Well yeah i guess it does depend. One thing is it wont be able to burn.
The ability to install an os will give it the advantage of eventually having software to eventually rip movies and music to the hdd and convert video files

Consoles are phenomenal gaming systems but they can't match PC's for versatility, burning being just one among many. I imagine as long as folks want to use backups and "aquired" games a PC will always be needed in some way to do that :)

Quote: I didn't really take to the eyetoy
It was quite popular in the way it made you work in a video compared to just moving your thumbs and fingers around.
Not quite sure if this is Ps3 Eye Toy footage but it's pretty neat if anything.

How would that work with the controler already having motion sensing. Too much sensors doesn't make sense

I never used Eye Toy that much but I don't think you use the controller that much or at all in the games do you?

MS is the only company to not have add-ons so I think we should see some new things coming from MS this generation. Something different though, not an eye toy or a motion sensor controller. I can't think of anymore ideas of what they could make that would be new and exclusive to MS though.

are you sure sully 2u, ms have talked and showed off the camera that is coming out for xbxo 360 and thenthere is the HD-DVD add on that they have talked about. i dont realy like the idea of adding things to a console anyhows, i have been burned before with the mega cd. that sucked bad.
also i heard that the wii's controller has a rumble feature and that doesnt interfere with the motion sending and ontop of that, the wii's controller also has a built in speaker. people at e3 said that when playing zelda the speaker was used so that you could here links bow tightening up as you pulle dthe wii controller back. good idea, not sure itl be used to often tho

Quote: Thats just nintendos way. I have all of their consoles from the NES up and they all have an expantion slot at the bottom. Why?? it's hardly ever used and in the case of GC it has three i know one's for the modem but the others? Remember the infra red port on the game boy colour i think i played only one game that did any thing with it.
For the GC, the expansion ports are for as follows: the modem, and the gameboy player, which requires you to removed two of the covers on the bottom for it to fit. And if SNES ever had its failed CD add on, it would have been for their expansion port.
I cover my bases...
1)Xbox w/xecuter 2.6 solderless
2)Ps2 (slim) w/DMS4 Lite
3)Ps2 V7 w/DMS4 Lite and 200 Gig Maxtor HDD
4)GC w/qoob pro

yeah remember 32x for genesis.I like the fact ps3 will have bluray right out of the box although many say they don't want it.I would rather have it than add it.And in 2 yrs it will save me money not having to get bluray.

well by bundling everything with the ps3 you are saving money, but with the x360 you can buy everything seperatly if u choose but it will be more expensive, but ms still gives u the choice

guide button? what do you mean? you mean the home button? we've settled that argumant
long ago. if keep wanting to belive ms is this superpower of originality, look at the psp. it
has a home button and was long in development before the x360. what was the first console
with an internet service? not xbox. i belive the was the genesis, and if u dont count "sega
channel" then it was the n64. plus computers have had it for the longest. i belive there were
over-the-internet text based games.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

oh hell nah...anubis you remember sega channel? I had that sh!t, it rocked because you didn't have to buy or rent games.
By the way anubis is right. The guide button has been around for decades.Next time you pick up your remote for your tv look closer. :0

i had it too, i remember playing the garfield game and also many others like one where ur bugs bunny doing levels running from elmer. goodtimes..good times.. sega channel was just too late in the genesis' life for it to kick off like it should have.
and yes it has, but console wise is what we are talking about. my tv remote doesnt play games incase you didnt know that :)

yeah I remember genesis being like almost dead by the time it came out.
lol yeah I know it doesn't play games but his quote was

So all game consoles copied it(the button) from tv remotes. And sony has a huge tv share.Same with web tv and media center pc's.

So essentially nothing of the new consoles is innovative???HDMI has been around for a while, internet gaming has been around for a while, motion sensor smae there, guide button same there,Blu-ray format is dvd on steroids and to say thats innovation or "new" is to say that graphics are"new" and innovative in the new systems which i dont think many people consider as an innovative idea. My point is granted these ideas have been around and are progressed forward from but their is a lot of bashing between these companies so when they "borrow" an idea from their rival it is something to speak of considering all the do is degrade eachothers ideas and quality.
Excuse the grammar and punctuation but my point was made and should be clear

everything has been around. the human spiecies has been around too long and is too populated to do anything orginal anymore. everything is taken from something else, then modified. u can say the first console was original, but then again the base idea is to "entertain". we've tried anything to entertain ourselves, this is not new. the internet was new and orginal, and internet gaming started. then it was brought and modified to consoles. ms saying they are the first is downright stupid. this is innovation.
it seems you have a bad idea of what innovation really means. here is the deffinition. "An Introduction of a new idea into the marketplace in the form of a new product or service or an improvement in organization or process." and that is exatly whats happening. u said bluray is dvd on steriods, but really its just the idea of optical media being improved. you also say how other thing like motion sensing is not innovative. its the idea of being immersed into the game progressing.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

Aunbis motion sensors have been involved in gaming or available for over 8 years so it is you missing what is being said. How is that innovative, yes being immersed in gaming is good but this form speaking of motion sensing is not new.
