I have just purchased swam magic 3.6 and I got the copying ps2 games down
I was wondering if I have to get the round flip top for my ps2 slim??
I was also wondering how to use theys cd's. I put the swamp magic dvd 3.6 disc in and I select NTSC video mode, and then I click load program and it bring me to where I select my memory card or the disc.. so I was wondering how to get to the screen where it ask you to put in the backup copy dvd?? I tried the special boot and normal boot thing where you click X or box symbol.
I am also would like to know about this slide tool and if it is must have tool.
Thanks a bunch

The tool just opens the disk tray without pressing the eject button.
Dunno about the screen, im sure you just set it to NTSC then put your game in then press 'Load Game' ;).

well I just open the case, I don't know why you need a tool to open it?? and I put my burnt copy of final fantasy x-2, and I used DVD Decrypter to burn the game, and went to burn I select the iso file instead of the mds file. not sure if it matters or not but it says no a valid ps2 disc..
so I just ordered PS2 Magic Switch Pro V3 is this the right tool??
and can someone explain what it does?
oh I used maxell DVD-R 4.7 and write at 4x
and another thing, I tried something, I put in a real copy of a ps2 game and it said it wasn't a valid dvd.. so I am lost because if the slide tool is just to open the case why not just open it??
thanks again :P

Only because you sound sincere will i do this, as everything you need to know is already in this thread.
1.Burning App - Use Nero or DVD Decrypter (DVD Decrypter is the best)
2.Media - Use 8X DVD-R, as they are the most compatible. Preferably use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. NEVER USE +/- R
Since yhou have Decrypter, i will just tell its method
1.Open decrypted, chose mode-iso-read, then insert the original
2.Save the image to desktop or wherever, then let decrypter do its thing
3.When done, insert a blank dvd., choose mode-iso-write, and open the .mdf or .mds file that was created. If you dont have one of those files, just select the iso.
4.Burn at 4x.....this usually takes between 10-15 minutes.
5.Now you have a working backup.
This will only work with a modded ps2, and since you didnt mention your method of mod, thought id add this.

Mercenaries works fine with Matrix Infinity and DMS4. Not sure about the Crystal chip though - you may have to rebuild or patch the ISO. I had to patch the ISO for my friend (who uses swap magic) because the original ISO is too big for the swap magic to cope with.

I've already created a thread about this, but i saw this one and figured its the newbies "my burn won't work corner" and thought i'd hop on the bandwagon. Hope i'm not hijacking anyone's thread here...
I'm using Verbatim DVD-R's with DVD Decrypter, burning on 2x with a Liteon LDW 811s. I'm trying to play them using Swap Magic 3.6 but they're stuttering when played. The stuttering also seems to be getting worse, so i'm wondering if they're actually knackering my laser as well.
Below is a screeny of my Nero CD/DVD Speed scan. If i'm not mistaken a copy of 93 quality should play quite happily, no? This might lead me to think my PS2 is on its way out but i thought i'd check with you guys for any ideas...
[EDIT] errr, so that screeny doesn't work then... but it's 93 quality, honest!

Thanks for any help folks

1.You gave no info about how you backuped GTA, so how can anybody help you?
2.A bin file means that the game is CD based, so whip out Nero, and burn the bin to a CD then your good.

Fliptop is king. You switch by turning the ps2 off, rebooting swap magic, then inserting the backup of your choice.

Hi, been reading just about all the posts in this thread... but I'm still having problems getting a good burn to work with my new fliptop.
Trying to burn a torrented Sengoku Basara 2... and it's just not working. I extracted the ISO, and burned it using DVD Decrypter, on a Memorex DVD-R 8x.
When I try to swap out and load... it tells me that it's Not a valid PS2 disc.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Okay, I read even more, and I guess I found my problem. Crappy media.
I guess i'll have to head out tomorrow and look into getting some Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or Maxell -R's.
Never heard of those brands though >_> Hope I can find them.
