My wife just gave me a Flip UltraHD Camcorder for my birthday. I have Nero Express 6. Can I use that to transfer my Camcorder movies onto a blank DVD for the purpose of playing it on a DVD player? I've been trying all day with no luck. Any suggestions pleas. Thanks

What format are the videos from your camcorder? Define "no luck" - you can't add the files to your project, the transcoding/burning process fails?

I am new to camcorders (FlipUltraHD) but I believe the format is MP4. Nero 6 says the format is not compatible. My camcorder attaches to the computer via USB connection and has also an HDMI port for watching on TV. Basically they want to do the transfer for me for $19.99. I am wondering what software products, like Nero, you might recommend. Sorry but I'm really a novice at this. I use DVDFAB for my DVD burning now.

I'm reasonably sure ConvertXtoDVD handles mp4, but it is only a free trial as the software is payware. I'm not saying don't buy it if you are interested though as it is worthwhile.
However, SUPER is free and will convert your files but it is a more complex process. The interface is a bit more technical, and you would then need to burn the output files with Nero Burning ROM (which you should already have bundled with Nero 6). I can give you generic DVD instructions for SUPER if you are going to try it out though.

Go thru the guides section here at AD is your best bet, there are so many softwares it's hard to know which you should get so when in doubt freeware is best i mean free as in no money not freeware till 30 days is up,the only two softwares i've bought for ripp'n is dvdfab & the slysoft package if i could afford it i'd get nero 10 as it is i used a torrent instead mwaaaaa, like ripper mentioned there's SUPER,there's also to name a few & all should be free, the last two listed are installed but i haven't used yet so would recommend avoiding unless they can be placed in a sandbox or a virtual pc or unless you have a backup image of C Drive, most of the software i find is right here at AD,as there's always something being advertised for free or not free
k-lite video conversion pack
mediacoder
digital video converter
any video converter
EDIT:I mentioned caution with the last two softwares in case you find they aren't up to scratch & delete them only to find the dam things are a trojan or something & end up deleting your program file folder contents,as it happens it's never happened except with a nfo file reader i installed..lol.. lucky for me all my 3rd party software is installed in another partition which keeps C safe

Thanks Ripper. I have a copy of Nero 9 now. Should that work. I was also told to try imgburn or DVDstyler, both free. What do you or anyone else think?

So then can I assume that Nero 9 cannot handle mpeg4?

I've read several posts that say Nero10 offers little over 9 and actually offers less features. In looking through the various menu's on 9 it only mentions mp2. Maybe that's the advantage of 10 but I already had 9 just hadn't used it.

Later versions of Nero should be alright - give it a try, and if it doesn't work then do as I previously suggested..
