You can if your PS2 likes DVD+Rs, but the laser is very picky. Maybe they've changed the dye used on your brand?
Personally I wouldn't go for +R anyway, much prefer the trusty old -R

Only if your PS2 can actually read them, and even then I'd advise against it, since the dye isn't as good on RWs

hey all,
I tried to backup soul caliber 3 using alcohol 120; it copied fine, but when it went to burn, about half way through it stopped and said there is a problem with the recording process...any suggestions?
I also tried burning a game i had previously backed up and it burned fine.
I tried starting over then, but when it came time to burn soul caliber 3 again it did the same thing. I am using imation DVDs any suggestions on why it may be doing this?
Thanks
Following up on this; first of all thanks X-HC for your tip; the whole problem came down to the media, i tried Memorex DVD-r; I tried Imation DVD-R (which had a pc mag stamp indicating best buy for money bs!) Then i order taiyo yuden 8x and worked like a champ with Alcohol 120%
Thanks guys hope this helps someone

Hi, I'm just getting started with backing up ps2 games. I have searched and read past entries to answer my questions but I still have a few. I bought a DVD Decrypter that came with the Game Copy Pro package. I have successfully read the Image to my PC. When I go to write the image, there is two options, a big one and a smaller one. Which one should I choose, the bigger one? My CD-R's don;t seem to be big enough, so I from what I have read on here I need some DVD+R's then right? I also see that I don;t really want to burn them at the highest speed, so what speed do you guys suggest? Thanks for your time.

Unless you are needing to rebuild a game, simply using DVD Decrypter with ISO >> Read Mode, then ripping it to HDD, then burning it back with ISO >> Write Mode will be enough. Burn at 2X or 4X speed (slower=better), & use good quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

When I use my DVD Decrypter to write the ISO it says "Device Not Ready (Medium not present)". I am using Verbatim DVD-R's, which I have read on here are good. What am I doing wrong? From what I've read on this site, that means my burner is not a DVD Burner after all, just CD-R? I've spent over $100 on Swap Magic, Game Copy Pro and DVD-R's. Can someone suggest a cheap external burner I can use to back up ps2 games with? really need some help, thanks.

Hey, all.
Same thing going on as shararu. I'm new to this whole thing, but I'm no idiot. It's nice of others to share their skills and knowledge. I get the same message after burning an iso to a DVD+R and the inserting it into my PS2. "Please insert Playstation or Playstation 2 disc" or something similar. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
