hello everyone! does anyone have any tips on how I should prepare a USB harddrive for SMS?
My harddrive just arrived a couple of days before the PS2 (slim) and I'd like to format it and fill it up with some files beforehand. Will a standard NTFS-format do?
//Edit: Just found out that it has to be in FAT/FAT32

Thanks a million, man.
Now I just need to go out and get an external HDD.
I have all of the tools, except the external HDD.
Anyone, where do recommend I buy one (by spending no more than $70?)
I saw one on Newegg that was 80GB for $65 (plus 7.61 for 3-day S&H)

i dont know if anyone is getting this problem but i boot the usb advance cd just like how i boot a ps1 disc but it gets stuck at the playstation logo screen without the logo.. any help would be fine..

hi this is working untill i try booting the disk ive burnt.
the disk boots up and my infinity v.1.91 starts the cd but after that the picture is just blacker than a horses ars.
i hear the disc spinning in normal rate but i get no picture ive done all the things you wrote and tried burning 5 other discs but i get no better result anyway.
is this just a joke because usb extreme released 1/4 ???

thanx for all your job it was great to learn some thing in ps2 with hdd any way i have a small qutition for and plz can you send answer on my mail..
i have don things to make my ps2 slim read hdd usb with ac power
i make download for image of usb advanc .cue
i burn on cd sony with Alcohol 120 and it work fine
now i can see inter face of usb advanc program on my tv screan
but still can't see my usb hdd what can i do for that my hdd was
format with ntfs .....so help me plz thanx and bye ..

Is there a way to get ISOs you have on your computer to work with this? Do I have to find out the ID and name it something strange? Or can't I do it?
EDIT: OK I have read the backing up from DVD to USB HDD works on copied DVDs as well but can't I do it without burning the game to a DVD first because whatever the file becomes (something like "gameid.00") someone said that it was the same as an ISO file only with a different extention, so is it possible for me to just rename it?

easy/fast way to get usb advance working with swapmagic:
Rename the usbadvance elf as SWAPMAGIC.ELF (all caps) and stick it in your memcard in the folder SWAPMAGIC (also all caps). It'll autoboot to it.
There's multiple ways to get to the memcard. I boot from a cdr with ExecFTP and then from my PC I transfer from an FTP program.

I will post Usb Advance Global War shortly, if it isnt against the rulles, I have noticed that this version of usb advanced does not give me problems when I try to load it from Ar max or with the launch elf cd. the only thing is i have only successfully load one game with it. And seriously attempted a second, havent tried a thrid game yet. but hopefully it will be of help

Just pop in your AR Max, Run Media Player, Select this elf file and it should load with no problem.
I successfully ran Naruto Ultimate Ninja- Downloaded ISO.
My backup cd i made of Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi 2 did not boot, but the Download PAL version of it ran, but I couldnt see it much I have a NTSC system. I hope someone can help me out with how to make backups for USB Advance to load, because this game is scrathed to infinity and beyond lol, barely runs, I tried the other methods of making backups but no prevail.
Note: I have a Fat PS2, external usb 3.5 HD, using a generic memory stick(did not come with Armax) and Armax Evo

hi you and i got simular problem my usb advance cd starts and after the boot of the logo (and in my case the "matrix infinity version") is shown the disk starts spinning faster and normaly thats when the games or whatever disk youve put in starts to play. ok, now nothing is happening the picture is black. yes! blacker then black itself. ive tryed waiting, rebooting, burning new discs, both cd and dvd to see if theres a differense but no better results, have you got this to work yet? -please tell me

Hi all,
i have been following al the steps to get the HDD activated,
i have formated the HD with winhiip en putted it in a HDD case with usb . now i have burned the CD with USB ADVANCED . and it boots ; dan there comes a red background and it says please put in a PS ONE OR PS TWO disc and when i open the DVDROM tray its rebooting , i have swapmagic 3.6 Plus any help please i have been trying for several weeks
P.S sorry for my poor english im belgian .

I have the same model and been trying to do the same for days but it was all for nothing after i found this.
IMPORTANT: HDAdvance is NOT compatible with the following Japanese PS2 models: SCPH 10000, SCPH 15000, SCPH 18000 and SCPH-7XXXX PSTwo slim series.
