I'm trying to back up some files on a DVD-RW disc but the burning process keeps failing. The current message I'm getting is 'power calibration error'. There don't appear to be any firmware updates for my drive (Optiarc AD-5540A) and I've tried RiDisc and TDK. I normally use RiDisc and the drive has worked with those before.

Keep trying different media, it still seems that the drive isn't liking what you're using. It's also possible that the drive is ready for a replacement.
