I use DVD Decrypter for ripping, Nero on the lowest settings with nothing running for burning. I rarely have any problems. I've used both TDK +R's and Verbatim's with few problems (A couple of the TDK games get some killer lag depending on the PS2 they're used on but work fine on others.)

ok, question for someone who knows a lot about ps2s. i used a gameshark about a month ago along with red dead revolver, then because of one of the cheats, my guy got glitched into a bridge and i had to restart the game. but for some reason once i put the game shark in the ps2 again, the ps2 wouldnt read the disc, all it does is it goes to a loading screen with a spinning disc, the disc does 1 rotation, stops, then it kinda shuts down my ps2, it doesnt turn it off or reset it, but it goes to the screen of my tv where its as if i never even turned it on. and i have done everything, ive adjusted the laser, ive exchanged the laser, ive cleaned the system, ive done everything i could think of, but the real kicker is, that the shark doesnt even work on any of my other ps2s, i have 3 in total, ive never used the GS on the other two, and it still dont work. so i was wondering of anyone know's what the problem would be.

I would say it would have to be the disc also. My best suggestion is clean the disc, maybe use one of the crazy methods of disc repair like peanut butter/toothpaste (Which actually do work, my testimonial on that) or a real repair kit and try propping the playstation flat on the ground or at 90 degress (Straight up) Because both of those have had changes for me. My ARMax and a lot of other things (especially burns) will only play with PS2 at 90 degrees.

to be honest it is deffinately your disc but the toothpaste/peanut butter methods do not work as they are said to, i dont know why all these methods say they work but no method of cleaning discs this way will ever work, scratches in the cd,s are there, if u use toothpaste all you do is fill the scratches which usually makes the disc more readable for a while but soon after the disc goes back to its original state, i have had problems with action replay booting up and the suggestion about standing it vertical does help, if you are after the disc repairing there are a lot of places available on the web who will completely resurface your disc to an as new condition for a relatively low cost.

i had same problem, you must make sure that you are swapping it for a ps2 cd not a dvd i had the exact same thing and it took ages to realise the stupid mistake, just make sure that in the bottom it says ps2 CD not DVD before you swap it with the cogswap installer and it should work fine
I am assuming that u mean this is the cdloader.elf that you are on about here. (the one you run from ARMAX media player)

ah, but see here is the thing, the disc is flawless, i treat my games as if they where solid gold, encrusted with jewels, worn by the queen of england and the pope, and had some mystical past where they ended a war or something. so it confuses me on how it can be the disc thats the problem, esspecially after i had used it all of 30 minutes before hand and it worked perfectly.

That I would have to say is quite a conundrum then, friend. Again, all I can suggest is trying to mess with the PS, propping it at different angles can be your friend. Is there any awkward change you can remember doing to your PS/disc or anything like that? Doesn't have to be damaging, just moving it some different direction could change the outcome of what you've been doing.

Hi all, I've been readin this post from the top and forgive me for being slow but it seems its all for unmodded PS2. Can anyone help, I have a fat PS2 (50004) and I recently bought Action Replay Max and I can's seem to use it with my backed up games. Any idea how i can move on. I do not want to sell the ARMax and give up yet.

well sumguy666, i afraid to say though but there is no other possibility other than it been your disc, either that or all of the lasers in each of your ps2 consoles all went dodgy at the same time but i dont think that that is quite probable

Hello Bagofcrap, thanks for the help and tips yesterday, I went home and got everything working. great stuff.
Now I'm not sure what to do as my PS2 is already modded and i could play backeup gamess previously. What i would like to know is how do i get ARMax to load the cheats to my backed up game. Is there any way I can get it to work.

jjax or anyone know for sure if this will work on Slim v14 with AR MAX EVO? If not what do I need? I cannot find AR MAX 2.0 anywhere unless someone knows where.
I already have the case lid sensor done so that I can leave top open, etc.
I also do not have a USB Memory Stick. Would the pendrive with ARMAX EVO work?
Thanks for the help.
Flandrel
Update: Looks like I got it working good with this direction. Did the trick you presented jjax. Created exploit disc, cogswapper disc, and use Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal along with the AR MAX EVO and was able to run backup of TAK that I made from my original.
Made backup of my original game with Imation DVD-R just to see how it works and turned out fine. Now time to got some Verbatim or Sony blanks to keep my laser from going to crap. Hopefully these Sony DVD-RW will work. Guess time to test and see.
PS2 Version: v14 Slim
Will post any updates if any issues occur.

Thanks for the heads up Ace_2. I just used the Imation to see if I could even get it to work, which it did. Its just such a pain making sure you do everything right especially with removing the object from the lid sensor. I just don't want to do it much because I don't feel like tearing my system up and having it go bad.

Krytical - u've got it all installed perfectly, the only thing you need to do is assign a launch button to cogswap using the CONFIG menu. I haven't used any of this stuff for a while (this is my first post in probably 4months :p)... but i'm pretty sure that's the only step you need to do to have it running smoothly - the installation is the toughest part, and u've done that well.

That would be handy, but no. The ARMAX disc is a PS2 CD, not a PS1 CD. Only the PS1 CD will look on MC at boot-up, which is what you're "exploiting" with this method.
---
Ace_2, did you get the exploit working in the end? - where was the problem? (i haven't been on in a while :p)
