That is a good point, but pretty irrelevant to Sony considering the majority of gamers fall in the 18-30 year old catagory.
I found it a little surprising myself, but hey, my uncle is 35 and an avid PC gamer.
Me and my brother, hell, everyone i know is in that category, and every relative or friend or friends kid i know that is younger than that, isn't into gaming as th erest of us. Strange, that study sure holds true where I live.
Everyoen thinks kids when they think games, but the market is playe dout by middle aged gamers. Thus all the Madden NFL and the M and AO games.

You're right but this is excluding the fact that they play casual games like MMORPGs or Tetris or something. Plus according to those studies there are more girls over 18 that play games so kiddy, cute games are important too.

experts say that it will be sold for 400 - 500 dollars and sony will lose 400 million bucks on the deal each year for 5 - 6 years to come...i think it was because of the blue - ray disc's.

Its going to be 499-599, and with tax it will be around (here in Canada tax is 15%) $573.85-688.85

I think that we've discussed that the ps3 will most likely to be 400-500$.
Sony CEO even hinted it.
Dont say it will. That really disturbs me, you say it will but you have no evidence. Just wait untill Sony CEO conferms it sometime in Jan.

OK, why all the b*tching & whining about the price!? It has a Blu-Ray DVD player included in that price. Is the DVD player itself not worth about $400+? Remember when DVD players came out, along came the PS2 later on & its price was still in the range of low to mid-ranged DVD players. So we all got a DVD player & videogame system for the price of the DVD player itself.

Exactly, I suggest to everyone who asks me, friends and family, to just buy a PS3 as next-gen movie player. Dual HDMI out, a hard drive an dLinux OS, you can't lose.

Very true. Why bother buying a Bluray player when you can get the PS3 which can do the same things AND play games. Not to mention all the extra things it can do.

Ps3 also has a GPU that is better then the #1pc GPU on the market, which is 700$ canadian. While all of ps3 is going to hit arround 399-500$. How can anyone 8I^|^ch at that?

One thing that is very important is Inflation. the Origional Atari Video Computer System costed $249 when it was released in 1977 that would = in money today $808.00. So when you are saying that the PS3 cost way to much just think of how much the Atari cost and you should be happy that you only have to pay $399-$599 for what you are getting

When it really boils down, the majority of people complaining about the PS3's price, are just Xbox 360 fans who are buyin gthat anyway. They have no intention of buying the PS3, and want to persuade you to buy their favorite system, Nintendo or Xbox.

Or they're sort of like me who $500 is a lot. Plus converted to my local currency is like $700-$800. That money doesn't come easy which is why I'm gonna wait a while to let the price drop down. Hoping for a big drop for Christmas season.

Well if ps3 drops at say $500 US that would be $32500 JMD (Jamaican), I dont care I'm still taking a trip to the good ol' US of A in time for launch to pick up mine just like I did for ps2. You see when truly great things come alone it makes no sence to pass it buy. The GPU alone is worth atleast $1000 US, not to mention one of the first BRD player on the market for less than $500 US. Yow thats a deal if i ever saw one. There are so many reasons to get it beyond the games (which are gonna be eye-poping). I expect a $500 US price tag and to trust me it'll be worth far far more than whatever price it's released at.

You can expect that at worstm but $399.99 core will most likly be the end result, and they might have a higher end package with accessories like Xbox did.
If you want a PS3 on launch, make sure your there camping outside Best Buy a day full day or more. We'll have to see what happens up here, but I sood in line for 17 hours for Xbox 360 and I was 13th out of 40 Premium packages. I probably could have done it for 15 hours and still got a premium.
In short- PS3 is goign to be worse, much stronger fanbase, especially the type of fans that would camp to get one.
Me I camped so that I coudl sell (I had my bro with me inline so we coudl get two) the extra 360 for $1000 on Ebay for xmas time.
I basically did 17 hours of screwing around outside a best buy for $600= $35 an hour, score...

Let's start with a few facts
- Two many people claim to have worked for MS or Sony on these projects. Any respectable Senoir Programmar, System Analyst, etc would not kiss and tell considerign it could cost them everything, their life in a lawsuit and hey woudl never work in the field again. THAT IS BESIDES THE POINT THAT 1000's OF TEN YEAR OLD "WORK" FOR SONY AND MICROSOFT.
- This site is an Xbox site
- The author has no journalistic credentials or sources.
With that said
- This person says that the PS3 GPU ha sbeen tested against the 360's..... wtf, i don't think so
- This person says SPU and PPA (or something stupid), they are SPEs (Sorry, but it's not a marketing, it differs just enough from DSPs), and PPE.
- The cell is becoming a workstation standard in enough fields where programming knowlege is a must for an experience computer scientist. Programming for the cell will be a learn and then go like it was x86 deal. The learning part is being exploited by XBox fanboys
- Sony's platforms are difficult to write for if you look at them like x86- LEARN, READ A BOOK, TRAINING, just like they did to learn how to prgram specifically for x86 or IBM hardware.
