Yeah it's shame they killed RI4M, But anyDVD will rip almost 100% of the movies out there and the .5% it doesn't, they are first to have the fix at least 99 and 44/100 % faster. I like easy. AnyDVD running Recode opening the movie only and it's already set to the parameters I use. Click the burn button and come back in 6 to 20 min and the finished product's sticking out of the pc depending on compression, burn speed or on the fly choice.

Nope! RI4M, followed by DVDRB/CCE 2 Pass, and I'm a happy man! I've been using RI4M since the day it came out. It's success rate is better than .04% in over 400 tries with it. I have DVD Fab Platinum as well and I'll probably wind up buying into AnyDVD eventually, when what I have no longer works! I don't do Dual Layer or blu Ray either!

There was a time when I found "Rip it 4 me" useful. I stumbled on anydvd, and never looked back. Especially with $ony, Lions Gate, Disney, etc Dvds. They spend the big bucks on encryptions LOL! They really do need to just give up. There will always be a way to copy something. I feel for them, I really do. They wanna protect whats theirs. It all amounts to business. $ony, more than all of them should concentrate on their technology rather than throwing their money away on encryptions that will no doubt be broken in a day or less. Its become obvious to many people that their equipment is NOT what it used to be. I just hope that the PS3 my brother buys before too long is money well spent!!!

Not too bad a burn for 12X TYG03! I wonder how these sammy's would have done with TYG02's. I don't buy them anymore, but now im curious LOL!

Oman7,
It's funny! Disney DVDs are the least problematical for me! I also find most $ony's to be pathetically simple! A recent one had the title name made with non-standard ASCI characters, and you can't use them for a folder name, so the rip failed because it couldn't create the folder. Renaming the folder it goes in, cured the problem! RI4M handled it fine after that!

Best Regards,
Russ

I actually believe that the DRM creators are some joined at the hip with the DRM crackers. They're both techs and wanting the other to be successful,; so the cycle will continue. What good would it be if someone actually created a DRM that no one could crack. He's out of a job. Like the March of Dimes in the 50s that put themselves out of business by eradicating polio. They were none to stupid in their move to genetic diseases to stay afloat.

Lion's Gate has provided us with some of the more interesting nuggets to crack, like the Saw series. Just my 2¢ worth, but nothing that Slysoft couldn't handle within a week or so.

blivetNC,
No offense meant, but I don't watch those kind of movies! Never did! I'm an Adventure and Family movie fan! Just me! I like to Laugh, Cheer and sit on the edge of my couch!. Occasionally I even cry! LOL!! If you can watch "The Ultimate Gift" all the way through without a tear, you're not Human! Great movie, Worst editing job I've ever seen, and I've seen some terrible ones. "The Creature From the Black Lagoon" comes to mind! LOL!! Looked like it was made in a swimming pool! LOL!!

I've had 4 failures with RI4M and DVDRB/CCE in 467 burns! I had a bunch when I had the chipset problem, but I don't count those as it was a bad Southbridge, not the drives or software! That still leaves 4 failures in 461 burns! Not a bad record at all!

Best Regards,
Russ

Yeah I like the hard ones (Lion's Gate)but even they have not been hard at all lately. They've taken the fun out of it nowadays! LOL

@Russ

I'm a big fan of all good horror pictures since I was 6-7. had many a nightmare- but I like nightmares and dreaming. "Creature" was one of my favs and I have them all on disc. Plus all the other old B&W ones. My first scary movie I can remember seeing is "Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" and then came "Them." I rewatch some of them yearly. "The Thing" was really funny since the carrot man was James Arness of Gunsmoke fame.

Them, gave me nightmares! The original "The Thing" can't hold a candle to the John Carpenter version! LOL!!

Garmoon,
What I object to is "Gore" for the sake of "Gore"! I spent a lot of my youth on the streets of NY! I've seen people shot! They take it too far and much too surreal! They dote on the surreal and ignore reality completely! It's like, "There's your reality people", when it's actually anything but! To me, it's a shame! There's still lots of beauty in the world for all to see. You have, but to open your eyes, to see it! There's enough misery and pain all around us, so why would I want to go see more? Like I said, it's just me and my ways. No knock on other people, after all it's entertainment! You watch what you want!

NOT bad garmoon. ;) Considering the age of the disc and the possibility of a little dust on it I like the scan. :)

Im betting you store it in a disc booklet? ;) They always get scuffed over time from the in/out, in/out. Though my oldest burners burn quality begins to degrade toward the end of the disc.

Awesome movie by the way LOL! :D

WHOOPS! I thought that was the 1988 version LOL!

Here's a Dual Layer dvd. I usually dont do um, but this particular dvd has 10Hrs of video on it. I couldn't see compressing the living sh** out of it LOL! Not too bad for an 8X scan. The spike disappeared when I ran it at 2X.

Garmoon,
That's about the same as the TY-02 I posted back at the end of March. The differences between the two are interesting, like the huge difference in the maximum PIEs! 3 year old Yuden, looks good!

Yes I keep them in books. But that particular dvd has been played only once since it was made, and thus no in-out of holder.

Huh. Any visible scarring, scuffing, micro scratching, etc? If not, then its similar to what my Dru820 does. Though my DRU820 is significantly WORSE LOL! It tends to move like a stair case. Every once in a while, I can get yet another good, burn, rip out of it though. But its useful days are over. Which is fine. It had seen well over 300 discs. Though given the average burner ive had, I prefer they see at least 500+ Then I know I can rely on them.

and here is a poster child for what a scan should look like... when in doubt use a verb...lol i gotta leave the cheaper stuff alone.

my best scan in a long long time.
this is Gran Torino. clicked the wrong box when in setting options.

burnt on my AD-7220S at 8x disc to disc(on the fly) useing the AD-7200A as the ripper/reader. then scanned on the 20A4P @4x

figures it takes a Clint Eastwood movie to get this kinda scan.... this is by far my lowest ever PIE amount. PIF's i have had lower but the PIE'S on this one is awesome.

What's up with AnyDvd these days? I just downloaded the latest (6558) direct from Slysoft to try it with the 21 day free trial and as soon as I tried to use it I got a message that the Trial Period had expired! This is a fresh install of XP-Pro on a fully wiped drive, so I'm wondering what sort of crap Slysoft is pulling! The real gripe is that this DVD is a 65 year old movie, and it plays fine, I just can't find anything that will rip it! Any ideas?

Best Regards,
Russ

Russ using the BETA version of the progie is gonna do that.... you might try using the "final" released version and see what happens. Read about that yesterday as a matter of fact. As you know it's NOT the age of the movie but the age of the encryption.... TRY DVDFabDecrypter and see what you get.... there is a "new" FREE release on their website.

try this LINKY for DVDFab FREE

GOOD LUCK buddy....

GM,
I have both the latest DVD Fab (6.0.1.0) and the latest Anydvd (6559), and I keep getting this message.

I'm going to send back the DVD on Monday and get another one. It could be a defective DVD, as I know the region code is set properly to region 1! Thanks for your help.
