Yeah, I agree.

I think this thread is about to die. There are to many strong points of view here.

This is off the subject a bit but I?ve shut up about that. Metallica/Napster were mentioned earlier on. Did everyone see the Camp Chaos Entertainment cartoon at the time of the Napster/Metallica kerfuffle? Very funny. If you haven?t seen it you can download it here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bonton/napster_bad.exe. It?s Flash and less than a MB.

you know what I think is funny though. I download and burn music off of Kazaa, mainly new and rising rap artists and all my friends have money so , they get in my vehicle, listen to it on a 12,000 dollar sound system love it and buy the shit for 20 bucks. I think I need to make these millions the record execs are making for my advertising. I mean yea, I may steal a copy of a cd off the net, but in return my buddies buy 3 or 4 copies of the music they wouldn't have unless I let them listen to it. So, I'm not hurting anyone, I'm actually making them money.

The RIAA would prefer everybody pays for music whether the music sucks or not, they would also prefer you dont hear it before you buy it because then you might not buy it if its crap!

Jiggaman, i feel kinda sorry for you. You felt the NEED to spend $12000 on a car hifi system. I bet it sounds no better than £2500 system my dad has in his new 7 BMW or not much better than the £900 system i have in my wee ford fiesta. You must have money to burn.

No, I don't have money to burn, I just go to car audio shows, also I didn't pay 12000 for the stereo it would have cost that much but my buddies own a stereo shop so I got it all at cost. Did you know they mark up car audio stuff %400. Thats as much as jewely so I spent maybee 3000 for the whole setup, but I love it and it rocks. I also install car audio and multimedia in vehicles so feel free to pm me if you need some advice

Cheers

yea, I have a 1992 GMC 4x4 it is lifted 6 inches and has just a little motor work. It's not fast or anything, but it does play nice in the mud. It's a regular cab, but I have 2 Kicker 10's, one Memphis twelve, kicker 600 watt amp running the 10's and the another on the twelve. Eclipse screen and sirius satelite radio on a seperate kenwood receiver. But I did have a 1994 Cadillac Seville STS. It had the same screen and a cd changer I built into the glovebox, a PS2 under the dash2 rockford fosgate punch HX2's and one Punch HX 10. I built the box into the trunk so it was ported into the cab of the car. It was really neat. I had a lot of fun on that install. So feel free to pm me anytime you need something. I love car audio a lot more than computers, I think cause i understand cars, i can't understand computers. I think cause the computer is smarter, I don't know, haha.

you know it really has nothing to do with it, but I thoought I would maybe get to know someoen on here and be nice about something. Most of the people I have talked to on here are real dicks. You should try being nice about something, then maybe people might not be so afraid to ask you a question on here without fear of getting their ass jumped. From what I've seen these so called helpful people on here haven't helped me one bit. Yoou guys are all cocksuckers.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but not only is this a site for discussion about video, audio and related PC topics, but it also follows some fairly informal rules.

As you seem to want to insult people here, perhaps you should just stop visiting. You are not needed.

I understand your position, but I am frustrated. I have been visiting this site now for a little over a month, and I just now got someone to help me back up a DVD, but I would really like to know how to convert files, shrink files and burn files all at the same place and not have to go to like five different threads to find it out. I understand that the questions I ask have probably been asked by more people than I can imagine, but I have been through almost all the threads on here and still have no idea how to put a downloaded movie on a disk. I am sorry for anyone I have been rude to or abusive and especially herbsman. I know you guys try your best to help, but what would these forums be without us newbies. I mean if people like mysself didn't ask these questions then there would be a bunch of people with nothing to talk about cause they would already know how to do it all. I just want to learn how and have fun. i mean it's not like I was born with a working knowledge of a computer. I just know basics and maybe a little more I need guidance and I figured this was a place to go to get that guidance. I went through your guides and there isn't one that says anything about what I need to know. That is the only reason I ask. I'm not dumb and I have looked but can't find it and i don't need someone to hold my hand I just need someoen to tell me how. Once again I'm sorry to all.

Paranoia has kicked in everyone.
I did a buy, burn return (bbr) on Empire Earth a year and a half ago and kept using the serial for multiplayer. That serial has since been disconnected by sierra. Dickhead me gave my legit details when returning the software without even thinking about it. I heard that they are craking down hard on people that do this (busting them for fraud and stealing). I have even reached the point where I am contemplating repurchasing the game and writing a letter to sierra apologising. However my reasons for purchasing were legit. I already had one copy and in order to play online networked with my partner I needed the other. What should do. It took them a year to disconnect the serial. They obviously know how many times I have used it with the serial, and they know who I am. Am I a small fry or will they come after me know matter what.

Jiggaman, thank you for explaining your frustration. It is important that the more experienced users do not feel that there advice is being thrown back in their face, clearly they will not feel good about giving it again! Of course newbies are important to us, but all users are important. As technology is constantly changing, it is important to keep up, so none of us 'know it all'!

Whilst I understand your reasons and we accept the apology, you must not swear ot personally insult any of our members again. We want you to learn and develop and one day you will be helping others, like Herbsman, Oriphus and Dela (names off the top of my head!)

