computer.. now an emulator is a program that you run where you can select the roms and play them jus as you could on a console..
theres alot more info. but these are the basics hope it helps

andf you dont need to say your stupid for not knowing because there was a point when i didnt know either and the same with everyone else you just gotta ask :)... after all thats what forums are for right?

oh and thank you BZBOARDER, MIKDOG, and JLHFIT for all your help on the GBA emu...

If you scroll down the page and on the left bar, there's a stack of good emulators for mosts systems on http://www.ps2nfo.com

If that doesn't tickle your fancy, then http://ps2emu.dcemu.co.uk/ is good

There are a number of Xbox and Playstation 2 emulators for PC around, and both consoles use DVD roms, and have a large amount of virtual memory. It should be possible for the PS2 (or 3 when it comes out) to be able to play xbox games eventually.

A few friends of mine have Xboxs, and i've found that it's really tempermental, i.e. "The disc you are using is dirty or corrupted" etc, that's Microsoft for you.

However, the Xbox itself has a few good games, and I don't think buying an Xbox for just one game is necessary. If there isn't an Xbox emulator out there for PS2, for those who know a good programer, get in contact with them and see if they can make one.

ok i have kind of an interesting question... well i just got 16 gigs worth of GBA roms via torrent now one of the folders i got is entitled emulation and in it are a bunch of atari, collecovision, nintendo, and gameboy (original not GBA) roms that where converted to GBA and they work on the GBA emulators now what i was wondering is if these can be converted would if it would be possible to convert the GBA games to something like SNES or SEGA so it could be played on something like Pgen or Snes-station???

Also i would prefer it on Pgen since snes-station is a quite laggy and that bring me to another question... has anyone yet figured out a way or developed a patch for snes-station to prevent some of the lag that prevent actually playing of games like Super Mario RPG, or Earthbound, or Secret of Mana/Evermore?? any help would be appreciated.... thanx

shaunny .... this is to you. i have made 3 emulators and i can tell you its VERY hard work. for example MAME has already had 120+ updates because theres so much "hacking" in a sense to do that its tireing and technical. to make a emulator you have to understand the system inside and out and beyond that.you have to know every detail or you cant emulate that specific system....to the point to emulate the Xbox on ps2 would be impossible for many reasons.the best is the GFX card,PS2 is completely diffrent in that area.(your thinking so what a card is a card)no no no ps2's card is a little older therfore has older drivers. no matter what a older card cant have newer drivers unless the drivers are intended to work on that card.(for example go buy a ATI rage and try and get the top of the line drivers, combine the two and the card will most liekly melt itself) Xbox was made later in time with more drivers and optical pipelines. Xbox is better in that area (im a fan of ps2 but still) Xbox GFX are superior in alot of ways. also look at splinter cell choas theory. Xbox version is longer because it uses less space on GFX where as ps2 is smaller to try and make a better graphitized game.the same problem happend with RE4( Gcubes GFX card is very very very good) if you where able to make a Xbox emu work on a ps2 id be ready to get your wallet out and go get another ps2 cause you fried it. another reason is emulating the paddle... Xbox has more in its triggers and ps2 has the top buttons (xbox has white/black but there not the same as triggers.and one more out of the 100's of reasons why you cant emulate it on ps2 is Xbox live....your memory will get confused and your system could crash(turn off then back on)......point is we have to get Xbox and ps2 and Gcube working on our computers first then try for a more complicated approach. (im working on a Xbox one i may release to the public no commercial games work but a few demos do) and also i wouldnt waste time getting them to work on your ps2's anyway from what i seen Xbox 360 and Ps3 may be easier to make emulators for other older systems. all of this is said that we havent managed to get ps2/Xbox/Gcube working on our comps...one last thing ps2 may be able to run on Xbox ive looked into it and it seems doable but that could take a year to do. SPYDER42 yes for question #1 there are software that can be downloaded to change files into sega and snes BUT 1 exception is the system your switching too has to be more powerful EXAMPLE you cant switch N64 roms to sega gens emulator the cpu's would go nuts and it could permnently damage your comp/ps2 so make sure its going from like nes to sega or something weaker to something stronger (sega and SNES are nearly equal in strength so swapping them is ok (i think) but i cant tell you where or what program does this) your second question is no that would a 5 year expirence youd have to make every single game diffrent and the already somewhat blocky GFX would become even more blurry the lag is mostly caused from CD to CART data you must remember Snes and nes are from CART's with exceptional loading speed. as w/ a CD it takes longer. if its HDD your loading from thats simply cause a HDD is so huge it has to scan every section to make sure its loading in order. hope that awnsers your ?'s spyder42 and shaunny no offence or anything its just real hard work i could see a Xbox for ps3 but why why take time to do it when we got our computers.(im very happy with my computer so y risk messing up a ps2 or 3 evren for some silly Xbox games)if anyone has any problems or anything reply here i know alot about emulators ive ben doing it sience 98' peace out

Yes spyder i think if you type rom switcher in google or a search station it will work. but its very illegal beyond useing roms you don't own.>>>>>>GBA ROMS AT emuparadise.org has GBA's......but good luck finding a game u like. IDSA has been a BI**H about it lately they jsut look for roms on a list they have and make webmasters delete that specific game (witch are nearly every game GBA has to offer) other placed i think that had GBA roms from a few years back are Romhustler.net and rom-world.com.

I'm so farking glad this threads here.
I downloaded snes-station and let's just say it snes-sucks.
no it doesnt, but it is a little slow and the sound emulation is choppy, I wonder why no ones tried to make a port of znes?.
I just had my ps2 chipped today so I really really want to get lots of emulators going.
I have stacks of roms, if anyones interested in making a snes/n64/gb-c-a-whatever/ emulator and they need help with a graphic skin for it I'll donate my experttatateese.

i agree that someone should make a snes emulator for ps2 based on zsnes since it is (in my opinion) the best snes emulator

and fzombie you should go to

http://ps2emu.dcemu.co.uk/

they have quite a few emulator in progress there
