Nero 7 Ultra Edition not finalizing?

I've been using Nero 7 for as long as I can remember, burning with Sony DVD+R blanks. I download movies in avi. formats and use Nero Vision to convert to DVD. Recently the DVDs that I have burned no longer work in any of my DVD players in the house, but the computer reads them. It seems Nero has stopped finalizing discs. When I bring up Nero Vision and try to use the Finalize Disc option it analyzes the disc and a message comes up saying "media not supported". I've never run into this problem before until now and cannot figure out what is wrong it's driving me nuts! Please any help is much appreciated!!!