Check our guides section as well.

Paul.

PS : Might be an idea to PM Herbsman ;-)

Echo:

Your post is not only way off topic, but you are also admitting to a criminal activity, whilst participating in a thread on a website that does not endorse piracy.

May I suggest you rethink the wording of your post and find an appropriate place to ask the question?

Piledrive : Why don't you come back and discuss this topic again, it was an interesting argument and the thread is back on topic.

Paul.

*sigh* more slaps at afterdawn users! Ah well what's new.

I'm still waiting here for somebody from the other side of the argument to step in and give more opinions and slam my opinions etc etc...

The problem is, the people on the other side of the argument are few and most too scared to let known their opinions!

Sorry for the changed name. I thought I was cancelling the newsletter but I actually cancelled everything and I?ve had to re-register.

Right then, if we?re going to continue with this. In the first place I didn?t say Dela or theos or any individual other than myself were thieves. I said this is the way I behave and I believe that that behaviour makes me, and anyone behaving like me, a thief. It?s not the same thing. I also said ?I apologise profusely to those very few of you to whom this doesn?t apply?. But for me and the vast majority of the rest of you as Bob Marley said ?who the cap fits, let them wear it?.

Good on you jiggaman for saying ?I mean yea, I may steal a copy of a cd off the net?. I?m not the only one prepared to accurately describe what I?m doing. I find it a bit strange and quite surprising that I?m the only one who doesn?t feel a need to justify it. Even jiggaman does that.

I?m making no moral judgements. Thief is just a label, as is pirate. I think thief is a bit more accurate and really I?m just saying ?call a spade a spade?. Bob Dylan said ?in order to live outside the law you must be honest? but you guys seem to be intent on proving him wrong.

Re what gets shared, everybody reading this thread is involved in peer to peer file sharing and they all know what is being shared. Copyrighted material. I?ve probably browsed a thousand or more other users files on WinMX over the years and that is almost entirely what they are sharing. Except for the leeches and the less said about them the better. It?s certainly what I?m sharing and what is being downloaded from me. To claim anything else is in direct contradiction with the experience of, I believe, anyone who has used peer to peer software.
My 99% copyright material and only 1% non copyright stuff wasn?t meant to be taken literally. I should really have said ?The small amount that isn?t makes no difference? instead of ?The 1% that isn't makes no difference?. I forgot how literal many Americans tend to be. My point still stands. And I?m not about to refer you to any collection of anyone?s bullshit statistics because it?s not necessary. We all know what is being shared, from experience.

If we want Piledrive back in this discussion, and I certainly do, we need to give him less of a hard time. We?re all anonymous so why should Piledrive have to reveal his real identity to make his point? That just isn?t a reasonable demand and to claim he?s lost the argument because he won?t do that is completely ridiculous and pretty much makes it impossible for him to continue.

Gluon, there is little that can be said to you anymore. You admit to Piracy and then judge others for doing it.

Have you ever bothered to look up the definition of Hypocrite?

The point I was making about the one percent was more than obvious, you are leading people with information that appears to be fact, but is really nothing more than your opinion. Asking you to show a link to the place where you got this 1% info was to show others here that you are full of s_ _t.
You make constant statements about you stealing copyrighted material, and from what I understand you are breaking the rules of this fourm.

I do NOT steal software & I am NOT a software pirate. I buy my software, in the box, from a store. Yet you are sooooooooo convinced that ALL P2P users are downloading the same things you are downloading. NOT TRUE.

Also, gluon. You could get into a great deal of trouble for all the software you download. Some hackers/crackers have even went to jail.

I judge no one. I can't really, can I? Not from my position. But I think you just might be taking this stuff too seriously. I?m enjoying myself. You should be to and if you?re not you shouldn?t be playing. OK.
Oh, and I don?t think loaded's ?bare faced hypocrisy? comment was aimed at me or my side of the argument. Read it again. I'm not claiming to be something I'm not.
What do you use peer to peer for??? It's still a mystery to me.
Re your other comments I believe that general statements such as those I have made are acceptable. Admitting particular and specific actions would break the forum rules, see Eckostorm above. If I'm wrong the forum moderator will correct me. He doesn't need your assistance and I don't need your advice.

Everybody

Look, Piledrive?s case makes it nice and simple because he has made his feelings very clear.
It?s his music, he created it and it has to be his call as to what happens to it. If he decides to give it away that?s OK, it?s his decision to make. If he decides that you can?t have it without paying for it that?s also OK because that?s also his decision to make. And only his decision, you guys just don?t have any say in the matter. He has decided you have to pay for it. End of argument. It?s his music for Christ?s sake. It?s as simple and black and white as that.
Whether or not Piledrive?s music is any good, whatever that might mean, doesn?t make any difference. Neither do any of the generally poorly thought through justifications you pirates come up with. Whether he?s really Kylie Minogue, Marilyn Manson or S Club Juniors doesn?t matter. It?s still his music and his call and not yours or mine.
