Quote: has anybody get it to work for Hd loader???
If not I will but i dont have a mod chip. So what i was thinking is to transfer the game trough hd handiness. But idk if the game has to be in a ISO file or just in a folder with all the files.
Oh how can I patch the game to be able to play online??
Pd: I dont have a dvd burner neaither a mod chip. All I have is a usb Flash drives, which i used to fo the memory card exploit.
I rebuild it using the great instructions provided in this thread, I then was able to put the rebuilt dvd on HD Loader directly.... Works great !! No Mod-chipped V9 PS2.... So if you make the ISO, it should work if use WinHIIP 1.6.3 instead of PS2 Handiness to put it on your PS2-HDD.... Mode 3 was needed also....

although i have been backing up my games for some time now,this is the first time i have tried rebuilding one. i used andrews method to the letter,to rebuild battlefront,and did end up with the image 'star.iso',however i just couldnt get it to work.i tried several times using varios burn engines,but no luck!
when we were supposed to end up with the two files star.000 and star.001,i also had star.002. is this normal? any ideas on this would be appreciated.

Hey guys, I've burned this game without any difficulties the first time using dvd decryptor. After you make an iso image are you burning at 1x? The only problems i've ever had making backups was that i was not burning at 1x. I also use tdk dvd-r 4x discs and have not had any problems.

In response to Andrew's post.
An example of a game you would need to change the LBA is Sonic Heroes. There is a great board here explaining exactlly how to do it.
But I have tested several games using this method with mixed success. Best advice either use trail and error and end up with some coasters or just keeping searching the forums until a tried and true method is posted.
Just my two cents

I can't get it to work. I extracted the iso from the dvd. Then i remake the iso with WinISO, then i used winhiip to put it in the hdd. I tried to load the game but it didn't work. i tried modes 1,2,3,1&3 and nothing happens. Does the order of the files matter?

finally managed get the rebuilt star wars game working. however,cdvdgen gave me three bin files,not two (ie.star.000,star.001 and star.002) which ALL needed merging into the one final iso. image. has anyone else had this? also,after rebuilding tiger woods 2005(ntsc) the resulting iso. image is exactly the same size as the original- is this how it should be? nb:this time 5 bin files were created! any ideas people?
ps:very helpful thread,thanx.

This method did work with Def Jam FFNY. In that case it gave me three files that had to be merged to one iso file. On a side note it didnt work for devil may cry.

Actually I got it to work for "Devil may cry 2" just the other day. When i First made a backup the opening sceens were slow and the music was skipping just like starswars battlefront. Then i used that method for both discs, it worked great. I also tried to do Silect hill today but it failed. I got 4 files from cddvdgen I put them all together but when i tried to play it the PS2 logo came up then it froze ona blank screen.

Maybe we should start a "works with this method" thread. This would be good for hard drive games.

I backed up Lord of the Rings return of the king using the most recent version of Nero it worked fine. It seems the only games I have trouble with are games over 4GB. Every time I back up a game that is over this size with Nero it works but is very slow and skipps alot. I would say the rule of thumb is games that are around 4GB or so, use andrew's method to back it up. All the smaller games use Nero or some other burning software.

I backed it up using Nero also but it still froze, skipped, etc. Maybe i'll try using cd/dvd gen on it.

Yahoo!!!!!
Thanks andrew and dan1929 It worked like a charm.I also was able to load it to my hdd by making a few simple changes.I first followed Dan1929's instructions a few posts back then after step 2 I opened notepad>file>open> directed it to where I had saved the Isobuster made files>changed the dropdown menu that says "text files" to "all files">clicked on the system icon within my saved folder>click open.You should at this point see something like this opened in notepad:
BOOT2 = cdrom0:\Slus_xxxx;1
VER = 1.02
VMODE = ntsc
Change it to read
BOOT2 = cdrom0:\SWBFRONT.ELF;1
VER = 1.02
VMODE = ntsc
Click the save icon in the toolbar for notepad>close everything and proceed with step 3 and the rest of Dan1929's instructions.Once you have burned your backup use hdadvance in your ps2 choose convert and load your backup to your hdd.once finished on your hdd you will need to press select on your controller before you hit "run" and enable modes 1,2 and 3
I tried out every level and all the sounds,options,graphics work great.Tried single player and splitscreen and no problems.Hope this helps someone as much as andrew and Dan1929 have helped me....see ya,nemesiskm
