I don't know why but, I had a feeling it might have been a underscore rather that a dash so I added both to the file. so you should be good to go. yes, if you get a Max Drive you will be able to use the programs on the save using your PS1 disk. :)

Hey bizzle you aren't without luck man, before we made these max drive saves I was looking all over for something to use the exploit with, so here is a place that has sharkport saves and a save editor so you can load your own programs and make them into sharkport save files :)

http://www.ps2savetools.com/

and a link straight to the sharkport files and such.
http://www.ps2savetools.com/download.php?op=viewdownload&cid=7

They also worked on making the savebuilder tool support .max files, and they did it! but they had to delay it's release for other reasons. check out the site it's really cool what they did there.

if you read what I had typed here eariler nevermind my little rant...

did you uncrush the .max file?, if you did then check the id# again, as it should just load up the exploit if the id# is ok.

well it seems that not all psx games will trigger the exploit on every ps2, you might have found one that just don't work with your version of ps2 or the game title is mistaken and not in the list, or you might have not loaded the PAL version and got the NTSC one instead, there are always alot of mistakes that can happen, but if you seriously did get all the stuff properly, then it must just be one of those games that don't work on it....

well at least you got your HDloader.

hey guys I am in the proccess of trying to load elf files onto the boot area of the PS2 HDD while it's pluged into my pc, currently the only way is to move the files in RAW sector format, kinda copy it blindly..but once I do that, and I have the Pc-ps2 link programs loaded, I can make any customized exploit with out the need to burn any cds :)

Yumm bootfile updates.

http://www.ps2nfo.com/

" Today we decided to release a tiny (14.2KB) custom BOOT.ELF
allowing end-users to run HD Advance directly from their Memory Card!
No longer are unnecessary files such as 'PS2Menu' required on the MC,
and triggering the Independence Exploit with any original PSX disc will
bring up the game selection menu automatically. Lastly, our BOOT.ELF
file auto-checks the PS2 BiOS, and loads the HD Advance ELF from
either BEDATA-SYSTEM, BADATA-SYSTEM, or BIDATA-SYSTEM as
necessary. ;)

SInce they have the files for hd advace working do you think it would be possible for someone here to update the website with this save for the max drive? That would really save a lot of people a lot of time. On a side note, how great will it be to have entire backups at your disposal in the near future?

it is possible, and maybe we will do it, but the problem is disc id's, the NTSC version has tons of id's, but the PAL version only has about 190, there's really no point in making another .max save without more id's 'cause people will keep requesting for their id's to be added after the saves have been made.

so the answer is, I expect an NTSC .max save will come soon, but the PAL version depends on id's being posted here

I've just finished updating the web site. There are no additional titles added to any files, I havn't got any requests since last update. ALL files are brand new with the same title id's as the first batch. I've changed the files to use MrSiir's new KeyLauncher menu, very user friendly and looks nice :), also I've added the most recent versions of the execftp and some other programs some have been asking for.

You may want to backup your old saves just incase you dont like the new stuff :)

Enjoy!!

I dont know if this is a personal problem or not, but everytime I try to load a program with the new iterface, it gets past the loading screen and then goes to the inital screen of the program and then freezes. Has anyone else had this problem?

hehehe. Bizzle i know what your talking about. i havent tried the knew exploits Avitus made, but some of the programs he added may not work. keylauncher is still in its buggy stage. avitus may need to use ps2packer for some programs to work i.e mediaplayer and ps2menu-k v.31. while other programs may not work completely.
btw Avitus have you checked out http://ps2dev.org/files/ps2xme090b.zip there is a max drive save with 600 us psx ids and 200 eu psx ids. if you uncrash it on your memorycard then upload the title via ftp or whatever methord, you can save alot of cds. i dont know how they did it but they managed the get 600 ids on 1 title. ff9 isnt there sadly, but the remaining games should fit 1 title. thus that would make two titles so two cds, instead of 5.

i still dont know how to get the ps2 to pc appz workings, or i would of gadly uploaded the title for ya. ya think you could make a quick tutorial for future use.
keep up the good work...

I've just finished testing of files 1,3,&5. I downloaded them from web site, uncrushed them to mem card and they all work fine for me, I tested all programs included, they all start up. I did notice that the 2 loaders did take some extra time to load, they hang at the splash screen for about 15-30 seconds, but they worked normal after start-up.

Thanks me_dont, I'll look into that file, I've got it down to only using one CD for all the exploit saves anyway :) It took me some time to get the ftp programs to work also, Faplink is pretty easy just read the readme. That execftp I haven't used yet really, I got it to connect to the PS2, but haven't messed with it after that.

What does the DMS HDD Format Tool do?
Does it allow the PS2 to recognize the HDD?

Taken from the readme file included with HDD Format:
Quote:
The DMS HDD format tool is a utility which provides a means to format and
manage filesystems present on your PS2 HDD. You can create a new filesystem
for storing anything you wish - for example movies, mp3, roms. You can
remove a filesystem which is no longer needed to free up space on the HDD.
You can also expand the size of a filesystem if it has run out of space, and
you can rename an existing filesystem.
It won't let the PS2 see the hard drive in the PS2 browser screen with your memory cards, if thats what you mean, the only thing that I know of that can do that is the actual utility disk that comes with the Sony 40gig drive.

Okay thanks. I'm interested in using it for MP#s and videos. If I use it, will it format the drive? Meaning that it will erase all the games I have on the HD?

No, as long as you dont use the format command, by holding down L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 when the format tool is at the loading screen, It shouldn't format your disk
