Your clear answer would be that the game is probably not compatible with USbadvance.
You would have to swap the DNAS or IOPROP image to get the game too work, maybe.
Read Step #2 and #3 on how to change it.

It can be yes as long as the pen drive is compatible with the PS2.
You will just have to try it too see.

Your pen drive may not be compatible then.
You could try uLaunch on a DVD or CD and see then if it will recognize the pen drive.

Yes you can use the SMS player and watch videos from your usb drive.
Check 3.6 of this tutorial
http://sksapps.com/sms/en/
Official SMS forum here:http://www.ps2-scene.org/forums/official-sms-forums/
You may have to format your usb drive to FAT32

UsbXtreme uses FAT32 format also, it only mentions NTFS at first to initialize new drives to take advantage of full space.
So your ok with FAT32 for both programs.

Ok well the PS2 just can't recognize the usb device without some sort of software first.
So you would first need to install the exploit, and then have uLe 4.28 running.Ule tutorial is you need it.
http://sksapps.com/index.php?page=exploit_utility_tutorial.html
Then once uLe is running, you go to Filebrowser, choose /Mass and you will see the contents of your usb device.
Then click on the FREE_MCBOOT.ELF and the installer will start.
You need to put in the mc you wish to install on, then format, then click on Mult-Install and wait til it says complete.

i used this site: http://sksapps.com/index.php?page=exploit_utility_tutorial.html and got as far as burning a copy of the disc i needed, but it seems as if i still need some sort of swap disc. im not sure what im doing wrong. i made the disc to go with my ps1 game and i put the ps1 game in the ps2... it starts (ive tried various combinations of when to switch the ps1 disc to the burned disc) and when i switch the discs, it either says an incorrect ps2 format or it just freezes. maybe i have the wrong files on the disc or something else... help...?

Oh lord, "My Bad"
You have done everything correct as far.
Do you have a cheat disk of any sort? Gameshark, Xploder, Armax
Otherwise maybe contact one of those fellows at psx-scene, Dangwoot is good and he could install what you want to mc.

Your welcome. Sorry for making ya go through the steps, and realize you didn't have a cheat disk.
Seriously check out Dangwoot, he lives in the states and he only charges postage for your mc to him and back to you.
Thats pretty cheap to have your PS2 modded.
I have done a few also for some in Canada and a couple in the states.

How fast does USBadvanced run? I've heard it is slow due to the USB slot being 1.1. I was wondering if it was worth getting it to work or not. Being able to put my games (21 of them) in a box in exchange for one HD sounds really good.
I have a slim modded system. I found a place that sells fat systems (unmoded), and wondered if it would be a good idea to pick one up and have it modded with a HD. Just need to know what I'm working with.
We live in a world were stolen music is safer, pirated movies are cleaner, hack software runs faster and any attempt to be honest puts us in jail. Nice eh?

The UsbAdvance works fine, its just that not all games are compatible with it.
It will work on a USB drive for either a slim or FAT
Basically a guide here, and will also explain how to change DNAS or IOPRP images on games to get them to work.

Compatibility guide and USB utility

If your getting a FAT PS2, best to get a Network adaptor and IDE hdd, then use Winhiip 1.7.6 to transfer games.
It has a way higher compatibility rate than usb drive.

I'm hitting a problem, (And Google isn't helping... must be serious!)
I made the USB Advanced CD, using the File Here.
I formated my USB thumb drive using the included software.
I used the transfer software and put a copy of Fatal Frame 2 (It was good on the compatibility list.) on the thumb drive.
I think I set it all up right,
SYSTEM.CNF
BOOT2 = cdrom0:\USBADVN.ELF;1
VER = 1.00
VMODE = NTSC
DUMMY.BIN [F2A4518D] 5,242,881Kb
USBADVN.ELF [7CE4DCCB] 483,140Kb
First I insert the thumb drive. Then I put the USB advanced cd into the PS2 and turn it on. It hits the logo and then nothing but black screen. It's like it isn't booting past the logo.
My Chip is the Matrix Infinity 1.93, the CD was burned at the lowest speed possible. Nothing has been done with the chip bios, so that could be the problem. I just don't feel comfortable doing anything to the settings with out instructions. Mind you, my chip came with no instructions and what I've found on the internet is vague at best. I'm also wondering if I have to burn the files to a DVD instead of a CD, but figured I should ask before scrapping a DVD.
What am I doing wrong? (And I've heard about people putting USBadv on their memory cards so they don't even need the CD, how would I go about doing that?)
I admit, this is my first time doing something like this on a PS2, so please don't use weird terms. Assume any acronym will go right over my head. I'll try to utilize all possible paths before asking for help. I never could stand it when people don't try first. I assume others are like that as well.
We live in a world were stolen music is safer, pirated movies are cleaner, hack software runs faster and any attempt to be honest puts us in jail. Nice eh?
