Truthfully, it all depends on which VHS you have and the quality of the VCR. Get a good high quality "Super VHS" with the Hi Fi Stereo sound, played through a high Quality 27" Flat CRT TV with the good Toshiba Tube, and you would be very surprised at how good it looks in direct video. In the old 1933 King Kong, you can see the girl's boob pop out as they fall off the cliff and into the water with Kong chasing them! You can't see that on most VHS setups. The tape itself was made from a master film copy, as was my DVD of it! Of course, you get what you pay for! The TV and VCR cost me about $800 way back in 94! LOL!! I gave them both to my sister when I first came to California, and they still work well! Of course, I was in Audio/Video at least part time, most of my life. I knew what brands and models to choose from. Price was not the object at the time! It took me two hours to decide whether to get a Mitsubishi or a JVC. I finally decided on the JVC. Back then they made some of the best stuff!

I dont mean that dvd looks like total crap. Just when you compare Dvd to Hd on MY monitor, the difference is substantial. Call me crazy, but the 50" plasma in the living room doesn't display dvd like the first time I saw dvd. Perhaps i've simply become more critical, Huh. I still appreciate dvd a great deal :)

I would think that that kind of blatant Spam qualifies for a short vacation away from AD for a few weeks at least. Give him some time to contemplate the error of his ways! As I recall, that kind of post is strictly against the rules! My feelings are that it needs to be taken care of now, before all his "cousins" show up hawking their wares too, otherwise we will wind up buried in Spam! Just my thoughts on the matter.

add: actually sounds impressive.. LOL. I think a proper post in the APPROPRIATE forum/thread would have been nice but here it seems like ADVERTISING to me. Anyway... I'm sure the MOD's will handle it nicely. :)

Hum! And you have to pay for it and it doesn't work-that's "spoilt spam on a shingle," is there anything worse? I'm sure they didn't pay AD to advertiSe (that's for you creaky). Maybe you'll put the spam in the latrine, where it belongs.

Rob,
Quote: hell i think its more the relavent for this thread. goes hand in hand with what we do. another tool to rip, convert, backup, ect....
He should have just given a link then, not Blatant advertising! It's strictly against the Forum rules! As the economy gets worse, you will see more of it too. It's nothing more than cost free advertising.
I'm with GM here, just ban his a$$ and send a message to anybody else that wants to do the same kind of thing thing that they can't do it here. If the post said "Check out this new software" and provided a link without the full post add, it would have been fine. That's the way it's supposed to be done! Otherwise we'll wind up with all sorts of junk being posted!
What say you, Mods?
EDIT:I also meant to say that if we don't protect the people who pay to advertise here, AD won't have any sponsors at all, and then there would be no AD at all! Don't think I would like that very much! We are much more a community here, than most Forums. I wouldn't like to see that change!
Best Regards,
Russ

Here's a nice collection of shareware and Freeware from NCH Software. 22 programs, 20 of which are free. Most are audio/Video related. Check it out!
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Authors/NCH_Software.html
I use the free version Prism video Converter, and their pay version of Soundtap Streaming Audio Recorder. Prism converts RM media better than any other free program I've found, and I know what we all think of Real Player! ROFL!!
Just a little "Going Away" Present for glendon00!

Well...heres my odd ball for the day LOL! 12X TYG03 burned and read buy the iHAP 422. Unfortunately, only my sammy's and the iHAP can read it. My LH-20A1H refuses to acknowledge it, none of the burners show which burner burned it, the dvd player won't play it. Reminds me of the first day I began using the iHAP 422! I had to flash it to get it working proper. Now it looks like it may be through. I suppose its just as well. I've been thinking about looking into new Lite-on drives :D

TYG03 media averages between 400-800Pif. At least in my towers. Whats funny is ive had PI F spikes in excess of 80-100, and the LH-20A1H could read it! These discs have taught me to be less picky :) And industrial dvds(Commercial DVD-ROM) look REALLY FUGLY! I'll be content with most of my scans LOL!

Rob I have to agree with O-man7 on the TYG03.. NOT the best discs when it comes to initial scans but I've noticed they don't get any worse really. ;)

Very true GM. They don't scan/burn like TYG02 or Yuden T02. Also note that the iHAP scanned the disc, and is NOT NEARLY the reader/scanner that the LH-20A1H is. In fact the LH-20A1H is probably the best reader/ripper ive ever had HANDS DOWN. My sammys (at least one), is also good though :)
