It's all on page 3 of this thread.

Txs Garmoon -I'll give AnyDVD and Recode a go.
I have not checked my backup yet; but this is the 'pause' that I made mention of. Evidently there is a load time lag as well.
Some assembly required.

This sounds like a bad cell at the beginning of the movie. I won't get this one till Friday. Try removing a few frames using DVD Shrink in the reauthor mode or use PgcEdit to delete this cell.

Didn't have any issues with my backup copy. No latent load time, no pauses, etc.
Huh. I still have all the files on my pc, i'll have to check into them a little later on.

Yep me and garmoon had a pause/lag time in the dvd player.
I did menu + movie - not sure what garmoon did.
I always have AnyDVD set to jump to main menu and remove annoying adverts.
The one thing we had in common was we used CloneDVD.
I used those files w/ vobblanker and FixVTS.
At some point today I'll r-erip w/ DVDfab, AnyDVD or maybe both :)

There are a few cells after the main movie which DVDDecrypter with AnyDVD couldn't open up when I tried to rip the entire disk, could this be the problem which causes the pause?

You can view all the cells with PgcEdit and determine which ones to remove. No ripping software is perfect although some claim to have a perfect backup.

Maybe - actually my pause is like a minute before the menu comes up.
Just ripped w/ DVDFab on one and ripping w/ AnyDVD now on another.
The joys of r/w discs and working from home :D

First I ripped SV with AnyDVD6518's ripper to files on HDD. Then I opened same files in cloneDVD and just checked the main movie+keep menus, and got a copy that plays (AnyDVD is set to play movie when disc is inserted)but has a delay at the beginning of at least 30secs. The disc loads and play seems to begin and screen goes black as chapter letters on player change in random up and down order then the menu comes up-select play and it starts. Does this on two different players. Since I didn't like outcome, I opened the same files in Nero 8 Ultra Recode and chose same movie only and there are no menus options for recode. The programs runs and there are no issues- movie starts after it's read, and plays from gitgo.
Edit: There is no delay in PowerDVD on PC: menu comes up right away and plays right away when play is selected.
What I am surmising, is that anyDVD6518 is leaving something in the menu section that is confusing cloneDVD and thus the players and delaying the start. Since Recode doesn not use menus with movie only, it plays normally. AnyDVD6519 must fix this problem, and I'm gonna try it now and post back later to see if same problem arises..

Your software probably does what DVDFab does. Fab replaces some VOB's with blank ones. The standalone tries to read these blank files. If each one takes a second or two and you have many of them, it adds up to what seems like a long pause.

Same here - never had one this long and I pretty much use AnyDVD & CloneDVD all the time.
But that sounds right to me - you can hear the dvd player (Sony) trying to read it. AnyDVD usually does a decent job but not on this one imho.
Well garmoon I guess we got our challenge somewhat :)

Hi,
the delay you are all talking about sounds like an additional file (intentional) left at the beginning of the movie or in the menu directory. By backing up to the HDD first and then using vob blanker to blank out this file might solve the delay problem.
Just my 2 cents,
Jo

@Binkie et. al.
And AnyDVD 6519Beta does NOT fix the problem when using CloneDVD. Same 30 second delay and Binkie's right about the player reading sector. i may have to waste another disc to see if it does it with menus disabled in clone. And the is answer is?????

It's something w/ CloneDVD & the menu on this I think garmoon.
Ripping w/ AnyDVD then using Shrink (full) it's fine. Ripping w/ DVDFab and using CloneDVD - same deal - lag in bringing up the menu.
I can do it garmoon (movie only in Clone) - I'll just use a rw so you don't have to waste a disc :) Though I think ZoSoIV did it this way.

Yeah I just burned same files in CloneDVD WITHOUT keep menus checked and the dvd plays like it supposed to-NO delay, movie starts, as I have it set. No doubt it's the menus that CloneDVD is having problems with on the discs we have.
Are you lurking Slysoft?

Nope haven't lurked Slysoft site today. Anything there about it? May not be since it plays.
Well I guess there is always a first - CloneDVD fails us on this one :)

I am really struggling to back up my Saw V. I know this will probably be simple copared to many fo you in this forum, but here goes:
I used DVD fab 5.2.2.2: Keep getting a read error
I used DVddecrypter -- crashed on some files
I used DDDdecrypter with DVD4Free -- crashed on the same files.
Anyone have any advice?
I appreciate your time and help.
P.S. I remember having a piece of software that went step by step in opening dvd decrypter, when done creating a psl file, importing the psl file, and then reripping. It wasn't ripit4me. It was something else. That seemed to work when I had a read problem. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

That would be PgcEdit with the PSL plugin and FixVTS.

You're behind on your Fab updates, check for the latest. Read in this thread about using Fab. It is working when up to date. Rip SV to HDD with Fab and then use the program you normally use to do disc. Beware there are conflicts in the menu files. If you can stand not having the menus doing movie only should work.
Have no idea what program you are referring to with decrypter other than ripit4me.

lol - yep - so true. I'm a case in point :)
I'm not much of a lurker anywhere - scanner at best but I did take a peek at Slysoft and CD Freaks. So far it's looking it's just you and me garmoon having this problem with Clone & the menu.
