Everyone here in this thread has had the same problem, it appears the when you try to backup games that are over 4GB you get what you have here. So far I have seen it happen to Starwars battlefront and Devil May Cry 2. You must use Andrews Metohd(Earlier in this thread) which allows you to take and ISO image of the DVD, break it down and recompile it which results in an image file about half the size of the origional which in turn allows the game to run smoother.

Now the prog works. When i click on record two error messages appear and i click ok. After its done i have 3 files on the hard drive. Defjam.000, defjam .001, defjam .002,
000 and 001 are exactly the same size, 1.048,528 kb and 003 is 667 kb.
What should i do?? Should i just combine the 000 and 002 or should i just combine all of them?? if so how??

Ok just finished making the new madden iso and i did it correctly i made the new iso in DOS copying all 4 files into the new iso, and it came out the same exact size as the original "3.37gb" i thought this was supposed to lower the size? I duno if i should burn or not, prolly gonna be no different than the very first backup i made.

i combined allt the files and IT WORKS. Def jam downloads even faster than the orginal one and the music doesn't skip at all. I was 4.6 gigs but now its only 2.6 gigs, what a difference.

Ok all i can think of i did diferent is, after i extracted with isobuster, i dind't place the files in cdvdgen as the same order as when i located the game image with isobuster. If you don't palce the files order in cdvdgen as they were in isobuster will that make it so the iso wont be smaller and stay same size like mine?

I don't have an explanation as to why rebuilding the iso shrinks the game down, but it appears that it only affects games above 4.25 gigs. A game with a smaller TOC such as DDR Max makes no difference.
As far as the HDD loading, the system.cnf file is originally set to boot up a file which contains a disc check command. This is why you can put the game on the HDD and it will work if you leave the game in the tray, because it will begin to read from the disc instead of the HDD files. Changing the system.cnf file to read the SWBFRONT.elf instead will bypass that disc check.
I'm pretty sure that any game that has difficulty loading from the HDD most likely has one of these checks, though I've learned that some games like Viewtiful Joe will freeze because it tries to read from a file which contains a different type of command that tries to access some video files from the dvd via streaming... and it will only look for these from the dvd. So you've gotta find that file and edit it using a hex editor... and then rebuild. I don't have the specifics, you'd have to google it yourself.

just wanna say that it works with mortal kombat deception too.
I used with a lot of games already, and still got no problems at all. thks very much for this method! :] As i use it, i´l be posting the games that i had succes and others that don´t. ;]
Oh! and about the dvd shrinking, i think that when you rebuild the iso you got the real size of the game. There must be some type of dummy files that makes the game bigger. Don´t think that it really shrinks something.
see ya. ;]

sorry, i'm using HD Advance to convert the game to the HDD. I can do it without the conversion form DvD9, but it wont run, and i followed the steps provided in the posting, but the disc wouldnt read either... does the type of DVD media matter? does it have to be DVD -R or +R?
all help would be appreciated...
